Last of 6, but first one to be problematic - it was on the cusp of being oxidised. Time to drink up else you will be burned. I thought BdLB had dodged premox but evidently not. Very disappointing.

I've had several halve bottles of this recently and it's in a lovely primary place. Let it open up over an hour in a decanter, and you'll be graced with a very nice, quite fruity yet graphite heavy bordeaux that isn't too oaky. It's quite reminiscent of paulliac. Tannin is really quite soft at this young stage, and the acid level is right in the zone. Overall, just a lovely drop of wine that handles a steak superbly and really displays 2016 in all its glory.

Good VFM. Moderate length, still a bit tannic but not coarse. No hint of vintage heat/flabbiness. Drank over 3 hours, and by the third the merlot had come to the fore with a nice mocha note. Perhaps lacking just a bit of depth but it's hardly thin. Good, not great, but quite a bit of headroom for improvement. Leave for 5 years at least and I think it'll be a very good wine.

This has changed from an exuberant young wine into something quite hard and not enjoyable. It's become foursquare and awkward now, a lot of tart fruit and rough tannin. I would sit on these now for a good 5-10 years. Drank from half.

Flabby and ridiculously tropical. Maybe time will help. Decanting didn't save us. I don't think this will ever really be up to much but don't expect a lean kabinett from this wine - it's really full throttle.

Drank out of 375ml. Extremely backward right now. NR as it wouldn't be representative. Leave well alone for a few years.

A strong whiff of VA which did not blow off. It's wild and I suspect not for everyone as a result. A little bit of heat on the finish, but the tannins are quite supple and there's possibly just a small lack of acidity. A decent effort and about the right price, but overall lacking precision. Nevertheless, it remains very drinkable.

Still feels very primary, took a while to open out. Mousse is fine and disappears quickly though in a zalto universal. Fundamentally, not that balanced. I think time might help a bit to smooth out the initial aggressive acidity, but I suspect it entering its somewhat disappointing peak now. Use a flute/narrow glass.

A perfect condition bottle. I would say into it's drinking phase, not at all primary but buckets of time in hand. Could easily be a top BDX if blind - so cool and mineral. All in balance and quite typical, with quite a bit of blackberry and black cherry fruit hanging around. Acid all á point and tannins close to resolved. This is what it's all about and likely to be wine of the year.

Acceptable. Nose is fantastic, very rich cherry fruit and also a little earthy, which is overall quite surprising. Palate is medium in length, quite hollow on the attack and settles out to be a little hot/unbalanced. The fruit tastes a bit "fake" or manufactured, quite bizarre. Easy enough to drink, certainly not offensive, but I wouldn't buy more (although it was cheap).

Outstanding wine. Still has plenty of time left in it, but has everything that old school Imperial GR should have.

Been through 3 of a six pack won at auction recently. Condition looks outstanding and corks are in good condition, however every single one has been shot. I strongly suspect this wine is just over the hill rather than faulty bottles. Some hints of oxidation, a little bit of tannin still there amazingly, but overall - knackered.

Needs time, quite flat, heavy tannin still but fruit is tight and unyielding. Not in that "enjoyable" young wine stage unfortunately. Hang on to 5+ years.

Phenomenal. In such a beautfiul place right now with enormous length and vitality, the fruit is really accessible and the tannins are really quite delicious, providing a very decent structure. I note this bottle was in appaling condition, mid shoulder and a sticker saying "imported to Puerto Rico" on it, so it's been to the carribean and back...! Wine of the year for me so far.

On the downslope, highly recommend to drink up. Classic pomerol and an honour to drink but it's now rather short and leaning towards acidic on the finish. Nose is divine though.

For the money a lovely wine indeed. Not particularly traditional rioja but very smooth and the bottle doesn't last too long at all!

Stunning nose of coffee and chocolate, really beguiling. Palate has a beautiful balance of acidity and fruit, more coffee and chocolate with succulent cassis, very smooth and nigh on resolved tannin after a short decant. Length is the only thing that falters with this wine, it's not got the developing length that I would like - otherwise it would be near perfect. A seriously impressive wine, in a stunning place right now if you like medium term drinking St. Emilion.

One of the "least" VA afffected bottles of musar I have ever had - was in fantastic condition. Gorgeous nose with hints of sweet balsamic and menthol. Palate extremely light footed, but very drinkable. Hard to say where this will go but plenty of enjoyment there right now.

Expected more. Short finish with a brisk acidity that isn't very appealing. Stunningly seductive nose though, but I think the previous bottle was better.

A bit disappointing. Rather thin on the palate with fading length over the time the bottle is opened, muted nose and the oxidative style seems overdone, the other flavours just feel "inaccessible". Really expected more of this. Will probably leave the last one for 10 years to see what happens to it. I can't say I have any desire to drink it!

Overly sweet with no weight on the palate. Reasonable acidity and length, but gets sickly to drink.

Possibly one of the worst rieslings I've ever drunk. Searing, searing acidity, totally out of whack. Could well have been flawed but I daren't have another glass to know for sure.

Drank this over the course of 10 days, with one glass every other day or so. By the 5th day, it had really turned into something special, and the waxy, buttery overtones lathered the palate like a pair of swedish broads in a sauna. Stunning stuff, and this wine has a long future ahead of it. Just remember to open it two days before you consume...

Good - nice appley notes and robust acidity. Could really do with waiting a couple of years to properly settle down and let some weight develop on the palate. Good potential though.
