Tasting flight at The Art of Wine, Sedona AZ.
Merkin, Chupacabra 2019. GSM blend. Big nose. Hard to place: red fruits, more pinot like, but a bit kerosene? Decent. Nice tart berry, acidity. 87

Chateau Tumbleweed, Cousin IDD 2019. Bordeaux blend, cab dominant. Nose kind of dusty, some raspberry behind it. Not a lot there on palate. Innocuous, meh. 82

Deep Sky Vineyard, Big Bang Malbec 2017. Deep color. Blueberry on the nose, raspberry too. Soft on the palate, but feels “manufactured”. There with some of the “value” Argentinians. 87

Flying Leap Vineyards, Union 2018. Bordeaux blend: cab franc led, with cab sauv and petite Verdot. Good red fruit nose, with some green there. Definitely get the cab franc on the palate. Good juicy acidity here. Drinking fine but might improve with another year or two. Favorite of this tasting. 89

Laramita, Dos Compadres 2019
50-50 primitivo and petite sirah.
Deep ruby. Nose was a bit eye watering initially (maybe the 15.5%?) but mellowed. Dark fruits. Soft but medium/big palate. This one got much better with air! Decent. 87

Cooked. One of multiple different wines stored at JJ Buckley that come up flawed.
