Do any my fellow CellarTrackers ever pat themselves on the back a decade after buying a fantastic wine? Sometimes, I do! I literally bought this wine 10 years ago this month. How great is it? Pat-Myself-On-The-Back Great. Rather than describe its august beauties, I refer you to Parker's WA 95-point review. What he said. Superb O!

Precious Pégau. Dense dark indigo-purple to the eye. On the nose, notes of granite and forest, merged with ripe fall fruit aromas. On the palate, after decanting for an hour, different sensations emerged with each passing hour of sipping (matched with NY strip steak, fingerling potatoes, mushroom compote, fresh-baked bread, and a spring-leaf salad). Throughout, beautiful bevies of dark berries, in the first hour, with a surprising spot of bright tang in the upper-mid palate –– an unexpected and delightful topnote of strawberry. By the second hour, this was replaced by tinges of dark chocolate and umami richness. In the third hour, soothing texture was at the forefront, with smooth tannins imbued in every sip. In the fourth hour, tasting the afterglow of experience in an extraordinary wine.

We have a winner! Tignanello in its 13th year, deep, dark, rich, sophisticated, suave, and superb. I nursed this over 4 nights; it held up marvelously, and should continue to drink well for years to come. Salute!

OOPS, I did it again! I opened up this bottle of Mike's selection before its 2022 date. But this time the bottle opened for me! After an hour decant, all kinds of Rutherford wonderfulness poured out in waves of full-on dark berries, with sophisticated tannins, and a killer finish. Bravo!

Powerful Zin. In the glass, dark purple with light garnet edges. Massive legs. On the palate, deep autumn berries, ancient forests, furrowed fields, and a zephyr of alcohol. On the palate, legions of lusty black cherries, followed by exotic old world spices, and a flourished note of black pepper on the finish. Perhaps a hint of graphite as well. Fully integrated tannins. Now is the time when this wine is in its prime. Drink up, my friends.

Stellar in every way. Purchase nine years ago, and slumbering in my cellar until emerging in this summer like no other. Irresistible deep gold in the glass, with long legs, and a rich mineral aroma. On the palate, smooth and supple, with luxuriant tinges of lemons, apricots, peaches, and pears. The finish lasts forever and begs to be savored. Truly a delight.

This is very interesting wine. Opening was easy, with cork fully intact (but unusually short!) Upon pouring, kerosene was the dominant aroma. Ugh. I was going to toss it out, but decided to put down the glass and leave it for an hour. Voila! Upon return, the kerosene went away, and summer flowers remained. On the palate, lots of orchard fruits emerge, including apricots and peaches. The finish lasts long, with flickering impressions of tangerines and lemons. Minutes later, a sweetly mineral tanginess lingers. (Despite all the positives I experienced, I do not have a desire to buy this wine again -- like I said, very interesting!)

Happy Accident. I thought I was opening 2010 Grgich Yountville butI accidentally opened the 2013. It is already marvelous. Perfectly balanced. Deep indigo, long legs. Exceptional nose of fall fruits, mountain minerals, and autumn spices. On the palate, a bevy of berries — blackberries, blueberries, and currant — matched with gorgeous oak and hints of exotic anise at the finish. The tannins are fine and well integrated, leading to a finish that caresses the taste buds with elegance.

Ripe, sumptuous, gorgeous, youthful, delicious, delectable Del Dotto. Not as refined as the 2014 Piazza, but all the signs are there that a couple more years in the cellar will enable this vintage to become just as stellar.

This is one of the best CA Pinot Noirs I've ever had. Del Dotto is not going for subtle and nuanced. I think they aim for regal. Royal purple in the glass, with garnet edges and lithe legs. Intoxicating aromas draw you in to fields of berries blended with spices, and finished with fine leather. The palate brings immediate sensations of suave, smooth berries amid expansive oak surroundings. The finish lingers for a long time, with notes of exotic licorice and Italian cacao. What a triumph. I want more.

Just bought a case of these babies after first buying a case 5 years ago (long since finished). Though not what it once was, it's still quite delicious, much to my amazement. For $8 a bottle, I didn't expect much. But I got some of France's best white burgundy.

It hailed today, April 21. Yesterday was sunny, tomorrow will be sunny. I retrieved this bottle from the cellar, never having tried it before either. I like it way better than I like hail. Expansive, expressive, and elegant. Deep dark red in the glass with massive legs. Dark forest aromas in the glass. Dark cherries on the palate. An exquisitely long finish, with luscious tannins. Well done, JB.

Stunningly sumptuous. Dark purple in the glass. Long lithe legs. Deep, earthy, enticing aromatics. Lively on the palate, with bevies of berries and succulent flavors of plums and cherries, followed by touches of minerals and a hint of anise. The lush tannins are perfectly matched, leading to a lengthy finish that begs for the next sip. Spectacular from start to finish.

For ten years, this bottle has nestled in my cellar, waiting for its debut. With a brilliant Italian meal prepared by my wife, this was the perfect accompaniment. An hour after opening, it was ready. Dark purple in the glass, with almost opaque glow, and massive legs. On the nose, harvest berries and earthy undertones. On the palate, huge presence and multiple waves of deep, luscious fruits. Long finish with gorgeous and substantial tannins. Notes of cacao on the very end. Altogether, this is where Massive Meets Lovely. Well worth the wait.

Vegetal on the nose. Perhaps a bit of air reached the wine through the cork? But after a couple hours to calm down in the bottle, pleasant Syrah characteristics come singing through nonetheless. Enjoyable, but nothing to write home about.

This wine still requires at least an hour to open. Any sip earlier (even via vinturi) smells unappealingly vegetal and tastes acidic. But after that hour, oh my, what a luscious and lovely Graves, with all the notes one could ask for.
