Nice round blend. Nice mix of red fruit with some pepper notes. In a good place in regards to tannin. Around the table all thought was balanced and evolved. Note of cocoa and leather.

Second bottle. Knowing nc wino, phredd and wineknurd and there respected palates I still don't feel the massive scores for this. I dig this wine, it's quality qpr central, but it's not 95, 97 or 99. Great cherry, cedar but it lacks that haunting element that makes outstanding wine legendary. That's what you are doing hanging a 97 or 99, you are calling something a legend. This is not a legend.

Disappointing. Nose of oak, acetone. Body very one sided, fruit nothing else. Spike of heat. Day 3: fruit and heat.

This was clearly a step down since last bottle. This has the stuff to go 95+ as evidenced by other tasters. My guess is that it's in a dumb period.

Nose- plum dark fruits cherry
Palate- dark cherries, raspberries, but more dominated by acid. Over whelming acidity.
Finish- bit of minerality but acid.
White - Off-dry

Palate- apple, pear nice saline, peach

Everyone is flirting with it, I'll do it. Stunning nose of honey, pineapple, palate complex, melon, apple, caramel, powdered sugar, evolution from beginning to end. Yes phredd, you were right, I was wrong this is better than the rieussac.

This suffered from the massive hype of the pervious notes. Nose was dominated by cedar and balsamic notes. Very tannic, in fact, I really should have not opened this, its very young and could benefit from 5 more years. Initial thoughts, petit cherry, balsamic and tar. However its not a 99 or 95 point wine.
White - Off-dry

Dominated by pineapple and sweet mangos. HOWEVER, I dont feel this is as good as most CT notes. No really acid and the sweetness was out of balance for me. However a solid effort and one of the best Cal dessert wines I ve ever tasted.

Cork was totally clean 2/3 of the way up the neck. Pulled out easy. Nose of cedar and cherries. Decanted through a filter with little sediment. Inital thoughts was a this was going to be special. The color was ruby to dark red. Very much younger than 22 years. Great strawberry and blackberry fruits. A little tannin still left, but the acid was still very bright. This was a great wine, that improved with air. A mild citrus flavor and the finish was long and strong. 95 pts.

Modern styled, nose, some what muted, violets and red fruits. Initally, tar, red fruits, cedar and tobacoo. Good Acidity and well structured. This seemed to be in good place as opposed to other 04's I ve tasted. This would be a 5-10 year wine, somewhat tight on the open, however was decanted 2 hours and drank over 2 more, so I am going to keep in the cellar.

Nearly a universal pan around the table. Lacked most Chablis minerality. Not the best and considering 09, this might be a vintage issue.

Phredd is going to disagree, but this is better than the Sud 01. Nose of honey and pinapple, dense. Initial, dense, goes straight down into your palete like a 2000 Laser Guided Bomb. Rises all cross the mids and finish lasts for literally 2 hours. The finest sweet wine I've ever had. Have 2 01 Yquems and I can't imagine those after this.
