Very dry, yeasty and chalky. As others write not a champagne but a very good German Sekt

Decanted for four hours. Bordeaux colour, quite dense, nice legs. Nose of olives, black berries and black currant. On the palate olives again, leather, some sweaty notes and the blood and iron we love in Northern Rhone syrahs. Firm acidic structure, medium finish. Still quite young. 89+ for today. Very good with gamey rack of lamb and green beans.

Color: Brick red with some red reflexes.
Nose: Forest floor, black cherry, marzipan, tobacco box, violet and a hint of glue.
Palate: nicely balanced, maraschino cherry, forest floor, dark forest berries.
Very nice. Gattinara is our favorite pairing for Pasta e Fagioli.

Nose a bit morbid with lovage. Palate nice with secondary aromas of forest floor and tobacco. No fruit. Good legs. Tertiary nuances of sweat, leather and smoke. We like it. Will go for more. From the shelf of a local supermarket. 30€.

Our bottle from last year clearly was flawed. The same should be true for Aquacongas similar note from two years ago. Today, our second bottle was singing with a nice petroly minerality and a medium long finish. Very nice.

With cod Grenoble style. The acid suits it well. Getting more harmonious. Beautiful nose of minerals and dried flowers. On the palate tea leaves, white stone fruit, grapefruit. Delicate and elegant. Finish quite long.

A natural wine without added sulfur. 22 months on the skins in a concrete egg.

Golden color.
Nose: wet stone, hay, green apple, cider.
Palate: Slightly oxidative note, full mouthfeel. Honey, licorice, coffee and a hint of yeast.
Slightly bitter, medium finish.

A wine more for meditation than for accompanying food.

Nose: Flinty wet pebble and a hint of Nashi pear.
Palate: Chalky minerality, salt and a hint of mirabelles. Good structure, bone-dry (although 2g res. sugar), hints of vanilla and wood (9 months in new oak). Medium length.

These wines are very food friendly and we considered the Rossthalberg an excellent match to "Japanese" spare ribs with cole slaw, kimchee and a gooseberry-tarragon-parsley relish.

Two hour decant. Carmesine colour. Some brick reflexes on the rim. Cherries, prunes and tobacco on the nose. Sweet dark fruit on the palate; balanced, round, medium length; still some heat in the finish. This is far better than our last bottle. No hurry. The 15% Alcohol ( or more) seem to integrate with age.

Give it a long decant and give it food, preferably Risotto Funghi Porcini. It will be rewarded. We compared it to the 2002 Gattinara from Vallana, a gorgeous wine, but wrong with the Risotto.

The wine was creamy and had impressive legs. It had a medicinal taste on the palate, though, that made it difficult to enjoy it. This medicinal thing did not go away within 5 days after opening the bottle.

A local supermarket has this on sale. I thought it was morbid and over the hill, while still drinkable. My wife loved it and so we rebought. The second one was a perfectly mature Aglianico, full bodied, complex and shining. I think I will free the supermarket from their stocks and take the risk on some bottle variation.

On the palete again amareno cherries and green leaves, Solid acidic backbone, bone dry. Nice, but still quite young. No secondary notes, yet. Next bottle in two years.

Impressive nose with wet stone and hints of petrol. We find herbs and liquorice. On the palate herbs, liquorice, toast (something between petrol and oak notes), filbert. Silky mouthfeel. Long finish. Perfect with seabass with a hint of star anis and zucchini noodles. Drinking sooo beautifully right now. 2010 is underrated. Unfortunately our only bottle.

3rd bottle of six and the first one we really like. Round and balanced with delicious blackberry aromas in the nose and on the palate. The oak that was too heavy with the first two bottles has moved to the background. Delicious.

Purple Colour, restrained nose, no fruit, weak secondary aromas of cigar box and some earthy notes. Viscose legs. On the palate also hardly any fruit, some forest floor, and hints of oak in the finish which is short to medium. We hope the wine has shut down and will revisit it in one or two years. Nevertheless, it worked fine with roastbeef English style, cauliflower with Polish bread crust and potatoes.

Restrained fresh nose of exotic fruits with some diesel in the backyard. On the palate citrus notes of lemon zest and bergamotte. Creamy mouthfeel supported by a pleasant minerality. Perfect now, we will not know where it will be going as this was our last bottle. Perfect match for cod with ginger quinoa and a carrot cucumber salad with mint and cilantro.
