Such a wonderful Brunello. Earth, dark fruit, acidity, and alcohol almost perfectly in balance and so easy to pair with food.

Such a stunning expression of what Pinot Noir can be. This wine possesses incredible depth with grace. Paired with herbed salmon, pasta with vodka sauce, and bourbon roasted carrots and the experience was sublime.

Very clean, citrus and green apple, then layers of mild vanilla and caramel with a long finish. Not weighed down by excessive oak and butteriness. Paired beautifully with roasted branzino with ladolemano sauce. Will hold my last bottle for a few more years.

Dark red blood on pouring. Decanted for 1.5 hours. Dark fruit, full body, umami on nose and palate. Paired with old school steakhouse dinnner and this was kind blowing. Continued to evolve over the next couple of hours - wave after wave of fruit and umami. Long, lingering finish. Easily one of the best wines I’ve ever had.

Deep brick red on opening. After 2 hour decant, dark, opaque , and viscous. Earthy, herbaceous, subdued dark fruits, almost like unsweetened preserves. Paired beautifully with Australian Wagyu ribeye steaks and panzanella salad, but amazing with gnocchi in gorgonzola cream sauce. Evolved over a couple of hours. Simply a joy to savior this wine!

If you are looking to be snooty about a wine with a classic homemade smash burger, this is it. A nice balance of bright and dark fruit, earth, and spice.

Dark without being brooding. Slight tart fruit followed by ripe dark berries , earth, nice mineralogy. Tannins smoother than silk. Paired with Iberico secreto, charred broccolini, patatas bravas. A little bit of heaven right there!

Incredibly smooth, mild tannins. Ripe re and black berries fruit, mild earthiness, even dark chocolate, fully integrated. Very refined and balanced. Seamless with A5 wagyu from Nagano and bone marrow shiitake rice.if you find this, get it.

Brick color, a little light body but still paired nicely with prime New York steak. Fairly short finish, but opened up after a bit. Some fig and chocolate notes. Oddly, also paired well with Tiramisu! Probably a little past its peak so drink now if you have any.

So here I am, 14 years later and what a transformation. Nose is strongly dark chocolate. On the palate, chocolate and herbal notes are balanced by slightly tart dark fruit. Has nice acidity that plays well with tomato based dishes and grippy tannins. Finish lingers with very dark chocolate, basil, anise. Still evolving over a few hours and so enjoyable. One bottle left, will see how that is in a few years!

This has a beautiful tartness that balances the wine so nicely. Paired with yuzu cake from Frances Patisserie in Pasadena. These were made for each other. The cake brought out the subtle sweet fruit in the wine and the wine enhanced the yuzu in the cake. So glad we have more of this wine to experience!

Translucent red with some brick at edges on pouring. 1 hour decant. Medium body. Nose of tart cherry, rhubarb, mild strawberry with a little earth and mushroom. Similar palate. Very elegant and finessed. Paired beautifully with pork loin chop simply seasoned with shallots, garlic, salt and Sichuan pepper. Really brought out the sweetness of the pork. Long, lingering finish of wonderful umami. A really beautiful wine!

Mostly Cabernet Franc, with some Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and a touch of Petit Verdot. Color is inky purple with a ruby rim. Medium body. On the nose, there is blueberry, blackberry, and a gentle fragrance of rose. As it airs, a waft of cocoa is noted. On the palate, blueberry and blackberry are forward and prominent immediately, with a little slightly tart plum following, along with a slightly sweet cocoa rounding everything out. As the initial fruit fades, a mild pepperiness follows toward the back of the tongue, reminiscent of a very light dusting of smoked paprika. Later, this melds into just a hint of Ceylon cinnamon. The finish is very unique, lasting a good minute or more and has a lingering, pleasant minerality. I would love to pair this with pan seared elk or bison cooked not a second past medium rare, perhaps with a savory blueberry butter sauce. It is also delicious with artisan dark chocolate that has dark fruit notes, or just to sip on a warm summer afternoon by itself (running water and birds chirping make this even more satisfying). If you find this, get some. It is truly worth seeking out.

Deep brick crimson on pouring, significant sediment. Decanted for 2.5 hours. Nose of old leather, tobacco, earth, herbs, dark ripe fruit. On palate, this wine is viscous and exudes umami. Paired with ribeye in bleu cheese butter and a bison New York basted with wagyu fat compound butter. Transcendent is a good description of this wine when aged and paired like this. 1 bottle left for this vintage, but a lot more spanning the coming years!

Nose of dark fruit, damp leaves, slight menthol. On palate, same notes in great balance, but also dark chocolate, anise, graphite, and black pepper. Perfect acidity to tame American wagyu ribeye cap and seamless with sautéed shitake. So complex, beautiful, and sublime.

Ruby on pouring, deepens with time in decanter. Bright nose, cherries, raspberry with musty earthiness in background. Bright acidity, silky tannins, some spice and anise come through on palate. Paired with herb roast chicken with sweet onion pan sauce, brocollini, panzanella salad, whit bean tomato soup. This wine sings with rustic food like this. So enjoyable and just gets smoother over the evening and cocoa powder, vanilla notes emerge. Terrific balance.

Tight on opening, needed time to settle. Decanted then tasted after an hour with Japanese beef tasting dinner. Stunning with prime, American wagyu, and A5 courses. Deep red, full hody, lingers on palate and just sings with dark fruit, earthy undertones, and savory herbal notes when paired with beef. Kept evolving and getting better with each sip. Still young, glad I have more as this can probably go a good 15 more years.

Brick color on pouring. 2 hour decant with evolution to deep blood red and nice viscosity. Dark fruits, a little old leather, slight menthol on nose. Palate feel is moderately thick. Ripe blueberries, black plums, prunes with some leather, earth, and pleasing mineral on finish. This Brunello was born to pair with grilled lamb. Beautiful and lush, very nice!

Ruby red with rust at edges. Bright nose. Initially tart like pomegranate with some orange and a hint of earth and herb. Over an hour, settles out and some earthiness is more evident. Much more balanced and less astringent. Medium body, moderate finish. Very enjoyable with chicken parm and pasta with ratatouille.

Took a few hours to develop. Decanting a must. Heavy sediment. This was a deep, intense, brooding, earthy, musty (in a good way), leathery brunello. Fruit is more background but lingers on the incredibly long finish. Just sublime with prime ribeye in simple herb rub and matsutake sautée. Wow.

Brick red on pouring, evolves to deep ruby over 1-2 hours in decanter. Initially warm/hot on palate with little fruit. Over time, nose develops much like sherry cask, with tart cherry and blackberry on palate. Moderate tannins but not overpowering. Intriguing and fun wine!

On palate, charred herbs, dark fruits, forest floor, leather, mild tobacco. Paired with pork loin chops marinated wirh rosemary, thyme, sumac, grilled and topped with caramelized onions, garlic - a little bit of heaven. This will hold for a few more years, but is drinking perfectly now. Everything is in a beautiful balance and this is extraordinary wine. Wow. I am very happy right now!
