Oh, this is drinking on point. Fruit is now tamed down and some meatiness and olive emerging. Drank from magnum.

A scintillating CC of awesome dimension with steely minerality. Best CC I’d during this pandemic.

Still has years of development in store. Black fruit predominates with toasty and refined oak. Better on second day.

This is a great showing. Complex, savoury with still sweet fruit in the back end. Lots of sediments.

As wonderful as this Sangiovese is, I can’t say it has improved a whole lot. In light of the price hike, not sure where the QPR lies. Their Chianti drinks just as well although their prices have been going up too. Drink up.

Love it. Even better than the 11. Just the right side of oxidative notes with superior complexity. Alas, the price has been going up as of late. A wonderful food wine. Had it with uni, scallops and foie.

A wonderful granbussia cut from same cloth as the 01 granbussia tonight. Started out lacking in focus compared to the 01 but caught up at the end of the evening. Overall, missing a bit of the intensity and concentration of the 01.

Wow, it has really taken on extra dimension compared to last time I tasted it in 2013. Concentrated and jam packed while remaining light on its feet with kaleidoscopic flavour. Bright acidity added additional intrigue. Bravo!

My last bottle and just as well as it’s teetering over the hill. At least that’s how it was on day 1. Served it at cellar temperature and with Conterno sensory stemware on day 2. Can’t believe the difference that made. Still very much alive and reminiscent of the rich fruit of yesteryears except more cultured now. Drink now.

Thought for sure this would be disappointing given the hot vintage that’s now closed to 2 decades old. Well, I dare say this is even better than quite a few of its more lauded sibling vintages. Just wonderful right now. Not over the top and just on the right side of ripeness. It’s curious that I found the 98,05,07 and 10 to be underwhelming but this inconsequential vintage way over delivers today. The 2001 though is the one to beat right now. 07 was great in 2015 and has shut down somewhat lately.

Not holding up quite as well on day2. Drink up.

This is one hedonistic Pinot with craison, Cherry, bergamot and earthy wholesomeness. A decidedly Oregon meets NZ presentation. Wonderful as is but some may rightly quibble with its lack of terroir identity. I’ll argue that it should be enjoyed as it is with its unadorned blazoned fruit intensity.
