2 hour decant helps to open this up, Big John is a consistently good Zin from this winery. As in previous vintages, this is a bold wine, with strong red berry presence, along with a touch of oak.
Red
Went nice with grilled salmon, lots of berry flavors (strawberry, currants, red berries), earthy, nicely blended.
Rosé
Light rose color, crisp and acidic, notes of strawberry, peach, and stone fruits
Red
2020 Ridge Mazzoni Home Ranch Sonoma County Zinfandel Blend, Zinfandel (view label images)
2 hour decant, Big and bold, oak and vanilla, dark fruits, this one is quite smooth. Others have mentioned some smoke impact from the 2020 Sonoma fires, but I didn't get that. Of course, palates are different and YMMV.

Revisiting this from about a year ago. the jam, cinnamon & mild spice is still present. Still plenty robust, especially on night two. Smooth, with a full finish. Bottle did throw a fair amount of sediment when I decanted, so pour carefully.
Red
Decanted for an hour, served with grilled tri tip and asparagus/mushrooms/yellow squash. Dark cherry, blackberry, and cedar. Some vanilla and tobacco on the palate. Full body, with a lingering finish.
Red
3 vintages in succession that are very consistent. Blackberry and raspberry, some oak, soft tannins on the finish, dark and brooding.
Red
Decanted for an hour. Lots of berries on the nose, taste includes raspberry, cherry, and blackberry. The berry presence extends to the finish, which is supple and soft.

Red
Always a treat, with black currants, black fruits, and a solid structure. Great QPR from Bedrock.

White
For an unoaked Chardonnay, this has quite a bit of body and structure. As in previous vintages, green apple and pear are most noticeable. Good acidity, with a smooth and full finish.
Red
Larson does Cab's consistently well. This vintage showcases the usual cedar, oak, and black cassis. Full bodied, and finishes long.
Red
Revisiting almost 2 years after my last tasting. Notes remain very close. Still getting the leather and tobacco, the blackberries might have taken a step forward, always a solid offering from Justin.
White
Nice straightforward Sauvignon Blanc, with notes of pear, crisp and tasty.
Red
2020 Bedrock Wine Co. Heritage Wine Pato Vineyard Contra Costa County Zinfandel Blend, Zinfandel (view label images)
Short decant of about 45 minutes. Fruit forward, raspberry, blackberry , some licorice, oak stays in the background. Ready to drink now, but would certainly benefit from more cellar time.
Red
Lovely dark cherry nose, dark fruits, some vanilla notes, tannins have smoothed out nicely. Drink this one now, as it's very full flavored. Finishes nice and long.
Red
Decanted for an hour before sampling. Nose is a bit muted, but dark fruits come to the front in the taste. Some evidence of oak, and the tannins have receded to the back. Full and long finish.
Red
2019 Ridge Mazzoni Home Ranch Sonoma County Zinfandel Blend, Zinfandel (view label images)
Similar to the 2018, with blackberry, raspberry, some vanilla notes, very smooth and enjoyable.
White
Crisp and dry, hints of apple, stone fruit, nicely acidic, melon, and a touch floral
Red
3 years to the day (minus 1) from my last tasting. Holding up quite nicely, and looks like it will last for a long time.
Red
Decanted 2 hours, on Christmas Eve Eve, Big notes of black cherries, nice and smooth and well blended, fruit forward, good sipper while the grand kids open presents.
Red
2021 Bedrock Wine Co. Heritage Wine Papera Ranch Russian River Valley Zinfandel Blend, Zinfandel (view label images)
Decanted for 2 hours and drank over the evening. Supple and full, this is a wonderful zin from Bedrock. Pick a berry type, and it will come out as this wine opens. The fruit is concentrated and lively. I have a few more and will be eager to see how this one evolves over time.

Red
Dark fruits, blackberry, tobacco, leather, and plum. A bit tannic on the finish.
Red
Notes from day 2, raspberry, some black pepper, even a touch of dark chocolate. Decant if possible, give this one some aeration, or just hold it longer and you will be rewarded.
Red
Full bodied, with good fruit. full mouthfeel, with cranberries, cherries.....well done!
Red
Big and bold, with lots of fruit left. Decanted for an hour, then drank over the next few hours. Luscious and deep, went well with brie. This is a keeper. Glad I have another bottle.

Quite restrained, fairly fruit forward, no typical Syrah boldness, I did get some of the smoke that others mentioned.

Update - remainder of bottle two nights later - much smoother and fuller. Fruit still forward, but no smoke noticed. Guess that means this needs a good decant.
Red
Decanted for 90 minutes, has held up well and still has life left in it, black currants, oak, and nicely blended together.
Red
Always a solid merlot, even if it won't knock your socks off. This seems more like the '18 than the '19, with notes of vanilla, currant, and leather.
Rosé
Very nice rose, a bit more intensity than others, went very well with our appetizer course on Thanksgiving.

Light body, certainly drinkable but nothing really stands out. Larson's other reds tend to be much bolder.
Rosé - Sparkling
Nicely done, even after being open for hours, the bubbles are nice and crisp, notes of pear, apple, some strawberry. Would buy this again.
Red
Blueberry, cocoa, and vanilla mix superbly for a well blended malbec. Full finish and quite bold.
Red
Always a favorite, so well blended and balanced, rich, deep, a touch smokey, blackberry, even a bit of salt?. Will keep coming back to the Ueberroth.

Red
Very consistent year to year from this vineyard, bold, raspberries, oak, drinking very well on its own, or with food.
Red
Solid QPR, lots of cherry and dark fruit notes. Needed a couple of hours to open up, as it was quite closed upon opening. Smooth, and well blended.

Dark fruits, blackberry, mild tannins, agreeable wine with pizza and greek salad.
Red
2 years since my last tasting. Holding up wonderfully. Tannins have continued to smooth out, while the fruit is even more well blended. Drinking really well.

Rosé - Sparkling
Quite serviceable sparkler, has a good body, and lively bubbles. If you want a pink sparkling wine, you can do much worse than this.
Red
2 hour decant, and drank over the afternoon. Deep red, with a rich full nose, notes of cedar, oak, strong tannins, blackberry, black pepper. Went well with grilled sausages, lasagna, and onions and peppers.
Red
Very little to recommend here, despite the low price. Thin, acidic, even sour, no real pinot characteristics. Received as a gift, won't purchase in the future.
Red
Decanted for 2 hours. Dark, quite dense, deep flavors of dark fruits, oak, vanilla, touch of chocolate, tannins are quite well softened. Went well with grilled burgers and cabbage salad. Nice example of the benefits of letting a bottle sit.
Red
11 months since my last visit to this vintage, and the fruit is still quite lively. Very smooth, with a full nose.
White
Rich gold color, notes of apple, pear, brioche, some solid oak, along the lines of a classic big California Chardonnay. Very enjoyable.

Very pale, almost clear, notes of lime, pineapple, lots of acidity, some minerality, fairly thin. Finish is even a bit tart.
Red
Decanted for 2 hours, really enjoyed this one. Oak, dark fruits, tannins have smoothed out nicely, good long finish, very well blended, a testament to what a decade of aging will do, and to the overall greatness of the 2012 vintage.
Red
2019 Newsome-Harlow Meritage Calaveras County Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Always a well done blend, with berries, cherries, vanilla, and hints of chocolate. Improved significantly on the second day, so give this one some aeration time.
Red
2+ years since my last visit to this wonderful zin. Simply put, this is an outstanding wine, complex, full of flavors, which are so very well blended, its a treat every time!
Red
Holding up quite well, layers of chocolate, dark berries, leather, and a touch of smoke. Paired with grilled sausages and grilled bell peppers and mushrooms.

9 months since my last tasting, continues to develop nicely, I get more full raspberry now, and the spice is more prominent on the finish.

Poured this for a Labor Day party, sampled the balance of the bottle next day. Improved over my previous notes, as the fruit has toned down and blended together much better than on day 1. Has always been popular with guests for a mid afternoon outdoor event.
