Grapes from the Runcot vineyard also went into this wine in this vintage. I can imagine drinking this chilled and paired with grilled eel marinated in beetroot juice.

Once in a while there is a wine that stirs the soul. And it is thrilling to taste it, feel it, at its perfect moment. This is one of those wines. It is difficult to put into words and they won’t suffice, but I’ll give it a try. It’s presently opaque ruby with a black core – invincibly youthful in colour. Intense and concentrated, yet polished and elegant. Aromas come in gentle waves changing constantly from dark fruit to ethereal components to tertiary and roasted notes and dark minerals. Abundant glossy tannins and perfect acid structure. Timeless beauty.

Deep dark, nearly opaque, ruby. Rich cassis, graphite and ripe black cherry. Plenty of fully ripe, velvety tannins and firm acid structure build a yet unyielding frame. There is still a lot of power and certainly depth that is yet to be released. Will continue to improve and gain in generous complexity over the next 5-10 years and offer great pleasure at least until 2035.

Dark ruby with garnet highlights. Blueberry, black currant and cedar box. Juicy dark fruit and pleasant floral components are textured with plenty of very fine grained tannins that still have good grip. Very classic with all structural components in good proportions. At peak and offering tremendous drinking pleasure, but will hold well until at least 2030.

Dark ruby-garnet. Heather and plum with nuances of cedar and juniper. Very complete and elegant with abundant silky tannins and vibrant acid that lift dark berry fruit and floral components. Great finesse is demonstrated with a sleek, nearly slender elegance, yet deep concentration. Very complex, long and still showing potential for developing gracefully in the bottle. Presently offering tremendous pleasure, but it could be even better in 5 years and should hold at least to 2035.

Deep dark ruby, nearly opaque. Fresh fig and damson plum with a touch of charred cedar. Glycerin mouthfeel with plush tannins, but enough grip and acid to keep it well-structured and agile. Long finish with cigar box, cassis and smoky graphite nuances.
Wonderful to drink now – at peak, but should hold well through 2030.

Deep dark, nearly opaque rub with garnet highlights. Floral nose with violets and ivy with dark roasted coffee and coconut. Very ripe on the palate with slighted lifted fruit a little VA, a little gamey. A wine that demonstrates a very present hand of the winemaker. Perhaps this will come together better with bottle maturation, but it is a bitt too ripe and the oak is still too much in the foreground for my taste.

Transparent garnet-ruby. Ripe raspberry fruit, clove and cardamom, toasted cedar and sea buckthorn comprise a floral-herbal-spicy-fruity concoction that is deliciously appetizing. Lemon-lime acid refreshes and highlights the fruit, which is carried by wonderfully silky tannin. This wine is a breathtaking beauty with superb finesse, elegance, balance and timelessness. Although already offering marvellous drinking pleasure, this wine is still vibrant and youthful and will continue to improve. It is in the end, the timelessness of this wine that sets me in awe. It is superb now, it will change but remain extraordinary for many years.

Transparent medium garnet. Smoky, flinty notes mingle with rowanberry and ash tree. Succulent acid and crisp, slightly astringent, but fine-grained tannin determine the structure. Sweetly extracted fruit plays a delicate, light-footed dance on the long, elegant finish.

Deep, dark, but transparent garnet. Lovage, sandalwood and dark macerated prune fruit comprise a mellifluously paced bouquet. This pleasant surprise continues with seductive lemony notes that refresh the red berry fruit on the palate, but then astringent tannin disappointingly chokes the finish.

Relatively dark garnet with a transparent rim and a little depot. Initial smoky nuances reminiscent of toasted cedar are followed with oleander, crisp deciduous forest leaves and grouse whortleberry. Fascinating herbal-fruit continues on the palate and are joined by balsamic-ethereal components like lemon-thyme and then raw venison. The wine ends with the impression of abundant, robust tannin and a meat-culinary character with dark spicy minerals and lingers long and vital on the finish.

I was at the end of the pouring row, so my wine is no longer transparent, but the colour is medium garnet. Intense aromas from the forest - porcini, lingonberry, damp earth – and balsamic nuances with crushed forest berry fruit. Round and mouthfilling, yet lemony acid and chalky minerality lend lift and refresh the berry fruit and toasty oak. Intensity and ripeness, yet delicatesse that in the end lands and lingers on the fruit.

Transparent, medium dark garnet. Mature aromas of stewed black beans and shiitake form the background for balsam-infused plum and macerated black raspberry. Satiny, rounded tannin and medium acid is fully integrated. Discreet barnyard and balsamic notes remain on the finish. This wine is currently a little past peak, but still offers abundant drinking pleasure.

Medium transparent ruby all the way to the rim. Incredibly bright cherry and red currant with notes of lemon zest and white flowers. Incredibly taut, lemony acid suspends crisp red berry fruit. The tannin is very silky and delicate and mingles with abundant chalky minerals to delicately frame deliciously appetizing red forest berries and subtle chervil notes. Delicacy and finesse. Mouthwatering fruit lingers long on the long citrus, herb, red berry and mineral finish.

From the magnum. Transparent, dark ruby-garnet. Delicate roasted coffee bean notes are laced into plenty red berry fruit – raspberry, bing cherry, and red currant. The abundant tannins are incredibly silky and further enhanced by the finely chiselled acid frame. Light-footed, delicate and juicy, but certainly not without depth or length. Very elegant. This wine has developed splendidly. The silky texture and combination of fresh primary fruit with the first tertiary aromas is currently magical.

I've got the last part of the bottle in my glass and considerable depot - Deep dark garnet and definitely not transparent. Prune, fig, and notes of ivy and orange concentrate. Bright, juicy acidity lends youthfulness to the fruit. Truffel and game come in on the back palate. Abundant tannins are fully resolved and silky. This wine is at the back end of its peak and still shows just a hint of primary fruit amongst the tertiary aromas and flavours. The seductive texture cloaks the long finish in plenty of interesting flavours.

Transparent dark garnet-ruby. Very seductive aromas and flavours of pine sap, raspberry jelly, acacia blossom and mandarin filet. Abundant very fine-grained, silky tannins. Succulent high acidity is fully integrated and highlights the red berry fruit. Cool smokey notes join the other flavours on the palate. Aromatically complex and wonderfully textured. Wonderful to drink now, but will continue to evolve and provide plenty of drinking pleasure until at least 2021.
