Starting to age gracefully: garnet hues are starting to get prominent. Nose is still powerful and pleasant: stewed black fruity, toast, vanilla, licorice, tomato leaf. Very pleasant on the palate with good structure, pleasant tannins and good flavors that mirror the aromas. I think it is peaking now.

3/29/20, 6:04 PM - I saw your comment just in time! Still have a full glass left. I will let it sit for a few hours. Will see what happens.

On another note: Montelena used to be one of my favorite wines. In my cellar the oldest vintage of Montelena is 1998. I stopped buying it about 5 years ago. I feel the something has changed and it is not what it use to be

Clear deep ruby color. Clean nose of pronounced intensity of black cherry and plum, wet stone, cedar, prunes, leather and chocolate, Wine is still developing. On the palate it is dry with medium plus acidity, medium plus tannins, high alcohol, medium plus body, medium plus flavor intensity of liquorice, vanilla, leather, chocolate and prunes. The finish is medium plus. Very good wine, enjoy now but has enough muscle to last for 5 to 7 more years. Good Body, Length and Intensity, lacking in Complexity.

    6/12/19, 8:03 AM - Hello,

I don't really understand your question. I think 2007 Napa Vintage was very good. I think this wine is at its prime now, and probably will be good for another 10 years. My personal experience with BV is that some of the corks are not of a high quality: I had several bottles of the same vintage develop leaks through the cork.

Bottom line: nothing special. Slightly hazy medium garnet. Clean nose of medium intensity with aromas of red cherry, orange marmalade, lavender. Hint of nutmeg, vegetal aromas. Wine is developing. In the palate it is dry with medium acidity, medium minus tannins, high alcohol, medium minus body. Medium minus flavor intensity of cranberry, grass, mint. Not much more. Finish is medium. Good wine to drink now. Not worth aging.

    3/30/19, 11:18 AM - Good Morning,

What makes Cellar Tracker is so valuable is unbiased reviews from regular wine drinkers like you and I. We don't have any agendas, we don't get paid by winemakers, distributors and other interested parties. One can get a true idea on how good (or bad) a particular wine is if enough people post their thoughts.

But, be it as it may, a score of 85, according to Cellar Tracker scale, makes this wine in my opinion "Very Good to Excellent"

As you can see for yourself, my review of this wine is one of the most extensive and systematic, not just "I like it, give it a 90" type of review. When I review wines, I use a "Systematic Approach to Wine Tasting" method used by WSET, and I have a WSET Level 3 Award in Wines with Merit from WSET. I highly recommend, if you are a serious wine connoisseur, to familiarize yourself with WSET or similar wine education organization

On the wine itself, as you can see from my review, it has only primary aromas and flavors, it lacks severely in Secondary (post fermentation and development) and Tertiary (maturation) aromas and flavors. I also recommend that you use BLIC mnemonic to judge a particular wine: B: Body, not very substantial (medium minus) L: Length, the best part of this wine, it's finish is medium and satisfying, I: Intensity, aromas and flavors of this wine are only primary and are very basic at that, C: complexity, only primary flavors are present, no secondary or tertiary are present: pretty basic wine

    Cheers!!!!
