Well this is maturing well. Structure appreciably unlocked - doesn't require a heavy decant. A LOT of legs on this wine in the glass. Nose big but does not comprise the feature of this wine. Rather the mouthfeel and palate are stellar - this is a big, warm, deep presence, with an aspect I can only call "creamy" (the slightly heavier mouthfeel and glint of flavor resembling dairy cream). Big and enjoyable, complementing autumnal fare well. 50/5/12/17/9

Agree with others here - this is turning a corner toward the end of middle age... a bit of bricking in the glass, but a lot of power remains. Big nose, big palate. Austere and serious. A wine suited for a deliberate, paced evening. 50/4/13/16/8

Immense nose out of the bottle. Fruity complexity inside with several flavor spheres. I like drinking these now - but you may feel differently. 50/5/14/16/8

Big, lovely feminine nose - chock full of life. You'd never know it's Barolo by the look. Complex and a bit daunting on palate - with strong chord of sunny garden (which I'm fine with). Not a classic barolo, but for the nose if nothing else, this wine wins applause. 50/5/15/14/8

10 years since my last bottle - the tart harshness completely gone. Deep intense core fills mouth - with decent finish. Light nose comes on some over time. Nose is delicate, but palpably enjoyable with some typical elements and some classic wine elements. Never a great wine but certainly in an enjoyable window. 50/5/12/15/6

Just after the crack, this is ready to pour onto pancakes. Delicious full syrup (I exaggerate... a little...) with a fulsome structure of an intense red berry core, with enough surrounding complexity and PS character to elevate this to a nice score. 50/5/13/16/9

Playful flair on the tail-end of useful life. A swath of pepper, and a structure that has loosened to show all the infrastructure. Best when first out of the bottle... 50/4/11/15/6

Big punchy nose, and a celebratory taste with a sangria aspect. What a flavorful core, with a strong mineral flourish on the finish. Many years left. This is a young adult that refuses to let go of adolescence. 50/5/13/16/9

So many years still ahead. Huge nose RDD, with an almost pinot core aspect. Still a good 5-7 years of goodness here, though one notch thinner on the finish from my last bottle 9 years ago. Drink with confidence and a smile. 50/5/14/18/7

Solid enough, humble plus. Decent Barolo elements all around, if not stellar. 50/5/15/12/7

Ten years since I last drank this vintage. Still in great shape. A vegetal trace on the palate now, and a pinch of pepper. Serve this fearlessly with any robust food. Intense color and legs - this wine is concentrated goodness - "thick" in the best way. 50/5/13/17/7

Growth region-imbued goodness. Subtle, well-reigned goodness. Not a sensation. No heat - a bit of masculine and feminine. 50/5/13/15/8

Solid but unremarkable. Nothing delicate or nuanced, but the broad-brush strokes of goodness were in place. A bit light on the nose, andthe finish would have been better had the palate been more notable. 50/5/13/16/6

Full-throated effort - I had my last bottle of this 9 years ago, and it's only gotten better. This wine is up for your robust food pairing. Nicely concentrated. Years left on this one for sure. 50/5/14/16/9

What a delicate, velvety wine this is. Barolo's with this light of color (higher transparency) aren't seen as frequently these days, but this almost looks like it considered life as a rosé. None of those young life, sledgehammer tannins here. This mouthfeel is more like a burgundy (yes, that type of Barolo). It's a supreme joy to drink this wine now. Not sure what the future holds, and I'm not sure I care. Decent finish, and bit light on the nose for those chasing loud typicity. But this is an unexpected treat off the beaten path, in my view. 50/5/13/17/9

This wine is peaking - wow. Robust legs crawling up the glass preview a nose that wears bigger as the bottle extends into the evening. No inordinate or notable heat that I could detect. My well-provenanced bottle is rocking my apartment tonight, and complementing my house-made pasta robusto something fierce! If my breathless review hasn't chased you off (it almost did me!), give this a try. 50/5/14/16/8

All of the following described on a Barolo (top quality appelation) scale: Solid drinker - inoffensive - plenty of life left. Decent nose and palate. 50/5/13/15/8

Weak initial nose yielded first to a bit of brett (was attractive), then deep, spherical berry. Pleasant, rounded palate (no heat) - still holding a relatively tight structure and robust finish. Legs in the glass are strong. Time out of bottle was a couple of hours when a bit of degradation was noticed... so DRINK UP! 50/5/14/17/7

Like an airy but confident soprano, this operatic number is dazzling. So sure of itself, with any tannins having folded long ago against a warm envelope of light-footed, flowing structure including a floral-strawberry nose. Never alcohol-hot for a moment. Pure barolo transparency in the glass, with Barbara Stanwyck legs. I'm way out of order on this review, but I'm happy. This wine is at a pleasant peak. 50/5/14/18/8

Iconic typicity if you like Barolos - two hours of light decanting opened the wine right up. BIG nose full of flowers and a bit of lovely earth/tar - only in the best way. This bottle and I became good friends in our one night together - the relationship was doomed to last only that long, in a covid solo Thanksgiving. 50/5/16/14/9

Ten years from my last tasting, this wine is delivering superbly. Rich with a bit of sweetness, and a friendly, relaxed structure (not to be interpreted as simplicity). Nose has advanced into something very special. If you can enjoy a bottle of this, you will be happy. 50/5/14/18/8

Patience gets it reward here. Color and taste still going and showing interest through the late side of life. The nose is a disappointment out the bottle but unexpectedly developed over time - really shaped up nicely. As others have said, this old girl just needs a little air (decant!). Deep dark red, very little bricking - and a relaxed mouthfeel with extended finish. 50/5/13/17/6

Graceful and spherical taste/mouthfeel; a gentle peak for this aptly named, feminine wine. Not in your face, not one bit. Time to drink these up. 50/5/13/18/6

If you want to know what a good Barolo nose is like at a decent price point, this is it. Shows off the best of Barolo typicity, and with unusual strength and clarity. Finish promotes a big, round core if only medium-lived. This wine has earned an exceptional WTS ratio (whiffs to sips), and did I say it has a beautiful nose? I'm off to my local store tomorrow to see if there are any left on the shelf. 50/5/14/16/8

Fairly strong typicity - down the fairway - that's a good thing. Tight structure on the nose with a hint of burn and a strong rose-mineral tag. This has some realization left in the cellar, but the primary flavor core is intense. Decent finish. 50+5+14+15+8 = 92

Deep, concentrated nose on this one. Fairly broad spectrum on the palate - this will stand up to some flavorful food. Seems to carry a wood imbuement to its benefit and detriment. But a VERY powerful and long finish confirm this wine is a winner. 50/5/13/15/9

Nose emerged quickly and represented the best of Piedmonte Nebbiolo. Deep, deep aspects - aging has worked some magic. There is no sharpness on the nose or the palate. Powerful dark fruit on the palate with a long and strong finish. Muted high end (not muted overall) enhances the perception of depth here. Those of you who have visited this winery (right in the center of Barolo village) will appreciate this accomplishment even more. 50/5/14/18/9

It's all about the nose, which is powerful and rich enough to compete with a lot of Italian heavyweights. On the palate the wine is much more humble yet respectable with a core that never pierces Italian mid-level, and a suspected fade in store for the future. A bit flat in appearance. But that NOSE! 50/5/14/14/6

Scrumptious and full of life now. Closed up only for first 20 minutes. Multi-dimensional fruit with pleasantly, softly dark aftertaste. Nose opened up in a short while. This is a winner NOW. 50/5/13/18/10

This was a big wine, but less coordinated than I anticipated. The structure and nose moved continuously after opening - exciting wine - but never came together as a coherent star. Was paired with ribeye and corn-on-cob from the grill, and certainly got the job done, but again, not a star. Brunello Bob, on the other hand, remains a star!! 50/5/14/16/7

Left 2/3 of the bottle for the next evening. I made the mistake of not decanting. MUCH better the second night (kept it at cellar temperature). Even the legs are back. But structure is rounded into form. Looser than in 2012 still, no doubt, but the initial pepper/funk and astringency on the finish are gone. 50/4/13/18/6

Plentiful berry fruit still remains on this one. Nose is deep and rounded, but not penetrating. Structure has begun to unwind, with a more contemplative palate featuring a light rush of pepper on the front end, and a somewhat astringent aspect on the finish, accompanying the fruit. Legs are gone. A bit past its prime... 50/4/13/15/8

This wine is at peak form now. Nose has fully developed (though nose still trails palate in fulsomeness) and the heat of youth has disappeared. Empty your cellars - you won't be sorry. 50/5/13/17/8

Drinking in a very good way today. Deep and spacious on the palate, with dark berry and a bit of savouriness. This has matured well. Nose not supremely powerful, but in a good place. 50/5/12/17/8

Just full of life and stuffing. Very bright on the nose/palate, too bright by a skosh, but deserves to be appreciated as it is - a lovely little field blend with an amiable spirit. Not mellow at all - reminiscent of a hot day, with the smell of warm crops hanging in the air. Put a smile on my face. 50/5/11/13/9
