Napa Valley "125th Anniversary" designation.

Mildly expressive nose, aromas across the spectrum. A mouthful of young Cabernet, velvet entry interrupted by tannins and oak you would expect in a 2018 high end Cabernet. Correct concentration, fruit acid balance well done. It seemed to close up on day 2?

Attempt at Rating likely unfair at this stage, @$41. I will buy more for aging 3 years +.

Not ready yet. Drank from a 375 and it was still a big tannic dark fruit bomb. But the 14.95% (ha!) alcohol was well covered and there's enough acid to even this out over time. Will never be elegant but will someday be great with a big ribeye. Found both 375s and magnums on a deep sale and if looking for an everyday drinker in 5 years, this is a good QPR right now.

1/9/22, 12:33 PM - Helpful review. Just picked up a couple magnums for $88 pieces.

At $100 a bottle from the winery, this wine is incredibly disappointing right now. Everything from the nose to the finish is awkward and simply not enjoyable at any price. I have a couple more of this vintage and don’t plan on touching them for several years…hoping they are in a dumb phase now. 🤞

It’s nice, but pretty mediocre. Oak is strong but fruit and acid are basically dead. I know it’s a bad vintage and it’s their base blend, but this is nowhere near worth the value of the price ($80). Drink yesterday.

    12/5/20, 4:59 PM - Agreed. Unimpressive.

Discreet nose not to mention absent.
On the palate, light and simple (too much) with a rather pronounced bitterness. So generic and not interesting.

This is my fourth and final bottle. The first I had a while ago was meh... The second and third were much better. Now, having my fourth it is really singing. This is a good time for this wine IMHO.

Tasted at WL. Sour taste obscured fruit and everything else. Would taste again. Have not tried many 2012 Bordeaux. Price is not a bargain at $30.
  • CBJB commented:

4/21/15, 5:20 AM - What about at $12.99? Online retailer has it at that price for the next 3 days.

Unoaked chardonnay with malolactic fermentation and lots of fruit expression. Apple, peach, apricot, butterscotch and gardenia. Full body, great mouthfeel. Long finish. Alcohol is a bit high but you would expect that with this much fruit presence.
  • CBJB commented:

    12/8/14, 6:24 PM - This is a Cab not a Chard!

Disappointed in this wine. 70% Malbec and 30% cab. Very non-descript...kind of like ordering the house red at a restaurant. Ok if that is what you are expecting, but not at this price.
  • CBJB commented:

11/26/13, 7:13 AM - According to SQ this wine is 80% Cab and the balance is a blend of cab franc, merlot, malbec and petit verdot.

Ultra strong in concentration, with a clumsy spice flavor and a strong solvent-like aftertaste. No finish whatsoever. There is some good fruit (sensed at the front of the taste), but it goes awry in the making.
  • CBJB commented:

5/23/13, 6:13 PM - So why did you give it an 88? That's a pretty high score for a wine you don't like!
