A great example of a California cabernet with some age on it. Not a fruit forward example, but more mineraly and herbacious. The fruit is a muted dark cherry with hints of black berry. The tannins are very silky and not obtrusive at all. Let it breathe for a bit before drinking - it definitely had some funkiness on the nose when first opened.

Nice yet simple dark Cherry. Minimal tannis and not much at all on the finish. Tannin was so smooth that it almost wasn't present. Not a wine to brag about, but for the $7.50 that I paid for this one, I am very happy with the purchase. A nice wine to have around for the general populous - a true wine lover might be let down by it. Great value at my price.

Just an enormous wine. Very medicinal and hot. A little sweet for my tastes. This was my second bottle and hasn't changed much over time.
Day 2 -some of the heat has gone away, but still just too sweet

I've had this three times previously and never was it as good as last night. I decanted this bottle for about an hour and then drank over the next two. The color was a clear deep garnet. This showed hints of minerality, dark dark cherry and some plum. It had very masculine tannins, but with the time I let this breath, they weren't too bold. This wine has great aging potential, but with enough time in the decanter, don't be afraid to pop a few early. This is a screaming value at $11

Nice nose. Overflowing with sweet rasberries and a subtle hint of chocolate. A bit to sweet and jammy for my tastes, but a nice crowd pleasing wine

That CdP was fantastic. It blew my mind how such a young CdP can be so elegant. I was not expecting this at all. I decanted it for an hour before heading over then put it back in the bottle. As the night went on, it jsut got better and better. If you like dark heavy oaky CdPs, this is not for you. For $30, I'd love to know if a better CdP is out there

Nice clear ruby color. Tart Cherries abound. A very simple, boring wine. I will not buy again. didn't get any better with another day in the decanter

Not at all sure what IWC saw in this wine (93pts). The nose of my bottle was very muted. Exceedingly mouth drying and all I could really pick up on the palate was slight hints of red berries and some green pepper. Maybe my bottle was off - maybe it needs more time decanting. I have some left and will try it on day 2.

very enjoyable. Not a mega fruity syrah. Fruit slightly muted. Thin and elegant versus thick and syrupy.

This bottle was very disappointing. Had previously with much more enjoyment. This bottle was completely lacking everything, fruit, acidity, etc. I think this one was off (no score given do to possible flawed bottle

Nice light ruby color. Sweet berries. Very slight tannins. If I had more I'd drink them son. It seems the fruit is starting to fade a bit.

Deep purple color. Huge nose of meat, dark fruits and possibly a small hint of tobacco. Dark berry on the palate with hints of pepper. Tannins aren't huge, but are certainly present. A few more years would do this one some good

Very interesting, thought provoking wine. This Sav. Blanc is nothing like an y other I've had. The only way I would know it was such was from reading. This wine had a deep golden color and a nose of wild grasses and faint melon. Slightly herbal on the palate. Slightly acidic, but not the tangy type of acidic common with Sav Blanc. Some heat on the finish. Long finish loaded with apricot and a bit of salinity. This is my only bottle. If I had more, I'd hold off for a bit before opening another. Very enjoyable

Very fruity. Lots of sour Cherry, mild cola, and a little spice. really opened up. I even had it on day two and some of the tart fruit blew off, so if you like a more mellow pinot, decant for a few hrs

Drank alongside a 96 Montelena Estate and a 96 La Jota. The Staglin held it's own, but was out classed by these others. Upon openning and decanting for 1/2 hr, there was a lot of green bell pepper. An hour or so later, the Pepper gave way to eucalyptus and black fruits. Nice wine, but nothing incredible. Very good effort for the vintage though

Wow, this was a great Pinot. Very young but opened up nicely in the glass after an hour or so. Tight in the beginning, but by the end of the bottle classicaly rich bold pinot. Not Burg in style, but not over the top new world style (like KB os sea smoke) either. A happy medium for me. Plan to buy more and lay then down for a few years.

Very "blah" sav. blanc. Lacked acidity and had small bubbles that were very odd. Fruit was muted. Probably wouldn't buy again. Wine Spectator says "zesty acidity"...I didn't get that at all

Admittedly opened too early, but not my favorite by any stretch. Very vegetal and green. Had a somewhat bitter finish. A lot of spice and strong tannin. Could definitely benefit from some time in the cellar to let some of the tannin mellow out and allow more fruit to show.

surprising wine. Based on the price, i was not expecting much from it at all. the nose was a little muted, but nicely integrated tannins and tastes of dark fruits (berries) emerged after an hour or so. Based on price, I may buy a bunch to drink over the next few years.

I love Le Cadeau wines. This one needs gobs and gobs of air. The nose is almost completely lacking at this point and the flavor profile is fairly simple. I have a few and will plan on keep them for a few years.

Not really sure what Jay Miller (the Wine Advocate) saw in this wine. I felt the fruit was weak and there was next to no tannin. Tastes very artificial almost candy-like. If possible the wine is almost too smooth. At the price point, may still be a good buy, but personally I'd rather some cheap penfold's wines

All I can say is wow! After 33 years, this thing is still kicking. In my opinion the tannins and fruit are amazingly integrated and well balanced. I'm not sure how much more life this baby has, but man did I enjoy it. For a petite syrah, the fruit was more muted than what I would expect if younger, but taking age into account there were no complaints. I didn't really take formal notes while drinking, so please excuse my informal ramblings on this one!
