Not as dead as it’s supposed to be. Drink it nquick but don’t throw it out for sure.

Well, it’s supposed to be long gone, but it isn’t.
It’s still excellent.

It’s consistent with the last (barely there) notes. Fruit is there, tannins are down and has some acidity, maybe from age. I’ve got one more bottle and I think I need to drink it, but not before Christmas.

If you have it, drink it. It shouldn’t go to a high end tasting anymore. But it’ll be ok for dinner at home or a party.

I got this on release. I didn’t pay a lot for it then but it was an OK wine. It is no longer hot and for a wine that’s supposed to be long gone I’d say it’s fruits have faded for sure. I have several bottles that I lost track of and opened this one to see if I was to give it away or throw it away.
I’m gonna keep them and drink it. I would drink this as an every day wine and I would serve it at a gathering.
Not at a high end tasting for sure but I’m not ashamed of it.
Don’t wait much longer though.

I was surprised that this wine was still good.
Nothing special, just a decent everyday wine.
They keep a long time if you keep your cellar right.

It’s September in 2018 and I’s 2012 note is dead on today. I haven’t finished the bottle and it still has the cool temperature of the cellar which seems to be what it needs.
If it was here today I’d buy it again to drink now. But probably not to age very long.

You guys really helped me out on this one. I’m going through bottles I let sit too long and this was one I tried after your reviews. It’s still really good.
Not much tannin but good acidity and a good old world wine.
My last one. I wish I had more.

Oh, what a disaster. Some of my cellar is getting some age on it. Too much age. To help reduce it I am making some of the over the hill but still Ok stuff into Sangria. This published drinking window was over in 2011. My cellar is a perfect 55 but 2011. I opened it, smelled it to determine it was OK, poured an ounce or two in a wine glass to see how bad it was and poured the rest into Sangria. Then I tasted the wine in the glass. Did I know I wasted some great wine?!?! I have a bottle left and it won't go into Sangria for sure. From what I could tell from the little I drank of it RUSTYRUDY'S notes are right on target.

I’ll ditto MRBUZZ’s tasting note. To be supposedly peaked in 2013, it’s holding on for a long time!

To be a wine that is supposed to be past its time??? I’ve got one more bottle and I’ll drink it this year or early next, but it’s still a great wine.

Well, for what I supposed to be an over the hill wine, I’m drinking my last two bottles. I pulled one out to see if it was good enough for Sangria.
No Sangria for the last two.

I don’t know how they figured the drinking window. I’m saying 2020 is more likely. My bottle was bought fresh on release and stored right but it is not at the end of life. I didn’t decant and as said previously it was improved after being open an hour. I had it with lamb shank and that was a perfect match.

I don’t know how good my rating number is. This wine has the tannins fully absorbed. It is a little past it’s prime but it is not something you wouldn’t drink by a long shot.

It is definitely on the downhill side of its peak. I had a case of it I bought when it was released. I believe in 2002 and it has always been one of my favorite wines, especially for the price.
I have one more bottle that I will drink soon.
I will say that it is still a very good wine and with dinner it is outstanding.
Drink it up but don't worry about the drinking window writing it off so early.

I pulled this one out because A. I love Gun Bun, B. the drinkability report had it expired in 2006 and C. I smoked a tri-tip of beef and wanted something that would match to go with it.
Now my cellar and wine storage is very good and has been since I bought all my wines, which might give me some better life on my wines.
The cork was slightly softer than ideal when i ran in the worm but it came out in absolutely perfect condition and that was the shape the wine was in too.
I don't have another bottle of this wine (I hate that too) but if I did I would not be in a hurry to drink it. It was very mature but didn't lack tannins though they were perfectly balanced. To the best of my tasting ability I would agree with the last reviewer.
If it were left up to me I would extend the drinking window to 2015.
A GREAT bottle of wine. Drank it over 3-4 hours, poured a taste as soon as I opened it and it was good but barely off which had cleared up at my second taste after 15 minutes in the open bottle. by the time the food was on it was drinking wonderfully and when we tasted it along with dinner we were in heaven:-) Or close. A great wine.

I just am not getting the "not good" off of this wine.
It is rich or extracted if that's a better term and there is a little oak to it but it is a good wine. It needs to go but it needs to go down my throat in 2013.

I know it may be theoretically too old and it surely needs to be consumed.
I would say, however that this still a good bottle of wine.
Mature, good fruit, jammy pleasant nose and good finish. Not a multi dimensional wine now but good acidity and taste.

I have to ditto rwatkin. However I am drinking my bottle on 9/30/2012 and my wine, which I have stored myself is still great and I don't feel is on its ending year. The finish goes on for nearly a minute. I have 2 bottles left and don't feel pressured to drink them.

I drank it in August 2012 and while surely mature I thought it was fine. Nose is still good and tasted fine.

I took this one out because I was sure it wouldn't be worth drinking. It was a $10:00 bottle of wine in 2000 when I got it and I would pay more for it now than then. Not too complex but it is good and easy drinking the hole way through. It is a light, pleasant red.
