Soft velvety similar to other Altamura's it is a great drink without overexciting the palate. Perhaps a little too plushy for me.

PnP. Solid effort for this type of cab, except it has a slight jammy feel (which I can pick up quickly) that can tire the palate after a while. Something you have to be in the mood for.

Drinking perfectly for a juicy and bold Pinot. It has a lot more structure and elegance than say a Bell Glos Las Alturas, but this is a big boy Pinot no doubt

A bit of a let down from Last Bottle. Light and tart initially, with some time on the glass, the wine opened up but it remained very ho hum. I hope this was result of bottle variation as I have two more bottles.

Excellent drink for the price. Nice Syrah intensity, some structure, smooth, solid QPR.

Solid effort, this wine remains young, like with previous Leviathans, I have found that they improve with a few years of age. Not a wine for the long haul but I'd give this wine 1-2 years to really come together.

Excellent. Took about 1hr to fully open up. This wine has come a long way and is in a very good place now. Great structure, full of body and taste. One bottle left and looking forward to opening that one in about a year.

Solid effort, however, next to a '09 Fleur Cardinale this came across as a lightweight St. Emilion and not as rich and flavorful. Great drinking wine, needs about 30-40 mins to open up.

Well made wine, just a little too sweet and flabby for my taste buds. Next to other Merlots this appeared as a fun, lively wine to drink and yet a bit predictable higher end merlot. Rightly so, some folks really enjoyed this wine and ranked as their favorite. Very enjoyable nonetheless.

A solid performer of a merlot, my friends were pleasantly surprised how well this merlot held up against a lined up of Cali and French merlots. Medium body, composed, a tad sweet but not remained balanced. Monte Xanic is my go to winery when I am in Mexico.

An absolute delight of a merlot if you like big bold cali cabs. Tasted as part of a Merlot tasting, this wine stood out stylistically yet next to some St. Emilions, it does not have the structure and elegance of its right bank distant cousins. However, with its deep chocolate and dark fruit flavors, it was a great wine to cap the evening. Extremely enjoyable and best when you drink on its own.

Better bottle than bottle opened back in december. Easy pleasant drink, though nothing distinctive, but characteristically RRV, a well made pinot for the masses. I cannot imagine paying more than the Last Bottle price.

in an excellent spot right now, this was the WOTN Xmas Eve. A nice balance of richness and balance. A little earthy, very elegant, nice dark fruit. Enjoy now or it can wait for another 2-3years.

Big but very well done, the cab in this blended syrah gives it a little more structure and earthiness. Overall a real pleasure to drink. This was an amazing wine for $35, too bad the recent vintages have gone up to the mid-$50s.

Decanted for about 1 hour. Perfect with a filet mignon at Parc Bistro, this was he WOTN during xmas dinner, just plain beautiful, classic St. Emilion, medium to full body, balanced, nuanced yet subtle.

Outstanding. Took about 1 hour to open up. The wine opened up very nicely, rich yet subtle flavors, balanced, perfect with food, only wish I was eating a rib eye. This wine is in a very good place, I would drink now.

Did not see any improvement from the bottle I had two years ago. A bit ho-hum this time around, perhaps expectations were to high given the maker and the price point. Drink up if you have some left.

Good all around drinking wine, the cab/syrah blend works for me, this is a lot more subdued than similar blends from the Central Coast or Australia, a great sub-$20 wine.

Picked up a bottle of Maximus this week, it was on sale for $17.50, the current vintage sells for $48 at the winery. I figured, it was worth trying one bottle. Great QPR, I went back the next day and picked up the remaining two bottles. This wine is drinking very well at the moment, it had some heft from the age but remains lively and youthful. The wine is light on the oak, smooth all around, evolved nicely in the glass. This is a blend of mostly cab/syrah with a few other varietals in smaller quantities. Drink now if you can find it.

In a good place but you need to let it breathe for at least 30 minutes. No formal notes, this wine is composed, generally smooth with some unresolved tannins and rough edges. Not overly complex and nothing unique about it, a solid drink but was expecting much more at this price point and for this vintage.

Very good, decanted, it took about an hour to open up, restrained at the beginning, with the decant and time, this wine came together nicely, it has a very nice balance between fruit and firm yet refined tanins that make the wine a perfect compliment to steak. The wine can spend more time on the cellar, but in a very nice spot now with a 1-2 hour decant.
