Tom's note made me open one to check what's going on. This bottle was fine. It was as balanced as expected, which is to say not so much. But it was a decent bottle of high octane CDP. I guess you get what you expect with this one. Big, ripe, not much nuance, but works well with grilled meats.

9/2/19, 11:47 AM - As you suggested, my bottle must have been a one-off -- not corked in the classic sense but perhaps stripped of its flavor? I too opened another bottle and found it a lot better.

1/11/21, 5:18 AM - Ron, I popped another bottle and it was much better. But I can't see it improving much. I have one left and will drink it soon. Thanks for the feedback. As you say, this wine is about what you expect.

Opened for an hour before serving. Fruit is dried and tired. Fine and few tannins. Black fruit flavors with a good dose of anise. It's a pretty wine now and still tasty but I'm drinking it up before the fruit fades any further.

6/30/19, 12:30 PM - My notes are consistent with the previous bottle I opened, so I highly doubt that it's in any dumb stage at this time of its cycle. It's still enjoyable, but not how I remembered the early bottles. I have two left.

Well past its prime. Maderarized, oxidized and gold in color. Delicate apple and tropical fruit flavors now masked by flaws.

1/29/18, 6:04 AM - Thank you for your comments. I too was surprised by turn the wine took since my last post. I've got one bottle left and will see if I got a bad bottle. I was surprised by all the positive posts.

Dense, alcoholic fruit bomb. Jammy raspberry and strawberry flavors, a dash of anise and black pepper. I could lay this on toast.

12/17/12, 10:23 AM - You read me right. I don't see this wine getting any better. It was throwing a lot of sediment. There's probably a 2-3 year drinking window.
