Fairly mature as expected from the vintage drinking well now. Rich glycerol coating the mouth, lovely fruit, balanced acidity. Always a good qpr choice

Golden colour, wax and pear nose, developing complexity in the palate, long finish. Benefited from some decanting and better above fridge temperature.

Te wow! A cuvee of 5 Bordeaux grapes, best Bordeaux blend in NZ? This 2013 is drinking really well now. Well structured, lots of fruit up front, good acid and tannins not fully yet resolved. Long in the mouth. I never would have guessed a NZ wine.

Seeing previous note I was a little worried I had left this too late, but for me it was drinking well, noticeable but not abrasive tannins, some freshness and dark red fruit. Time to drink it up probably, but a tasty pauillac

Delicious. Fresh red fruits, a little menthol, tannins well resolved, quite long in the mouth. Better than I expected from some of the reviews here. In a good place to drink these now, but no rush

Wonderful wine, drinking at its peak. Fresh and structured, no hint of browning at the rim. Undeniably South African with fantastic balance and long length in the mouth. It’s got years ahead of it, but it is so gorgeous now I can’t see my remaining 6 bottles lasting very long

Muted. Almost bland. Improved after 4 hours in a decanter, but I was surprised at how poorly this was showing. Put aside for another year or two.

Fantastic. Tiny bubbles, lemony gold, fragrant, elegant yet powerful, slightly creamy mouth feel. Loved it. So much better than the bottle I had two years ago

My first ever Margaux. Slight bricking. Nose of violets, palate round and smooth, elegant, medium long finish. If this is Margaux in an off year, I'd like to drink more. Fully ready, cant see any point in delaying drinking the 2007.

In accord with others. Just a lovely bottle with a richness and complexity that follows from its relatively late disgorgement in 2014.

Agree with empire80. Dark fruit, olives and licorice. Fresh acidity. Excellent qpr. Quite long on the palate. Grenache and Mourvèdre predominate? Drinking very well now.

Decanted for 2 hours to warm and air. Initially quite acidic, which I quite enjoyed but settled over another hour or so to leave a balanced wine, gentle tannins, some coffee notes, medium finish.

Cigar box and cedar on the nose, ample fruit, freshness and slightly drying tannins. Good value for the £20 I paid IB. A way to go yet,

I got this at £10 on offer, so I bought plenty for my daughters wedding. I kept it in my cellar for over a year, and on the wedding weekend it went down very well indeed. Nothing fancy or profound, just a reasonable quality quaffable champagne. I would buy it again

Used to be one of my go-to wines, but this vintage is very disappointing. It has lost the complexity and tannic bite of previous years. I note from their web-site that it is a cuvee of 50% shiraz, 30% Merlot, 20% cabernet sauv. In earlier years, cab sauv predominated and the addition of shiraz softened the blend somewhat. This is frankly bland, I shall not buy again. Shame.

Wow This has developed beautifully since I had my first bottle. The originally overwhelming acidity has tamed to the point of mouth watering freshness. Perhaps I didn't give it enough air time but the nose was fairly mute but the complexity and all round Pinot loveliness was shining through. Lovely.

Two bottles opened and decanted 2 hours before a beef Easter Sunday family lunch. Tannins and acid mostly resolved leaving smooth hints of chocolate behind ample fruit and some complexity.

There were some almost sherry like aromas on opening so I thought it might be spoiled, but after 2 hours decanted this was lovely, very smooth, fresh but not too acidic, perhaps lacking a little complexity but I will look forward to the next bottle.

Lovely vinous champagne. Krug-like. Long lived, complex, fresh. One to sip and savour.

Merchant blurb: Sourced from a single vineyard and from some of Champagne’s oldest vines, it is barrel-fermented for body and held back for staggering amounts of time before release. The latest release is based around the 2000 vintage with reserve wines from 1999, ’98, ’97 and ’96 before being bottled in 2001 and disgorged in 2016.

Wow, this was much better than I was expecting. Tawny rim, lovely enticing nose; mint, cassis, and some tertiary notes on the palate with freshness and juicy balanced tannins. Delicate and elegant Margaux, drinking beautifully after a one hour decant. If this is typical of 2008 claret I shall get more.

Lovely. On first opening, rather acidic and harsh, but with 4 hours in a decanter it was fabulous. Cassis and dark red fruit, full bodied, long. No rubber here. Tannins and acid settled into a harmonious whole.
I think this will improve. I will get more.

960 bottles, made with minimum intervention with the help of Peter-Allan Finlayson. Natural fermentation, minimum sulphur. Owner apparently a lawyer, hence the name. Light Pinot colour, lovely aromas of mushroom and forest floor with fresh red fruit on the palate. Fairly Burgundian, should develop in bottle.

Much better than the last bottle I tasted in 2012. Red fruit, cedar on the nose. Moderate cassis and spice, fresh acidity and smooth tannins on the palate, moderate length. But after a few hours the fruit faded dramatically, leaving a leathery mouthfeel. Next morning, surprisingly, the fruit had returned somewhat. . Leave alone for a year at least, but I don't see a long future at the moment
