2011 Dunn Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain

Representative of the newer style of Dunn Howell mountain, more approachable upon release but still very capable of aging well for many years. Really very nice upon opening with the telltale candle wax bouquet. Very well focused fruit with caramel overtones, balanced tannins with an impressively long finish. Improved with an hour and a half of decanting as is the case with most Dunn wines.

4/2/15, 6:03 PM - I believe the style has changed a bit to be more approachable upon release but the the quality or age ability has not changed. I believe this has more to do with tannin management among other things. It's still and will always be a great wine. Change is good as long as you keep alcohol under control (under 14%).
