Very closed nose maybe some crushed flowers and red fruit - very muted. On taste nice round flavours although not really complex. More like a simple natural wine where its a little hollow in the mid-palate. Nice flavour on the front of the palate and an ok finish but disappears a bit. Ok for an occasional quaf and to say you tried this varietal but not something exceptional,

1998 Nicolas Potel Clos Vougeot Clos Vougeot Grand Cru Pinot Noir (view label images)
Really odd. This time around I cooled it a bit. On initial impression the nose seemed cooked or dank. It needed time to open up and this has become quite complex and intense. Damp cellar nose with cherry notes. It has become a medium intensity for a Burgundy. On taste perfectly round on the palate with bing cherry notes and a long finish. Great balance with acidity. Really exceptional. You just need to be careful on how you approach it.
White
So a very Savignin nose - white mountain flower, smoke, a bit funky like other Jura wines. On taste intense fruit on the palate with the acidity and salinity toward the middle and back of the palate in a line. Long finish - intense flavors. Very nice and complex wine - supremely enjoyable. Not for everyone because of the nose but for those adventurous enough you well be rewarded.
Red
Yup - same as my other note - really amazing bottle. I think 97 is a soft vintage and the wine is ready to drink. Tardy makes such a nice bottle of wine. Very nice nose and good balance.

So an ok nose with subtle hints of flowers and red fruit. Not overpowering. On taste disjointed. Seems a bit DOA. Acidity is there, fruit is there, alcohol is there, not tannins - resolved. Somehow it does not work together. As it opens up it seems to be a bit more cohesive but I would still say it is a disjointed wine at this point.

Well the nose was amazing with lots of complexity wafting from the glass. Sous-bois, raspberries, forest notes, hint of menthol. Very nice. On taste - wow we need 10 more years for the tannins to resolve. Good concentration of fruit and a long finish. The tannins though are still in force. Needs lots of time. I think I may be gone by the time these puppies are ready.

Interesting nose. Very Bordeaux like merlot or cab franc notes. Tobacco and graphite. On taste very concentrated but nuanced cherry flavors with a long succulent finish. Very nice. First time trying corvino and this instance it is quite complex and engaging. Very nice. Excellent balance on the palate with the acidity bringing out the fruit flavors.
Red
Similar to previous notes. This bottle was on point perfect balance with the acidity and fruit.

So I am always looking for a good Chard from outside Burgundy and usually disappointed. This is no different. Thought the marketing sounded nice but this has the nose and taste of a cheap Macon or Cali chard. Not over oaked but also not very interesting. A bit sharp on the finish which makes it a bit unpleasant. So always wondering if it is the wine-making or the place. Still don't know :)
Red
Starts out with a relatively muted nose. Needs some time to open up. On approach - layers of fruit on the nose - blackberry, blueberry, and spice. The blueberry note surprised me a bit - subtle hint though. On taste fruit notes reinforced with blackberry and dark fruit. The acid was well balanced but tasted a bit tart with the tannins still in strong force. A bit too early for this wine. Needs about 3-5 more years to show at its best. Long finish.
White - Sweet/Dessert
Very nice nose - honeyed and tart. A bit sweet at the start but the acid comes in and gives refreshing notes. Very longg finish. Very nice with fish appetezer. Really nice wine.

This needed a bit of time to unfold. Delicate notes of wild wood strawberries, red fruit and spice. Nice on the palate reflectingg the nose although a hint of tannins. Very nice finish. Really pretty and amazing fruit. Very nice.
Red
Really nice red and black berries on the nose with a hint of spice. Nice silky fruit flavours on the palate with a longg finish. Really nice wine in a great place. Really nice.
Red
Wow this is some serious juice! Nice spice notes on the nose with black fruit - black currant, blackberry, raspberry, etc... Perfect balance on taste with tannins still there but well integrated with the fruit notes. Very nice and round on the palate with the acid just highlighting the fruit. Length very long. Really outstanding and still feels very young.
Red
Similar to previous note although I did not need to re calibrate my taste.
Red
Beautiful spicy nose with dark red fruit - hints of incense and spice. Really nicely balanced with the fruit acid and tannins. Long finish. A delicious wine. This has really come together over the years.
White
A bit disappointing. Nose a bit sharp with white flower notes, Hint of spice. Also a hint of alcohol. On taste overly acidic with a bit of frizzante. A surprise for en Remilly. Perhaps it is the vintage but the wine seems unbalanced and overly shrill with the acidity. Not enough complexity when compared for this vineyard.
White
Very nice complex nose - a hint of matchstick though if that bothers you. White flower notes, mineral hints and slight matchstick. On taste - very nice balance. Complex flavours and a long mineral finish. Quite balanced. Very well put together wine.
White
Amazing nose - white flowers, menthol, spice, mineral/flint hints. On taste amazing balance with good fruit on the palate with underlying minerality and a long finish. I have had the red version from this vineyard and it is clear that chardonnay is best adapted to this land.
Red
Nice nose - primary fruit, some oak - perhaps a touch heavy handed. Taste intense with darker red fruits - blackberry, dark cherry and a bit of oak. Long sappy finish. Nice but still primary. Needs quite a bit of aging to come together.

So hints of Apricot, and hazelnut but unfortunately this one was a bit oxidized. Maybe storage issues. Drinkable but not quite on point.

So first the wine. On the nose nice light nuanced white flower notes with a hint of mineral and white fruits. On taste nice balance with light flavors. Very nice but slight acidic finish. A nice Pouilly-Fuisse. Now the value segment. I know at least three wines in the 20 dollar range which are just as interesting if not slightly better balanced. This is not a value wine although nice. If I were to spend this kind of money I would look for an aged version of the Jadot bottling of Ferret wines, Those are amazing versions of Pouilly-Fuisse which compare to more renowned white Burgundy.

So the nose starts out nicely. Very light in the glass - but expected. Unfortunately the flavours start out ok but end on a bitter note. I think the berries were too unripe and you get these flavors. Guessing that Alsace Pinot is on the margin of where it can grow and needs to have as much ripeness as possible to be at its best.
Red
Intense focused nose of sous-bois raspberries and blackberries. Some floral hints as the aromas unfold. On taste it is light and refreshing but intense layers of red berries. Perfect balance with the acidity. This is really a wonderful bottle. Great intensity while being light. Not sure how that works but buckets of flavours.
Red
Nice if light nose on this wine. A bit of Provence pine notes and forest berries. (it is from Provence after all) A bit light on the palate with a decent long finish reinforcing the pine/menthol notes. Not bad.
Red
So a very strong nose. Green Pepper, V8, and the usual veggie notes. Pretty intense on Taste tremendous intensity - very tannic and full of fruit as expected from a young wine. Excellent length. Very nice but extremely young and big wine. - and no Brett on this bottle.
Red
Similar to first note except more muted notes and tannins resolved. Quite enjoyable and ready to consume.
Red
Nose is nice - a little smokey, hint of tobacco, menthol, red berries. Flavours a bit muddled but nice fruit round on the palate. Ok finish.

So this wine started off nicely with a slight off note. Simple but clear on point pinpt cherry notes. Light on the palate but good intensity. There was a bit of hint of Brett however. It was there unfortunately and began to bother me after a while. A bit simple for the price point - I would rather explore Burgundy at this price point. Interesting to try a better Cali Pinot but not quite up to snuff.

2012 Château de Guilhemanson St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Very nice spicebox notes on the nose. Some damson graphite and cedar as well. Well nuanced. Nice and round on the palate with an ok length. Still some tannins but very enjoyable. Nice low alcohol style enjoyable wine.
Red
A quite nice Marsannay. Nice nose of red cherry and a bit of spice. Full flavors on the palate. Young with lots of baby fat and roundness. Nice finish as well. Needs some time to tame its voluptuous character.
Red
Eh yuck - wine experiment and a poor one, Brett as well as wine that tastes like it was fermented in a jar. Other natural wines can be good or great even . This one is an example that tastes like an experiment by high school students trying to make wine. Amazed by the poor example and wondering how much marketing has to do with this wine being sold. If you tasted it you would not buy.
Red
So at first I thought it was a bit muted and perhaps damaged. This was simply that I needed to re-calibrate my senses to this wine. I have been drinking more up front and fruit forward Burgundy. This is different. It is subtle. The nose has hints of wild forest strawberries with hints of Vosne spice wafting from the bowl of the glass. They subtely assert themselves as you get used to the delicate and light notes from the wine. On taste you think the taste a bit muted - but this is because of the fine tannins overwhelming the front of the palate. The body is light and the taste lasts a long time. It is subtle and sublime. A great wine that needs quite a bit of time for the fine tannins to resolve. It is just unfurling a bit of its charm.

Perfect example of why Cali Pinot sucks when compared to Burgundy. I had this on the same night as a simple Givry. This wine had oak notes on the nose - ok I will let it pass but on taste overworked and sweet. Too much sugar on this Pinot - sappy and unappetizing

2004 Domaine Ramonet Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay (view label images)
Amazingly complex but balanced nose on this wine. A wet slate and lemon/lime backbone with white flower and fruit hanging off it. Amazing seashell notes - makes me remember growing up. Very feminine notes. On taste amazing balance with the transparency there but the flavors gaining weight since the last time I had this. Amazingly long but delicate finish. Typical example of a great maker's wine.

A bit disappointing. The nose seemed a bit off. It got better over dinner, but still had a hint of apple cider. Premox or not it had a mineral note as well with some white flower notes trying to come through. On taste it was quite balanced, nice and round on the palate. Some stronger flavors here than expected but not too off. Really an odd bottle where I question whether premix was there. I never had a Phillippe Colin so I was not sure what to expect.

Amazing bottle - this is still so young. Complex, hints of Pommard and
Volnay. Elegant and complex nose of iron and spice. A bit acidic at first on taste but comes into its own after some time. Long finish.

So the other bottles must have had storage issues or were not quite up to snuff. This bottle was amazing. A great Vougeot. Perfumed nose of spice and fruit with medium intensity. On taste medium intensity with a bit of tart acidity but great flavor and intensity. Some tannin showing this can age a bit. Long, long finish. Really a nice Vougeot. Very disappointed that the other bottles had issues. If this is what they should have been what a waste . This is an amazing bottle of wine with full complexity and pedigree. Not quite mature but at the beginning of showing its colors.

So Givry is my new favorite Burgundy appellation. The nose on this wine is wonderful and complex. Perfumed notes of clove, sandalwood and dark cherry. On taste medium intensity with a nice tart note, Tannins give a bit of a bite which show the wine will age at least another 5-10 years. Nice long finish,

Concentrated young nose and still fruit forward. Raspberry blackberry on initial approach - a bit of sandalwood. Great concentration on taste with a huge and long finish. Really intense.

2004 Henri Boillot Corton-Charlemagne Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Chardonnay (view label images)
Pristine condition - could last another 10 years at least. Still young, tight and mineral nose. On taste bracing acidity with typical mineralogy and a long finish.

Unfortunately this showed some bottle storage issues. Not quite cooked or corked but it was off. Seemed the underlying materiel was there but flawed.

A bit feral this time around but it settled down and was an elegant expression of Rugiens

Wow - amazing wine. On opening an intense perfumed nose of dark berries, sous-bois, intense but delicate. On taste the tannins are burly but refined if that makes any sense. Nice light texture but with intense fruit in accordance with the nose. A long finish that goes on for minutes. The intensity reminds me of the Leroy Vosne from this vintage but this is more complex and refined. Amazing wine. Resolved tannins but still fruit forward so not sure how to view this 04. I think the vintage is supposed to be for short term drinking, but this can age a bit more.

Muted nose at firs. Slight perfume of blackberry, raspberry, and a bit of flower (violet?). Taste light loaded with flavor but light on its feet. Complex. A decent length as well.

Amazing perfumed nose with dark cherry, spice incense. Great flavor on tasting with cherry predominating and lasting and amazing amount of time. One of the best Burgundies I have ever had. Very young still with tremendous upside.
