Nice white wine, but it doesn't seem much like Vinho Verde. Alcohol is higher at 11.5%, almost no bubbles (it should be at least lightly effervescent), and quite low sugar content but still quite acidic. But as a white wine at this pricepoint, it is just fine.

Nice nose, fruity with some earthy notes - a bit old-world-ish. First sip was nice but as we drank more, it became harsh (not smooth, someone commented). High acidity, not much tannin, unbalanced. Finish was long but not that pleasant. A disappointment, really, because we tasted it at the winery and rather liked it.

Beautiful plum on the nose, a bit nutty too, and a hint of leather. Well balanced, full mouth feel, long pleasant finish. Still needs a bit of time for the tannins to come down, maybe a year or two. I'm glad I have a second bottle in the cellar.

Big fruit! More like a new world wine than the usual Portuguese products. Mostly plum on the nose, good balance, long finish. In the mouth, it reminds me a bit of port (not surprising when the main grape is Touriga Nacional. Great with food but also very pleasant by itself. Probably needs some time in the cellar to develop more secondary characteristics.

Greaat example of Okanagan Merlot, blended with some Cab. Soft tannins, well balanced, cherry on the nose, full mouth, long finish. Drinking wonderfully right now.

Wonderful wine! The first sniff made me smile - black cherry, plum, some leather, a touch of spice. In the mouth it is very well balanced, complex, with soft tannins and a full mouth-feel. Deliciously long finish. I think it's at its prime - I can't imagine it improving much more.

Beautiful! Just like the last time I tasted it a couple of years ago. The best of Aussie GSM. But I doubt it will get any better, so drink up! Be sure to decant, there was a lot of sediment in the bottle. And it took about an hour to open up after decanting.

Subtle, berry nose with a bit of earthiness and leather. Medium bodied. Full in the mouth, well balanced. Only a hint of tannin left. Soft, long finish. Went beautifully with the grilled steelhead, but was also excellent alone before the meal.

Very nice! All the best traits of Okanagan Merlot, plus the additional structure provided by the Cab Franc and Cab Sauvignon. Pleasant fruit on the nose (but not a "fruit bomb"), plummy like I expect OK Merlot to be. Some earthiness, and maybe leather? Big, round mouthful of wine, smooth, mature tannin. Long, pleasing finish. Went beautifully with our beef roast. Ready now, so drink up!

Earthiness on the nose. A very strong taste and tons of tannins. Definitely needs food. But overall not bad and it has good balance.

Lovely bright plum nose and a bit of earthiness. Full mouth feel, just a bit of tannin left. Long, smooth, delightful finish. Drinking very well now but will probably get better in the next year or two.

Drinking wonderfully right now. Medium body, not much tannin left, and quite smooth. It didn’t have much of the strawberry that I associate with PN. But good fruit, mostly cherry, a bit of spice and earthiness, and some sweetness on the finish. Well balanced overall, and a long, smooth finish. If you have any, I’d say start drinking it up - I don’t think it has a whole lot longer to age, maybe a year or two.

Surprisingly big nose on this, reminiscent of NZ Sauv Blanc with grassy earthiness. But the pallet is quite different - thick, a bit oily, not the usual brightness/liveliness that I expect. I suspect this was put on oak, and a bit too long IMHO. Overall I enjoyed it, and it certainly improved once the food come out. But there are other Sancerre labels at this price point that are better.

Very disappointing. Big, in-your-face cherry jam bomb. Extremely fruit-forward, reminding me of the worst of Australia 15 years ago. Full bodied, but not in a nice way. Unbalanced, high acidity, too sweet. Very high alcohol - it says 14% on the bottle but I think it's higher than that based on the speed with which it affected us. Maybe time in the cellar will help (it is quite young) but I'm not going to risk it!

Thick, dark colour. Strong fruit and and bit of mustiness on the nose. Slightly harsh taste that increased as it warmed in the glass. The balance is off - too much acidity. You can do better at this price point.

Wow! This is an excellent bottle of wine, and drinking perfectly right now. Deep colour. Notes of black cherry and pepper, some earthiness. A full palate, warm and soft, with a beautiful long finish. Tannins have all but disappeared. Caution: quite a bit of sediment so be sure to decant. And aerate or let it open for a while before drinking.

Getting better with age, still some tannins that could soften a bit. Nice nose, excellent structure, long smooth finish. It got raves from everyone at the New Year's Eve party and I'm glad we opened it early!

Pretty good basic Pinot Noir, made in more of a new-world style. Medium bodied. Strawberry on the nose, and some leather. Pleasant taste, quite soft. Nothing special, but quite drinkable. Way overpriced in my locale.

Wow! This surprised everyone at our dinner party. Some even thought it was an old-world wine, and some liked it better than a much more expensive Aussie Shiraz. Tannins have softened nicely since I last tasted this a year ago. Great fruit but not overpowering, well balanced, excellent structure, big mouth feel, long, pleasant finish. I wonder if there's a dash of viognier in it? It went beautifully with grilled lamb. Just entering it's drinking window.

Big fruity nose, plums with some earthiness, a bit of leather and some spice (I couldn't decide what). Full mouthful of wine, good structure and acidity. Long finish. It went very well with grilled steak. The tannins are still quite powerful and it wants a year or two more in the cellar. Caution: there was lots of sediment in the bottle after being down for three years - decant carefully (I put it through a fine sieve while decanting).

Like sipping wine while sitting in a plum tree! Also some cassis on the nose, and some earthiness. Full mouth feel, well balanced, long and pleasant finish. Still some tannins but they are quite mature and it's drinking well now. I would have guessed this to be an old-world wine, not from this tiny and almost unknown Canadian wine region. It went wonderfully with grilled steak and "all the fixin's".

Subtle nose of strong-favoured tree-fruit - plum? Pleasantly smokey. Big, full mouth feel. Wonderfully thick and heavy. No tannins left, as expected from BC Merlot at this age, but good structure nonetheless. Long finish, pleasant all the way. Quite ready to drink now - don't delay! I'm so glad I have a second bottle.

Wonderful, mature wine! Black cherry notes on the nose, with some berries - blackberry? Cassis? Do I detect some leather? It brought back fond memories of our stay in the Barossa - a warm, friendly, outdoorsy place. Big, full mouthful of wine, not tannic but you can feel that they were there recently. Rather subtle overall for a new-world wine. Long, pleasant finish. Drinking very well right now but will probably be just as good for several more years. It went perfectly with the lamb chops we had tonight.

A very tasty medium-weight PN. Berry notes on the nose - mine always picks up strawberries from Pinot and Whitehaven is no exception. More fruity and earthy. Muted tannins, even with the young age. Full mouth-feel and a good, smooth finish. Definitely new-world style. Surprisingly good for such a youngster, although it's a bit pricey in my neighbourhood.

Interesting blend! The colour is the purple you would expect from a young Argentine Malbec. There is a lot of funkiness on the nose at first, possibly from the Corvina, but it faded as the wine opened up. Nice mouth feel, lots of young tannins, and peppery. Of course, Masi is an old-world producer trying to do new things, so you would expect aspects of both old and new world in this wine. Overall, good potential but whether it will improve with age remains to be seen. It went quite well with grilled sausages for dinner - more than enough body to handle the spiciness.

Big, flavourful mouthful of wine. Apple and pear on the nose, with floral notes and some earthiness. Big on the palate. Long, smooth finish. Definitely new-world in style, and an excellent example of such. It went wonderfully with cassoulet at dinner, with enough depth and power to complement it's spiciness.

Many characteristics of a Burgundian, but it comes across more as a new-world wine. Lots of fruit, a bit of strawberry and raspberry on the nose. But none of the earthiness/barnyard that I expect. Nice mouth feel and a good finish. Very drinkable, just not great - especially for the price.

Medium bodied with good structure and complexity. Strawberries on the nose (but I always get that from Pinot). Long finish. Mature tannins. Ready to drink now or would age for a while. A bit pricey in my part of the world, but so is everything else here.

Rather light in colour, but that's deceptive. Typical strawberry on the nose (or at least that's typical of what I get from most Pinot). Full and round on the palate, good acidity, medium finish. Not a really complex wine but very nice and ready to drink now.

I pulled this from the cellar thinking it was a 2006 (all the other bottles in this purchase lot were 2006). But this one was a 2004! Very tasty - a big, full mouthful of wine! Plum and some earthiness on the nose. Long, pleasant finish. This has all the things I like so much from BC Merlot (50% in this blend). But definitely at the end of its drinking window - so drink up if you have some left!

Very nice! This has all the tasty, new world attributes that I like so much in Okanagan Merlot (even though this is from the Similkameen valley, "next one on the left"). Fruit forward and likeable as-is, but it actually got better with the pork roast. Leathery, earthy, dark tree fruit, a bit peppery. Ready now - drink up, people!

Not a bad wine. A bit tannic at first but opened up after a while. Good fruit and fairly full-bodied. Pleasant finish. It tastes surprisingly young for a 2006. Good but not what I would expect from a Gran Reserva.

Wow, this was a surprise to everyone who shared the bottle! Rich, satisfying, dark fruits, full mouth. Fruit-forward but not overpoweringly so. The Malbec is tempered nicely with the other grapes, Bonarda (which I don't know) and Syrah that definitely comes thorough. This is definitely on my "buy again" list.

Good, not great. The Semillon is nicely down-played by the Sauv Blanc (which for me personally is a good thing). Nothing bad to say, but also nothing spectacular either. I bought it on sale and at $5 off it was a good buy and fine for every-day consumption.

Drinkable, but not very good. We had it right after an Argentinian Malbec that was only a few dollars more and there was a substantial difference. By comparison, this one didn't have a lot of flavours, but the ones it had were harsh and sometimes unpleasant. Nothing about it said "old world", but the up-front fruit wasn't very peasant. It sure would be nice to get some good Cahors wines in our local stores, but "the monopoly" probably won't get there (sigh).
