12/14/22, 1:24 AM - Lol Stefan. Ty you both for your comments. I should also add that the 50th Vintage text on the front of the bottle makes it look extra special.
10/10/20, 3:03 PM - @JBee: Thank you for the comment. My initial tasting notes and opinions are always before the food pairing, giving the wine some air or using venturi when it is too tight. I do a mix of red and whites with pesto, as there are many reds that pair beautifully with pesto, at least for my palate.
11/11/17, 4:00 PM - Crasdmek: The community generally doesn't enter a score for a corked or defective wine. A rating assumes a bottle in good shape. Otherwise, you skew the score, making it harder for all of us to quickly identify good wines. Thanks.
10/19/17, 9:23 PM - @Badmonkey, while vintage is important, so is the vineyard and winemaker's style (among many things). If you read Parker's review for this wine, he mentions that it "should age beautifully for 15 or more years. This is a stunning wine, but, of all the Robert Craig 2012s, the one that requires the most patience. Forget it for 3-4 years and drink it over the following 15-20. (RP) (10/2014)"It is probably just in a funky stage right now.
10/22/17, 10:13 AM - @Badmonkey I had mixed feedback speaking with winemakers or reps on a recent trip to Napa. A few did indeed mention that the 2012s were early drinkers. Most of these were fruit-forward, bigger production wines (think Caymus). However, there were others who make low-production wines that told me their wines always need 7-10 years to fully resolve tannins and reach the kind of complexity I look for in my expensive bottles. I guess there is no harm in waiting, given the experience a few of you have had with this bottle. So thank you for the review!
8/22/17, 5:50 PM - Nice JVIZ. Enjoy those bottles!
6/20/16, 5:17 PM - Hey Russ! Good to hear from you. Everything going well down here. And you? This wine is one of the best I have had at the TW tasting. Glad you liked it.
6/29/15, 6:08 PM - @BuzzzzOff I am not sure how much longer it will last. Although I don't think it will fall apart in the next year or anything, I just can't see this evolving anymore. In fact, when I tried it in late 2013, it started to show a bit of heat after 1.5 hours. None of us let it reach that mark this time around, so I don't know if history would have repeated itself. Also, the tasting notes were practically the same, so for me, there was little to no evolution in the last year and half. For what it's worth, WS has a drink-by date of 2014, while RP estimates 2022. Go figure!
11/12/13, 10:48 PM - I saw it a few days ago and I definitely added more to my inventory. It's a no-brainer, especially with free shipping.
12/25/12, 1:16 AM - Just had this wine tonight. You described it perfectly.
Thanks for letting us know about this problem. We will review your comments and be in touch soon with an update.
