Browning rim. Maybe a hint of VA. Big, spicy fruit - some brown sugar notes. Quite a bit of acid. A very good bottle, but problem starting on the down side of plateau, so drink up soon. Some sediment - so recommend decanting.

Overripe, over extracted, with bizarre flavors for Pinot. Tasted along with an Oregon Pinot that was a balanced style. Hard to drink. I am clearly in the minority here. I would never guess that this is Pinot. Yuck.

tart cherry, great fruit no sign of age I usually drink my Anthill after 5 years but maybe not ageing them long enough.

I think the note putting end range of this wine in 2019 is wrong. I think it’s only now really aging. I’d put it more 2025-2030. If I had another bottle I’d wait. Fruits are cherry Icee along with anise and some toasted oak. Acid is plenty high to let this age further.

1/20/23, 3:50 PM - right on, a baby. Don't drink now unless you have more. Most of the pride cabs of that decade are now drinkable but this one barely.

Closed aromatically, maybe some smokiness, crushed berries. A darker version of pinot accented by oak. Weighty and sweet, showing a bit too much wood influence.

Rated this 93, 93, 89 (losing fruit), now 93. 89 must have been bottle variation, which is rare with this winery. best value in good pinot out there.

tannic edge on opening gone after one hour, silky smooth at 1.5 house, what a wine. several years left, lucky to have a few more.

As I read some of the other notes the one theme that rings true for me is air time.

PnP and enjoyed right away. Nose had the signature Antica Terra red fruits and funky earth which is very enjoyable. A tad disjointed on first attack but as this sat in the glass it opened up. Red fruits, earthy and hints of clove and oak spices.

Day 2 this wine was amazing. So lush and integrated. All of the funky earth elements were more subdued and the red fruits were back in primary position. Medium ++ in body with great fruits and spices on the finish.

Drinking very well with additional air time. Just a gorgeous wine.
  • theharve commented:

2/8/20, 9:40 PM - almost totally agree. Funky and disjointed on opening. Gassed and corked.
next day way better. Gassed and corked. 2 days later: superb, 96. This has way more life left based on the above.

good but not as tasty as last time. I'm beginning to think some wines are better at home than after traveling to a restaurant as well as other factors like wine glasses.

in magnum, bottle was clean, no SOS, but when I cut the capsule I noticed -- uh oh -- red stain on the entire top of the cork, then poured into decanter at 10am, way too much bricking for my comfort, nose in decanter was funky... palate was fine but felt soft for '99 (even for Chrm Cham), nice mellow fruit, not a lot of cut... took to dinner after returning to bottle at noon, it had improved but bottom line is I think this bottle had minor heat / other damage... I bet a bottle which didn't would have merited 93 or 94

Would agree with the comments to pre-open or decant an hour early on this bottle. It's a thin Pinot upon first pop n pour. The nose was muted, hints of wild strawberry blooms, and evergreen. The red berry fruit did come out to play more after the second hour, and a bit of rustic herb and a venison meat quality that was quite nice. Not sure this Pinot is worth the price point for me personally. Had been hoping for a bit more. We had with a really fine meal of fresh veggies, fruit, grilled prawns, polenta, and tuscan roasted chicken. Should have been some great pairing, but it missed a bit.

3/25/17, 8:51 PM - one glass with coravin. the opposite of thin. big well balanced wine not at peak. glad i have more.
