Great bottle of classic Bordeaux. Tannins fully resolved. Plenty of red fruit along with earthy characteristics. Lovely with Thanksgiving dinner.

Everything is perfectly integrated and balanced at the moment. Best out of the some heavy hitting ports and tawnies.

This bottle needed more time to come around. Very tight and unremarkable nose. On the palate this was dominated by oak and spice along with dark fruit. Disappointing at the moment.

Perfectly stored bottle. Dark ruby red in color. Lots of smoke, leather, spice and beef on the nose and palate. I also got some stewed tomatoes and iron on the finish. This developed nicely over the course of two hours and started to fade a little by the end of the night.

Cork was soaked almost to the top. Very youthful looking in color. Deep ruby in color.

Just like the previous bottle this had a sweet cherries on the nose. Loads of cherries and wild berries on the palate along with a hint of spice. Very burgundy like. Glad I still have more of these.

Drank at Thanksgiving dinner. From 375 ml bottle. Cork saturated to the top.

Dark in color (coke like). Nose of tea and citrus tropical fruit. On the palate this wine really showed well. Nice acidity with some sweetness left along with flavors of tea, honey and lemon tartness. Medium plus finish. This was much different than the bottle I had a year ago.

Another very disappointing '70 wine for me. Nose had sweet cherries and earth/leather notes. Palate was kind of shot with violate acidity and really nothing else.

Bottle showed signs of seepage. DOA. Can't get past the nose on this, absolutely no fruit left just a lot of bandaid and moldy basement notes. Mushrooms and acidity is all that is left on the palate.

Flawed/no score.

This fell flat after the outstanding '66. Kind of weird nose of banana, overripe apple peel and almost a brown sugar tea like note. Really nothing left except hints of red fruit and tea leaf with some noticeable grip to the palate. Very one-dimensional and uninteresting.

Very youthful in color. Wow...what a nose on this wine, the best of the '66s. Leather, earth and lots of red fruit like cherries. Still has some grip on the palate with a long finish. The wine of the night for me. This is what I love about perfectly preserved old bdx.

Very musty, maybe slightly off with a corky/bandaid notes on the nose. This was slightly better on the palate, with mushrooms, musty basement, bell pepper with a slight cherry on the backend and finish. If i was going to score this it would get a 86 pts. but since this might be slightly corked I will reserve judgement.

This was a lovely old claret. Very earthy on the nose with flavors of mushroom,. forest floor, leather along with some red fruit still clinging on. On any other day this would have been a great wine, but it was overshadowed on this night by the '66 Montrose.

Bottle was reconditioned at the chateau in 2007. Fill into the neck. Very youthful in appearance with a wonderful golden color.

Wow., what a nose on this. Very complex with layers of honey, quince, apricot, minerals and spice.

Still has lovely sweetness with zippy acidity to keep everything balanced along with a ong lingering finish. This wine was all about finesse and balance. Very feminine in styled sauternes.

94pts.

There was maybe a glass and a half left over in the bottle.. I reopened it and poured the remainder 13 hours later and it was still going strong. I believe a similar bottle could be held for a few more decades.

Light gold in color.

Got a blast of petrol notes right off the bat along with yellow fruit, spice and a hint of floral notes on the nose.

This had tart yellow fruit, spice and apricot. Nice acidity, but just a tad boring (simple) at this stage for me. Medium plus finish.

90pts.

A very well stored bottle with great fill. Very youthful in appearance (light gold coloring), would have guessed this to be much younger of a wine. Soapy, lemon spritz on the nose. Lemons with custard like creaminess almost buttery feel. Very interesting and still quite drinkable in my opinion.

Perfectly stored old burgundy.

Very lovely perfumed nose, red cherries/berries, slight funk (barnyard) and almost a sweet cherry cough syrup type note on the nose.

In the mouth this was as stunning as on the nose, cherries and strawberries in abundance along with grippy tannins. Medium plus finish. I kept going back to this wine over the course of the tasting (2 1/2 hours) and it was still singing. This was one of my favorite wines of the weekend.

95+pts.

Matchsticks and flint galore along with crushed rocks.

Mineral driven palate with apple core. At this point the acidity is really the only thing holding this together. Short finish. Didn't like this nearly as much as some others in the group. My nod went to the '71 Chablis.

Creamy nose of lemon curd and custard. Great acidity, powerful presence with notes of apples, hint of lemons and this lovely creamy texture. Complex wine already. Very young still.

Heavy plum, spice, tobacco and loads of vanilla (oak) on the palate. Not sure where this will go in the future but not a fan of this style. I love the wines from the 60's to 90's, just can't drink these new vintages anymore.

Base neck fill from 750 ml bottle. Very light ruby in color with orange rim.
Nutty with caramel and smokey beef notes. Game notes along with tea and some red berries clinging on. Surprisingly long finish on this with very nice acidity which held everything together. This doesn't have any upside potential and should be drunk in the next two to three years before it starts to decline significantly.

Base neck fill. Dark garnet in color. Nose of forest floor, beef jus, that minty note I get all the time with GDL. Still very fresh with lots of fruit on the palate. Slightly gamy, red/black berries, plums and spice. This is drinking extremely well right now. Well stored bottles will continue to evolve over the next 5 years.

Great bottle of mature wine. Great nose of olives, red berries and gaminess. This drank like an older italian Barolo with the great acidity it possessed. Medium plus finish. I could see this holding on for another few years yet. Overall this was a fascinating wine to drink.

Popped and Poured. Deep purple core that was very slightly bricking toward the edges. Lovely aged cali cab nose of beef jus, red fruit and forest floor. Caramel/nuttiness along with dark fruit, game and earthy notes. Alcohol was peaking out a bit on the finish which made this a little disjointed. Overall a nice bottle of aged cabernet.

Nice deep coloring still, just very slightly bricking. Right off the bat this was very vegetal, with more breathing notes of spice, meat and a woody/leather scent unfolds in the glass. Plum, wood spice and more leather. Tannins integrated and smooth. Medium finish. Overall this was a sound bottle of mature Cali cab.
