I hadn't meant to let this sit quite so long -- this was purchased in 2013 from Calvert Woodley -- it is a direct import and was featured by them -- I like the style -- and this is drinking quite well right now -- for a wine in this price range, I agree with their writeup, that it 'punches above its weight' and compares well with wines priced much higher.

I agree with the review from another vintage -- this needs a long decant. It was not really pulling its weight right out of the bottle. But, after an hour decant (and not before that time) it moved into a very nice drinking range. Still not an 'over the top' in terms of my tastes, but a quite nice wine and easily enjoyed. It is a more powerful base than I would have expected and has an unusual color palette. Smell is pleasant, but not easily described. No long aftertaste. Clearly well made and the flavor combination is appealing.

I agree with the review from 2022 -- this is drinking alright, but has some odd rough edges that I don't remember from previous times. This is number eleven from a dozen, and before this, the level was consistent and enjoyable. This is now at an awkward stage.

This did not age well. Based on the other two bottles (purchased 2016), I had thought this was going to get better and better with age. While it is not spoiled, it has a strong bitter after-taste. The alcohol comes through strongly, without any pleasant overtones or flavor senses. Its almost like carbonated alcohol with a bit of a wine flavor on top. I'd say this is only going to get worse for anyone still having an unopened bottle.

This has aged in a way that I hadn't expected, but maybe that only reflects that I need to sample more from Vieux Telegraphe. Right now it shows age with much reduced tannins and a nearly empty acidic sense. A very pleasant and long-lasting taste. But, not an over the top sensory explosion at the start. The fruit sense, and the smell are quite weak. I wouldn't expect this to evolve much more from this stage, but may not be sensing where else it can go. I was expecting the nicely blended sensations, but not quite so much of a reduction on the tannic/acidic/fruit realm. So, a nice one to have opened for our anniversary, but not quite where I'd expected to see this after eleven years in our cellar (yes, kept in wine fridge and via Kermit Lynch importer). So, most likely similar in state to others (some 1900 are in cellar via the menu on the right at this time) have kept.

This is a good time for drinking this vintage -- right now it is within a very nice space -- it has matured and has the signature blend of tastes and smells.

Still excellent -- but agree with other recent reviews that this was the time to open and enjoy it -- the flavors are all there, but its not quite the 'out of the ballpark' hit that we'd been expecting. This was opened for a birthday celebration, and perhaps we'd anticipated it too strongly from the other bottles. Really one to be savored and enjoyed.

I'm happy to note that this is back to an excellent drinking window. The one bottle could have been slightly off or simply mis-timed. Aftertaste is long, filled with traditional notes and the mouth-feel is 'on'.
