This is a big ass gnarly wine that begs for red meat to help cut the tannins. Earthy nose, black licorice and deep dark fruit. It has potential but tasted too young on this night. I would give it 2-3 years minimum and recheck. Good stuff though, just bring a toothbrush!

Killer wine with plenty of stuffing. Graphite, black currants, inky, truffles...yum! Fabulous nose, it was starting to sing at the three hour mark.

Beautiful wine. Refined and not overly sweet. Initially there was a hint of pears and raw sugar followed by delicate burnt orange. Caramel and brown sugar. Nice!

Generally this is a disappointment considering the pedigree. No polish on a truncated finish. The fruit is restrained with a pretty wimpy nose. I gave it a couple extra points because I paid $100 plus for it on release.

I love this. Make no mistake, this is an unctuous, candied fruit style of Sauternes. Look elsewhere if you are looking for acidity. Brown sugar, honey, and even tastes like pineapple upside down cake as mentioned earlier. Dessert in a glass.

Fascinating earth and plum nose after 90 minutes with a crazy hint of gun smoke. This dissipated in the glass. I thought this lost its fruit over the next 90 minutes with the mid palate fruit getting kinda wimpy at the 3 hour mark. If I can find my last bottle I would start drinking shortly after opening. But still, this bottle was a disappointment. Bottle variation?

This has really come into its own and is a terrific bottle of wine. It has the typical crazy Cayuse aromatics that carries you away to a distant land. Earth, blood, berries, olives, with hints of brine and perhaps a bit of licorice. Heaven. Drank with a 3 hour plus decant.

This was just a dud. Poured half of it out. Corked? Probably, but the last bottle was not very good either. Will hold my last bottle for at least a year.

This was a nice wine but nothing remarkable and certainly not worthy of the hefty price tag. The nose is beautiful but the fruit didn’t back it up with a middling finish. I have quit ordering this one and will stick with In The Rocks, and save my money for Bordeaux. When this first came out it was considerably cheaper but a string of good scores has sent the price soaring. On a QPR basis, many of their wines are just not worth it IMHO. Fortunately I have plenty of Cayuse and prefer that for $90 plus a bottle.

Fascinating nose with hints of iodine and plums. This has a somewhat truncated finish with a palate of dense berry, meat, and a bit of iron. We drank at the 3 hour mark plus and think this will get better with time. Next bottle in a year.

Truffles, earth, and dark cherries. Medium bodied wine with a polished finish. fabulous nose. Started drinking at the 2 hour mark and me thinks a longer decant will only allow things to open up a bit more. There is still a bit of tannins hugging the finish, which really makes this wine excel with red meat. Lovely wine, this will be fun to watch over the next 5 years or more.

Funk, brine, grilled red meat, dust. And a fabulous nose. In fact, I could just swill this and be pretty OK. There is a sweetness on the nose that is irresistible. Polished finish, I think the mid-palate could be a bit hardier but that is nitpicking. Drinking quite well and it will be interesting to see if it picks up more complexity. Is there enough back bone to age long?

Ths just wasn’t cutting it on this night. Tasted more like a fine Beaujolais than a Syrah. Tight, lack of depth, unsophisticated. Drinking with a bunch of wine pros.we all agreed that this was surprisingly weak considering the pedigree. I have one magnum left and will hold for at least two years. Too early? Sorta corked? It is hard to say.
