Surprisingly good at almost 16 years old. See the picture of the cork which has kept this alive for a long time.

Ruddy below says it is probably perfect with a steak. It is. Very dark color. Not too spicy. Full flavor with a fabulous finish.

Still drinking well - I agree with the cinnamon description, both on the nose and in the taste. A lot of sediment. Probably still has some age left in it.

This was a "fruit bomb" with heavy black cherry. Nonetheless, a good drinking chianti for a Saturday afternoon.

The bottle was either corked or this has sat too long.

A nice drinking wine. The most surprising thing about this botle was that the rubber cork was almost impossible to remove.

Sweet licorice aromas when the bottle was opened which dissipated as the wine was decanted. There was a slight flavor of licorice which blended well with cherry and other dark flavors. Will probably age a little more but there probably isn't much left to develop. Overall, a very good wine from a difficult vintage.

An excellent Merlot. Great boquet and fruit flavors - small cab franc gave it a nice bit of spice.

Excellent drinking wine - still a little young and may benefit from a little more aging. The wine store owner told me that the grapes and the winemaker for this wine are one in the same as another "more expensive" wine - there could be something to that story.

Almost "outstanding" (at least according to the rating system). Our house white for several months now. Crisp when opened and still crisp when finished. For the price, it is a great house wine - until I find the "outstanding", this is it.

I don't recall when I got this but it has been in the collection for a while. It was worth the wait. In fact, decanting it for over an hour definitely made it worth the wait. When it was first opened, the cork broke and appeared very dry. When the rest of the cork was removed, the wine itself seemed a bit sour. After being decanted and resting for an hour, it definitely opened up. Though the cost was relatively modest (under $20 if I remember corectly), it was a good wine for the price. The aroma expanded as time went on, the flavor was great and the finish was just long enough. Hope to find some more.

An impressive cab for the money (low $20's). Good aromas which develops as it sits longer. Nice finish. Plan to use as a house cab for a while.

A solid enough cab though there really isn’t much to it. Didn’t open as well as one would like even though it was decanted and left to sit for awhile. Simple finish. An "85" because it is a little better than just "good".

The first of several bottles of this chateauneuf I have - an excellent start. Full bodied. Some spice. As others have noted, this is not mind-blowing but is a good, solid southern rhone from a good vintage. Look forward to the next.

There was a pungent aroma upon opening the bottle which did not go away with time. The initial taste was palatable but left an unpleasant finish. Hoping it would improve, I let the wine breathe for a while with no improvement. The taste improved slightly but the finish became more harsh. Overall, rather disappointing.

Wish I had waited - opened too soon and didn't let it breathe long enough. Excellent flavor from the onset but as it sat, it opened into a much fuller flavor. Will definitely need to acquire some more and let it age longer.
