Deep, opaque, glass-coating, garnet-black color. Aromas of black cherry, clove & paprika, cedar, leather. Concentrated and unctuous palate with notes of black cherry & blueberry fruit along a core of iron, crushed stone and baked sweet and root spices. Thick mid-palate depth, with fleshy wide grained tannins. Solid depth on the finish. Needs time.

France and Italy - May 6 to May 10, 2019: Very complex aromatically - calls to mind tobacco, leather, black tea, fig/berry fruit, smoked paprika, rosemary, crushed stone, etc. Broad and rangy on the palate, with elegance. Silky and seamless. Full on the middle, with great finesse to the density. Glides effortlessly through the palate- so much grace and beauty to the structure. Very fine and broad tannins. Tons of depth. Expansive and broad on the finish. Contemplative. Astounding and unforgettable- a singular wine.

France and Italy - May 6 to May 10, 2019: Intense aromatics - cherry, red apple skin, iron, pressed flowers, exotic spices. Very complex on the attack, seamless depth, elegant texture and density - glides beautifully. There are pervasive and intriguing provincial herb notes throughout. Fine tannins, firm. Great depth and length. Outstanding overall.

France and Italy - May 6 to May 10, 2019: Astounding aromatics - exotic and perfumey - starts with Asian spices, dried fig and lavender (but doesn't end there). Seamless on the attack. Elegant fruit, secondary melted stone, flowers, exotic spices, dried herbs - very complex and long. Weightless yet impactful density. Beautifully balanced acidity. Very fine tannins - very polished and stately. Very long finish with incredible depth. Very compelling and beautiful.

France and Italy - May 6 to May 10, 2019: Explosive aromatics - sandalwood, black tea, rose hips, star anise, spices, braised fig. Seamless and elegant palate with a core of red fruits, soil & mineral notes and dried herbs. Lithe and silky density - airy and exotic. Very fine tannins, and an expansive and complex finish. Beautiful.

France and Italy - May 6 to May 10, 2019: Planted to an Alsace clone. Aromas of lemon zest, slate, white pepper, and orange blossom. Generous and elegant. Nice mineral lift. Great acid balance. Nice depth overall. Very nice. For younger drinking. This, along with the Massolino Riesling earlier in the day, will keep me on the lookout for Langhe Riesling.

Dry on the palate with a very nice fruit expression, lush texture, crispness, hints of mineral. Plenty of acid, but not upfront. Good depth. Maybe not distinctive, but provides a lot of drinking pleasure. Very nice.

Clear, medium ruby color. Aromas of crushed stone, pressed flowers, juniper berries, allspice berries. Crisp raspberry & cherry fruit on the palate, with stony minerality, fresh florals and peppery depth. Medium-bodied throughout, with a fleshy structure, finishing with smooth juicy tannins. Very nice.

Chaillot (pure granite soils) - spices, braised cherry & fig, cured meats, flowers and earth. Rich & silky palate with a mineral edge. Full middle, fine-grain tannins, good length

Geynale (granite, limestone, clay, loess) - plum, berries, melted stone & iron, sauvage, spices, lavender. Great depth on the palate, with good lift. Dense and complex middle. Firm-fine tannins. Excellent length.

The two lieux-dits together - Black cherry & plum fruit, spices, sauvage, stone. Silky, dense and rich palate - complex in the middle. Chewy expansive structure. Fine-grainy tannins. Beautiful and expansive finish.
