Classic Foillard, and everything to love about Beaujolais. Deep and brooding but ethereal. Wonderful nose and deep, exciting palate of black cherry, wild strawberry, tilled chalky soil, violets, and forest floor. Deliciously savory with excellent wild red berry acidity and persistent, granite minerality. Superb! Drink or hold.

Quite aromatic as well as striking on the palate with golden apple, pineapple, hazelnut paste, lemon curd, and fresh hay. Medium to full bodied and focused initially, giving way to a longer, bright finish. Excellent, though the some of the excitement and youthful acidity this had on release has begun to mellow. Drink.

Wanted to get an idea of how Jouan's 2011's were doing. This is a wonderful young chambolle. A bit herbal as others have noted, but decidedly in the background for our tastes, functioning as a welcome complement to Jouan's typical wild, floral red berry fruit. Medium bodied and energetic with a lively, spice laden finish. Will check on another in a few years as this continued to improve with air. Hold.
