Very accessible now, well balanced, expressive nose with cassis, black cherry and vanilla.

Pure and seamless on the palate with no harshness. Very polished. Drink over next 3 years.

Ridiculous value... needs an hour to open up, great aromas of cassis, black cherry and black raspberry, well balanced mouthfeel, with a long vanilla tinged finish. Lush, modern, and very accessible now.

Nose very closed, even after 3 hours, shipping shock?

On palate, very smooth, berry notes, well framed acidity keeps things lively. Very good tension on the palate.

This is a leaner (13% ABV) wine with tart cranberry and red fruit notes. Burgundian in style.

Quite mature, showing a lot of secondary notes. Decent QPR but drying tannins and mouthfeel prevent this from being a true stunner. Quite mellow at this stage in its evolution.

Floral, plush, modern & ripe.

Focus on black fruit flavours like cassis and black cherries with that trademark orange zest quality that I find in so many RM Pinot's. Very good texture and rounded mouthfeel.

Two hours in decanter... Great smooth mouthfeel, medium to full bodied, with some good tannins holding on for a 30 second finish. Ripe, plummy black fruits with tobacco and cedar notes alongside cassis. Youthful but very accessible now. Delicious.

Cellared since 2012.

A bit short on the finish, and markedly declined by day 2.

Elegant, tannins almost fully resolved. Acidity on the finish keeps things fresh, but lacking structure to age much further. Bought & cellared since release.

Drink up.

Cellared since release.

Some pretty coarse tannins / mouthfeel upon initial opening. Plummy, black cherry, graphite and cacao notes dominate. Still plenty of grip and life left in this bottle, though the lack of a sensual mouthfeel and a bit of brett in the background (which blew off eventually) result in the score above.

Good effort for the vintage, will continue to drink well for at least 3-5 more years.

Better on 3rd day when stored in half-bottle in fridge... suggests this needs a long decant or a few years of bottle age to really strut its stuff.

Very different from bottle 15 months ago.

Much more mature, tertiary, savoury, herbs, gravel, smoke, dusty leather, earthy. Finesse, but lacking structure and fruit. Very flat.

Seems to be a bit of bottle variation with this wine, even when bought & cellared at the same time.

Better on 2nd day.

Good length, medium to full bodied, still quite youthful with no bricking, still some hidden tannins on the finish. Concentrated blackcurrant and plum notes, with cassis and chocolate notes with a hint of pain de grille.

Bought & personally cellared since release. Good QPR.

Had this at restaurant previously and remember being disappointed. Now I know why.

This wine opens quite muted and dumb, and really takes 90 minutes to start singing. The transformation is remarkable.

Lots of brambly high toned red and black fruit, piercing acidity to keep things fresh, very well balanced and doesn't feel like 14.8% ABV.

Great value under $40 as well.

Purchased at winery. Big, modern style, a bit of oak & heat peaking through when served at room temperate, needed a decant to really open up. Accessible and drinkable now, good acidity adds freshness to finish.

Made by Chris Carpenter from fruit harvested at 1600 ft elevation.

Great QPR.

Relatively light bodied for an RM pinot, with a light touch of oak. Predomenantly red fruit and jam notes. Sappy, intensely fruited, but juicy and fresh on the finish.

Really took 2-3 hours in the decanter for it to really start singing... that being said, tannin levels are low, so this is very approachable now. Drink over next 2-5 years if you have any.

Full bodied, plenty of grip & tannin, tons of black fruit, with plenty of persistence on the palate. Crazy how different this was from the previous bottle drank one year ago, despite being purchased at the same time from the same retailer.

Needed a bit of time to open up... definitely a richer, fuller bodied style of sonoma coast pinot clocking in at 14.4% and showing a bit of heat when served at room temp. Clove, nutmeg, spice, pepper and black fruit dominate.

Blackberry and liquorice, vanilla notes, still plenty of tannin lurking in the background in this full bodied and plush wine. 5700 cases made and still widely available for under $80 with nearly 15 years of bottle age!

Took a long time to open up. Decant and 1-2 hour wait strongly suggested.

Earthy, thyme, spice, over red currant and cranberry. Bright finish with a touch of oak belies 14.6% alcohol.

The base of the wine is clone 115 and 667, with small amounts of “828” that was whole cluster pressed and blended in for an overall total of 10% whole cluster.
