For the money, one of the best you can get from Napa. Punches far above it's weight class. But no doubt you are drinking a Napa Cab when you have these. Excellent QPR

Unfortunately my last. Went through a case and half of this wine and they just were all equally good from start to finish!

This wine was a late bloomer to me. The first time I had it back in 2015 I was really disappointed (scored it 84). These are finally drinking well. Great wine for the price point.

Firing on all cylinders. No decant. Black and blue fruits. Some vanilla. Long finish. Dr Crane vineyard is one of my favs

Believe this could benefit from a little more time. Still tight.

Solid. No need to wait on these, they are ready to go in my opinion. PnP and this was great from first to last sip.

These are going in the wrong direction. Best way to describe my experience is that this was "green" tasting - not red or black fruit notes like I prefer. More tart, green, sour... I am usually a big fan of Becklyn - just not this one.

Nice cherry notes. But tongue gripping tannins on the back end. The tannins here need some time to (hopefully) integrate more.

Most of the 2016's from Napa that I have had have been ready to go out of the gate. But a few I have had, like this one, seem to be following a more normal progression in their development cycle. But this is one bottle that I would wait a few years before popping another one.

This wine is the real deal. Drank alongside a Carter To Kalon OG and this bottle out shined it by a long shot. Still think this wine could benefit from more time laying down. My best one word for this wine: Regal.

Took about 2 hours for this open. Fruit was a little muted which surprised me being this wine is only a little over 7 years old. Recommend drinking in next 3 years.

PnP. I was not paying as much attention as I should - thought I was opening a regular Myriad. But upon drinking I kept remarking to the wife how freankin' good this wine was. It was not until the bottle was finished that I realized it was actually a GIII. This wine is so good. Ripe but not syrupy. Big but balanced. Just a WOW kind of wine!

Outstanding! Translucent brownish cranberry in color - but not old by any means. In a great drinking window and probably for next 5 years. Got strawberry, cherry, cinnamon with the acidity and tannins in perfect balance. Lithe and graceful on the tongue. And wonderful finish that presents nuances including a little smoke. I wish more California Pinots were made in this style. Wonderful wine!

Double decanted and took to restaurant. Cork only lightly stained on the bottom (Mike Smith wines 5 years old usually have darker bottom of the cork). Filtered the wine before returning to the bottle and there was absolutely no sediment whatsoever (also unusual). The wine was not as much big as it was smooth and nuanced with sophistication. Great wine. But I do not think this is for the long haul. If I had any more I would drink in next couple of years - no rush, but do not think will get much better.

Christmas Eve - WOTN. Just a knockout. So nuanced. While still being so big. Great balance. Long finish. Can't think of enough accolades to describe how good this was...

I have to rate this wine for what it is. You would not rate a Bordeaux low for not tasting like a Napa Cab. And Caymus is in it's own class for what it is trying to be. Over the top, hedonistic, syrupy, chocolate flavored goodness in a glass. I can't help it - I enjoy this wine every so often. But, for the same reason I cannot drink a MollyDooker Shiraz all the time, is the same relationship I have with this wine. It is great when you are in the mood, but know what you are getting yourself into. One thing is undeniable, Caymus is always consistent. So rating this for what it is. Always a crowd-pleaser.

Christmas Eve. Opening up some good ones tonight. This one included. Drank alongside a 2016 Becklyn regular cab that gave this one a run for it's money. But this just was a touch classier, smoother, and more nuanced in the end. a Great showing from both Becklyn cabs tonight.

I have been going through these bottles way too fast. But I love this 2016. Drank alongside a 2015 Becklyn BS M-Hopper and this was preferred by half the crowd. That is a strong showing for the regular cab.

Drank alongside a Sherwin 2007 which was far better. This is still nice. Just not as big or as dark or as bold.

Outstanding. And sadly my last. Drank alongside a Sherwin 2012 and it was not even close in terms of everyone's preference. I would drink these in next couple of years if you have any left as I don't believe there is any benefit to holding longer - no rush, just that they are ready to go. No seepage on the cork - perfect provenance.

Picked these up on the secondary market and they are outstanding. Aaron Pott and Stag's Leap - what a great combo. Deep dark fruits, thick but not cloying. Balanced with medium long finish.

From Magnum. 2 hours of air. Took to restaurant. Went so well with with the Filet's / Strip we had. I was fortunate to get a lot of this vintage. But I cant keep my hands off of them. So dark. Thick viscosity. Fabulous wine.

Long live the queen! The nose on this was amaze-balls. Big and fruit forward. But not sappy. Nice balance. Medium long finish. Aaron knocked it out of the park with this one. We killed the bottle way too fast

Had the very same wine one night earlier and scored it 2 pts higher. Got an offer today to buy more so wanted to revisit. And although it was good. It was not AS good ad the evening before. Gave same amount of air. Not sure if I if it could be bottle variation? My taste buds variation? Interesting to me how you can have different experiences with the same wine at different times (even one day apart).

My first bottle of the '17. I was really impressed. Gave this about 2 hours of air. Great floral notes on the nose. Big black fruit profile on the tongue. Nice balance and medium/long finish.

Deep, dark and inky in the glass. Black and dark red fruit flavors, licorice, mineral and spice. Concentrated with thick mouthfeel yet sophisticated and nuanced at the same time. An excellent bottle of wine that for my tastes at the 7-year mark is in it's drinking window (I don't like them too mellow)

Blackberry liqueur with some blue undertones, some plum, licorice...just a lot going on here. Big wine, long finish. By hour 3 this was really singing...and then it was gone (damnit!). Really enjoyed this wine.

PnP and was fantastic. I dont think these are going to get better - who knows... But I am also scoring this a 94 for the second time - so the question is - better than what? :-) Why wait? Still plenty of time. But I am also finding that most wines from the Napa '16 vintage are ready for drinking earlier than normal too. So, will they hold up or get better? For my tastes, these are drinking great now. I have made the mistake of holding some wines thinking they would improve only to be disappointed later. So I am not waiting on these!

A year since my last visit. It has improved a little and lost the green notes I got last year. A very feminine wine. Very nice balance. But I prefer a little more fruit upfront and a bigger finish on the back end. I do not think these are for the long haul.

From Magnum. Bought upon release. Cork in perfect condition - no seepage and jet black on bottom. Lot's of fine sediment - clogged filter 5 times while decanting. Immediately put back into bottle as it did not need air, this was ready to go upon PnP. Black in the glass. I had always heard that the MV offering needed more time in the bottle. And this being a magnum I would have thought it would have plenty of time left. But this has faded. A very feminie wine for sure at this point. Fruit a little muted - but the tannins are in line and have faded as well. A nice Bordeaux-like presentation. Paired well with Filet and Lobster. I just prefer them a little bigger. Medium finish.

One of the better $25 bottles of wine I have had in a few years. Not overly complex. But a very nice cabernet.

This bottle was flawed. It blew off a little over time - enough so that my wife forced it down only because she knew it was a Pott (and loves his wine). But this was not enjoyable to me at all and I had to open something else.

My favorite Pinot from Napa area. Light and crisp. Cranberry and cherry on this vintage. Did not get the strawberry I normally get from School House. Still a delight to drink.

I am a huge fan of Kongsgaard. First wine I have had of theirs that did not impress me. Astringent. Muted fruit flavors. It had a big backbone, but nothing up front. Even after a lot of air we could not coax this wine to come out an play. An off bottle? I have one more of the '13's left. Will wait a few years to see if that makes a difference.

10 months since my last bottle and a little time laying down has treated this wine well. Upping a point.
