Have not tasted any Cullen wines in some time. This was delicious. I accept it was a bit young but lovely fruit. Definitely some 'vegetal' flavours but this enhanced the overall mouth feel. Tannins were very soft. balanced wine.

Fabulous wine. Burgundy moment. Dark fruits. Glorious bouquet with fantastic fruit on the palate finally. Loved this wine. Not normally a fan of Burgundy - too many disappointments in the past. Not this one. Opens up with aeration. Long life ahead.

Had a bottle of this yesterday. It should be past its 'drink by date' to be fair. I fact it was a lovely wine. Lovely soft fruit. It was a bit light on the palate as opposed to its youthful vigour but lovely none the less.I got lovely vanilla, tobacco leather. My daughter said blackberries. This is easily a 89 to 90 point wine. Very pleased it has lasted so well this long.

Just tasting a bottle of the 2001. It's like the Semillion grape content has taken over. It's a lovely wine. Matured really well. Waxy, lanolin. I would like some feedback on this. I love it but views may vary.

Evening all. I opened 3 bottles of this with some friends in anticipation of a two and a half week trip to South Africa. It was just a beautiful wine. Lovely sweet fruit. it has aged brilliantly. The best thing was I had forgotten I had it. Looking forward to drinking the rest of it. Just an additional comment! We visited the Ken Forrester winery while in Cape Town. Fantastic wines particularly the FMC which is made from old bush vines - Chenin Blanc. Fabulous.

This is a big shiraz wine. Old style. Hot on the edge, spicy. It has 15.5% officially but feels like more. it has a gorgeous colour. Deep red/purple and glistens in the glass. However it was lovely to drink with pheasant casserole and my wife and I drank the bottle between us. It is good value for money but if you are looking for a wine with delicacy and finesse this is not it.

Had this wine the other night. I was expecting it to be past its best. It is radically different to when it was a young wine but it has aged really well. No flaws. Lovely dark fruit, liquorice, soft tannins. I am really pleased and plan to drink this case of wine over the next 2 years. Well done Ridge. Its a testament to the ability of their wines to age even wines that are mainly Zinfandel.

So everyone we had two bottles of this wine tonight. Same case same storage and one was totally oxidised. Deep colour with sherry tones. However the second bottle was very good. From the fridge the nose was dead but once warmed a bit it was a bit of Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. I really liked it but the wife wanted a 2014 NZ Sauvignon Blanc. Women eh. However I think she was right. I have bottles of Cloudy Bay back to 1996. I know, crazy stupid boy, but plan to drink and update as and when.

Evening guys. Just had a bottle of the above. Tasted in conjunction with Chateau Talbot 1989 with some good friends. So I accept the circumstances were good. Having said that the Talbot had a lovely cedar wood old claret feel. The Penfolds was however just amazing. It was like a young pup. Massive 'Red Red 'fruit. We all loved it. It will last easily for 20 years. It has a perfect 'new world' taste. Very Penfolds to be honest.

We had this wine with the Turkey and ham on christmas day. For comparison we had a Chateau talbot 1989. I loved them both. The talbot I thought was better with the turkey but the family all preferred the Henschke as a wine to drink. It was a lovely wine. Vegetal smell - eucalyptus. Beautiful fruit great colour with a purple rim still. This wine will last for some time yet.

Evening gentlemen. I have had a seminal moment in my wine tasting career. Firstly apologies as this should read the 1990 vintage. This wine cost me £11.45 per bottle. I have one word to describe this wine, purchased 07/August/ 1996 and that is FRESH, FRESH, FRESH. The reason I say this is that I was tasting the Jasper Hill Cornelia Vineyard, Grenache 2004 before this wine and it was terrible. I suspect a bit of TCA involved but I just cannot believe how good a very basic French wine was, from, what I agree was a great vintage, can still taste this good. It wa sjust lovely easily 92 points and has lots of life left in it.
