Big bold cab blend with flavors of blueberry, spice and vanilla. A little on the flabby side and could have used some acid for balance

Had the first night with marinated sirloin tips and found the wine a little too bold for a meal that can typically hold up to a bold wine. On the second night, had with spicy taco meat on a salad and worked better. Closer to a zin for pairing

Nicely balanced, flavorful but restrained Oregon Chardonnay.

Flavors of green apple, lemon, ginger, stones and some salinity.
Restrained alcohol at 12.3%.

Very enjoyable and likely to get even better with some time.

Will grab some more bottles of this (although they probably won’t last)

Nice complexity and flavor profile.
Given the age though that this be in decline, but in a good spot.
Smooth Flavors of tart peach, citrus with good acid balance. Not the typical crisp, tart Sancerre.

Gave this an hour decant - in a good spot now and ready to drink.

Smooth tannins and fruit with flavors of dark cherry, currants and chocolate. Finish was not overly complex, but an enjoyable wine for a summer cookout with the family.

Larkmead is a nice wine and was previously a good buy until several years ago, back when you could get for ~$70. At the current price point, there are better wines, but still a nice enjoyable wine.

Flavors of strawberry, watermelon and some glycerin.
I liked it better chilled (below cellar temp).

Nice first year for this new Rose.

Interesting cooler weather SB from South Africa.
A mid point flavor profile between the New Zealand SB's and the Loire Valley Sancerre.

Crisp flavors of tart grapefruit, glycerine with some salinity and good acidity.

Popped and poured and had over several nights.
Smooth tannins and well integrated with flavors of blackberry, dark cherry, tobacco and spice.

Nice surprise - Given the age and the grape, thought this would be in decline.

Still a good wine with plenty of life left
Flavors of peach, apple and glycerin. Good acidity and balance.

Had with a chicken dish with mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes and white wine - nice pairing. Would also work well with Asian.

Gave an hour in the decanter for New Years.
Smooth tannins and somewhat flabby. Flavors or dark cherry, Tobacco, leather and mint. Interesting flavors, but not as well defined and complex.
New country and location for me, so glad I tried this.

Bordeaux-style blend of approximately 75% Cabernet, 22% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc.

Popped and poured and let this develop on the glass over the next hour.
Smooth tannins with slightly tart raspberry, eucalyptus and spice.
Had with a nice sous vide skirt steak.

Not a typical cab profile. Liked the wine, but not what was expected.
Liked the wine, but will reserve judgement until it has had some more time to open up. Would have thought more cab franc than reported

This is a rich and fruit forward Cannonau (Italian for Grenache).

Not a lot of complexity, but silky full flavors from a warm climate (Sardegna) Grenach. Juicy flavors of Dark Cherry, blackberry with spice and floral elements..

Good pizza, pasta or burger wine or would work well with a crowd.

This was a new grape for me (Catarratto).

Nice dry white wine with flavors of peach, glycerine, saline and stone/minerality. Reminded me of wines from the Liqurian coast.
Had this without food, but would probably work well with seafood and shellfish.

Grabbed this bottle too soon - thought I had an earlier vintage, but didn't notice until I had opened. Could use a couple more years before this is in its sweet spot.

Still somewhat tannic with flavors of red cherry, spice and earth. Still a nice wine, but not as well integrated as a bottle with a few more years of age.

Had this on a warm summer night enjoying seafood by the water - atmosphere added to the enjoyment.

Solid full bodied NZ Sauvignon blanc with flavors of citrus, peach and grass.
Nice depth and complexity - worked great with asian spiced salmon over oriental noodles.
First bottle from this vintner - will be grabbing some more

First time with the Grechetto grape - interesting white

Flavors of apple, lemon, glycerin and peach. Rich and smooth with good acidity. Reminds me somewhat of a rhone white, but not as intense and a little more refined.

Enjoyable grape - will need to find some other options to try.

Gave this an 90 minute decant and continued to improve over the next hour.

Started out excellent, but still slightly tannic, with flavors of cherry, blueberry with light spice and leather. Good acid balance for the fruit.

Over the next 30 minutes, came into its prime - in a nice spot right now with a solid decant.
Nice wine and good value for the money

Popped and poured - was out at a restaurant without a decanting option. Let this open up in the glass.

Really nice wine that was excellent on opening and improved over the next hour. Smooth well integrated flavors of dark cherry, blueberry, chocolate, and tobacco. Big wine with lots of layers, but well balanced and integrated.

First time with Georges III from Myriad - and will need to pick up some more of this.

This was a gift from a friend - so gave it a try even given the mediocre reviews.

Have to agree - not a great wine. Flavors of mild cherry, vanilla and vegetal. Not well integrated or enjoyable.

Had this in a social setting - so had a glass and left the rest for anyone else.

Had this for Xmas eve after a 2 hour decant.
First experience with the grape - and a nice experience from a good producer. Reminded me of a syrah, but with some interesting twists

This was a dark dense wine that was in a nice place. Dense, smooth flavors of plum, blueberry, blackberry and sweet tobacco.

Have heard mixed things about this grape, but will continue to look for interesting producers - a very nice wine.

Had this with Christmas dinner, following several other big wines.
Gave this a 60 minute decant.

This was in a nice place for me. Had it following a Caymus reserve (brought by BIL) that was good but a little over the top. In comparison, this seemed mellow and reserved.

Well integrated , smooth flavors of blueberry, blackberry and spice.
This is ready to drink and in a nice spot.

This was my favorite wine of the night - more in my sweet spot vs some of the other big wines we had for Xmas.

Not a huge fan of Caymus (brought by BIL) - but a solid wine for the style.
Big wine with flavors of dark cherry, blueberry and spice. A little over the top for me - but a good wine if you like this style.

Worked well with the beef tenderloin for dinner

Solid Cali Pinot Noir - flavors of cherry, raspberry, spice and leather.
Bigger bodied as expected from producer and location.
Could probably use a little more time in the bottle.

This is in a nice place - very smooth for a super tuscan (merlot and sangiovese). Was expecting stronger tannins.

Silky smooth flavors of dark cherry, plum and chocolate. Good depth and complexity. Wish I had more bottles of this in my cellar.

Bold flavors of tart cherry, raspberry and spice. Lots of fruit and still a little tannic and disjointed with good acidity. Had a 2014 the week before and in a much better place. Needs another year to evolve and integrate, but a nice wine

This was the second of the pour to impress with the big reds for the Charleston off-line. This was served with some of the best barbeque in Charleston including Lewis BBQ smoked brisket, Rodney Scott's BBQ pulled pork and some incredible side dishes, including a wonderful mac and cheese. Great combos for big wines.

This was close to a pop and pour.

Flavors of dark cherry, blueberry and Howell Mountain spice. Good acidity and balance. Fruit was not as dominant as I would have expected from the location and the vintage.

I would have rated this as a 91 that night, but was able to try again over the next couple of days. This needed the air time and significantly improved with stronger, smoother fruit with more complexity and balance - closer to what I expected from this nice True vineyard fruit. This needed a couple of hours of air to come into its own.

Great combos for big wines.

This was one of the wines that I brought, that was good, but did not live up to my high expectations. I have had a variety of bottles of the Clarendon Hills cabernet from different vintages - smooth, complex and a great QPR. Not the over-extracted style you can sometimes find in Australia from chasing the WA points. Was expecting this to be a good match for the strong barbecue and brisket. This one gets WA and WS points of 99 and 98 points (not that those matter) and very strong reviews on CT.

This was close to a pop and pour.
The bottle started with dark fruit and spice. Flavors of dark cherry, blueberry and cinnamon. However, the flavor profile flattened out in the middle and came back somewhat at the end. Needed some more acid to balance out the fruit.

Tried this over the next couple of days, and did not evolve much.

Possibly this was a great bottle at one time, that is starting to get past its prime. Good, but not great.

This was the fifth wine as part of the Champagne flight for the Charleston off-line.
Served with low country shrimp boil with white shrimp, artisanal sausage and corn on the cob - wonderful pairing with some great aged champagnes.

This had slightly sweeter, warmer fruits than some of the early bottles of aged champagne. Flavors of golden apple, almond, and lemon curd. Not as complex as some of the other champagnes - another nice effort.

This was another one of my favorites of the champagne flight. This was my first experience with Cristal - had heard that it was very good, but somewhat overrated compared to similar priced wines. This one was great and did deserve a great reputation.

The Cristal had velvety warm flavors of apple, pear, orange peal citrus. Wonderful wine in a good spot.

Beautiful bottle as well.

From the champagne flight - this was probably my favorite of the night (among some heavy hitters).

Still a baby with a lot of years left. Nice complexity with flavors of apple, peach, biscuit, honey with good acidity. Still a little taught, but a really nice wine. This should continue to get better in the coming years.

Interesting Chenin Blanc from Sandlands. Have a few bottles of a different vintage in my cellar, but have not tried before.

More of a leaner style of chenin blanc with flavors of pear, lemon and some spice. Solid acidity - overall a wine and good QPR.

I tend to use Chenin blanc for cooking - works well with poaching salmon and an enjoyable wine to drink with the meal.

This was a nice sparkler we had following a white rhone - 2014 Clape St. Peray

Possibly influenced by the previos wine, but this was a leaner, lively champagne style with apple, lemon and a little yeast flavors and good acidity.

Interesting enjoyable wine to have on a hot day in Charleston.

Interesting white rhone, 100% Marsanne.
I usually enjoy rhones more in the Fall as a hardier white to have with stews and more savory dishes.

This wine had some nice white fruits (pear, white peach) and flower nose and palate. Crisp acidity, that I have not had before in a white rhone (they tend to be flavorful, but more flabby)

This was a new flavor profile for me and was enjoyable

Had this at the Charleston off-line for Burgundy night.

This was part of the desert flight that also included 1988 Château d'Yquem.

This was an interesting wine, that had been aged in barrels for most of the time and bottled in recent years.

A good and interesting wine, but tough competition with the beautiful Sauternes served along side. My oldest wine to date, until we had a 1889 Justino's Madeira Malmsey the following night.

Paired well with the Pain d'Epices Bread Pudding/Sourwood Honeyed Apricots deserts.

Flavors of apricot, baking spices, raisin and honey. Nice desert sipper and an enjoyable wine to try.

Had this at the Charleston off-line for Burgundy night.

This was part of the desert flight that also included a 1936 Cave de Rivesaltes

This was a beautiful wine and a really nice d'Yguem. Light gold color and paired beautifully with the desert courses with complex, never ending flavors of peach, apricot, honey, caramel and creme brulet.
Really in a nice spot now after 20 years.

I don't always search out desert wines, but this was a real treat that paired beautifully with the desert of Caramelized Peach soup with green cardamom and Pain D'Epices Bread Pudding with sourwood honeyed apricots.

A great way to finish a spectacular night

Had this at the Charleston off-line for Burgundy night.

This was part of the second Burgundy flight of the night, served along side the 1999 Lucien Le Moine Corton-Clos du Roi and 2006 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques Vieille Vigne

All of the wines were close to a pop and pour, so they were tasted slowly to allow some time to evolve in the glass. This started off somewhat closed with some darkfruit and barnyard. After some time, the barnyard blew off
Started out more dense, without as much character. Developed into darker fruits with tart dark cherry, plum and some spice. Not as complex as the others, but worked better with food with the tea roasted duck with plum sauce
