An interesting bottle, have had this for 5 years now (one a year) and while this bottle is good, it seems a bit closed down. 2 hour decant and drank over 2 hours, nice but not overly complex. Very different from last year. Perhaps it would have been better after further decanting? Cherry, tar and anise wrapped around tobacco and dark plum. Very interesting, perhaps a long decant would be helpful. Looking forward to next year's bottle. *** I saved a large glass for, what was supposed to be, a day or maybe two. A week later, I finally drank the remaining glass. All I can say is phenomenal. Complex, powerful but not overpowering. Truly a special experience - a slow ox for 12 hours is probably ideal but, it is hard to tell. This will have a long life. 90 on day 1, 94 on day 7 - truly shocking.

This wine continues to evolve and become more integrated but has a long way to go before it is at its peak. I would decant for a minimum of 3 hours at this point, was far more expressive on day 2.

Another great bottle, this wine has further evolved. Dense black cherry and tar roll into tobacco notes that are backed up by thick, syrupy cassis. Tannins are well integrated but lots of room to improve. 2 hour decant was nice but certainly could have gone further. I love the way this wine is developing!

Pulled this out of the cellar on a whim, definitely normally wouldn’t drink something like this so young. I tasted a splash when I opened the bottle and decanted half the bottle for 2.5 hours. The first splash was vibrant and fruit forward, well balanced and truly a head turner. Coiled dark fruit led into a lengthy finish; I was simply shocked by how fresh and inviting this was right out of the bottle. After the decant the wine was tighter and a bit more disjointed. The heady fruit gave way to tannins and the wine beckoned for food to be paired with. This wine is fantastic with food, the fruit is a bit secretive once decanted but with ribeye, this is stunning. I will be drinking the second half of the bottle tomorrow so will update then.

This wine has evolved nicely. A bit of anise, along with the typical Cab characteristics. Should certainly continue to age well, no rush here. Decanted for 1.5 hours, it could use more, for sure. Serve at cellar temp, of possible. This was served more towards room temp and it detracted from the over all enjoyment. Looking forward to opening my next bottle.

Day 1 - Tight as a drum. Decanted for 3 hours and it could use more. Tannins are fairly oppressive at this point and the wine is disjointed overall. Not a lot of fruit, just notes of cherry, mostly tar, tobacco and tannin.

Day 2 - Vin o vac'd and stored in the fridge overnight, much nicer tonight, still tight and not overly expressive but more fruit and showing promise.

At this point, I will hold for another year before trying this again but I would guess it needs 2 years at least. The wine shows promise but it is hard to tell if it will be austere or, if the fruit will show through at some point. If you feel the need to open now, drink with food, not a good solo wine at the moment.

I opened this on short notice so I didn't have much time to decant, 30 minutes in a decanter poured through a screened funnel. The wine was green (peppers, a little plum, but very unripe) and disjointed - an 87 at best. I poured the wine back into the bottle, used a vacu vin closure and stored it in the fridge overnight. The next day I decanted for a additional hour and it was outstanding; a completely different wine. If you want to drink this now, give it two hours of air, at least, more won't hurt it. I am going to give my final bottle a few more years to mature.

As young as this wine is, with proper decanting, it may be consumed now. A 2 hour decant offered up a plum, cherry and blackberry richness that, while tannic, was well balanced. On night two, this wine seemed a bit tighter (the bottle was Vin o Vac'd and stored in the fridge overnight). After another 30 minutes in the decanter, it opened up a bit more and tar/asphalt and tobacco notes showed through. We drank the second half of the bottle with NY strip and lobster mac and cheese. The Gruyere, in the lobster mac, was an excellent backdrop for the wine and the strip steak coaxed out the lengthy finish. I hope this wine develops as I think it will; at this price point, it will be a QPR all star.

Outstanding balance and, while perhaps a touch past its prime, this is tough to beat. We had this with pasta with vegetables and sausage - outstanding pairing. I would drink with food.

30 minute decant in bottle and we were off to the races. Nice balance with the acid in the forefront. Great with fresh pasta, butter, black pepper and Parmesan/Romano cheese. I was afraid the wine would overwhelm the food but the black pepper punched through the acid, cherry, blackberry, tobacco and the freshly laid asphalt notes. An hour after dinner the acid dropped out of the wine and I found only flabby fruit; definitely an odd turn of events. My suggestion - this wine is built for the sprint, not the Preakness - drink aggressively.

Blueberry, cassis, blackberry and a touch of beach plum mid palate. I really love this wine. For this price it is tough to beat. I thought we might be on the downside now but it is drinking very well and should for a bit longer. Good alone but better with food, it danced with the garlic in my sautéed vegetables and wasn't nudged into the background by an acidic tomato sauce. Wish I had more than 1 left.

Another outstanding Ojai Pinot Noir and it is drinking perfectly. Enough acid to provide backbone without compromising the fruit. Cranberry, dark cherry, spice and just a slight floral note.

Popped and poured, much better than the last one thankfully. Must have been a bad bottle. Plenty of fruit and enough backbone to carry this wine but I would not decant as the acid dropped out pretty quickly once open. Drink up soon!

Prior bottle that I had about 6 months ago was great, plenty of backbone and fruit, this bottle was lacking any backbone and it was super jammy in an unbalanced way. Not sure if it was something with this one bottle or if it is past its prime but I am going to drink my two remaining bottles sooner rather than later.

Typical Washington Cab. not for the California Cab. drinker. Lots of fruit (raspberries, black raspberries and red fruits) in general, low tannins/acid. Good wine for the price, but don't wait, enjoy now.

Nice wine, nothing special. Firm tannins but the fruit is a little thin. Overall very nice to drink but by no means a power house and lacks complexity. Nice to drink with food, a little one dimensional to drink by itself.

Really outstanding but time to drink up. I opened and poured through an aerator and after another 10 minutes in the glass the wine really opened up. Beautiful plum and blackberry notes with just enough back bone to make this an outstanding bottle. We had it with skirt steak and the wine absolutely shined but I will drink my two remaining bottles in the next six months or so because I don't see this getting any better and it will start to slide soon.

Nice wine that deserves to be consumed with a steak or some rich food. After decanted for an hour or so it really started to open up. Blackberry, plum, tobacco and tar. Sturdy tannins in place so it can age a bit longer too but it is ready to drink.

A great bottle of wine that should improve with age. Already well integrated and extremely well balanced with dark berry, smoke and pleasing earthiness that all end in a long hearty finish. I can't wait to see what this becomes but it is certainly ready to drink now too. I am glad I have 3 more but would be happier if I had another dozen.

Unbalanced and weird on the first day but I did not decant for long. I had one glass and let it sit for a day. Day two was outstanding, a totally different wine. I probably won't open another one for another year or so but if I do I will certainly open a bottle and let it sit for a day before drinking. I would give the wine an 85 on day one and a 90 plus on day two.

A phenomenal value. This wine was well balanced and continued to evolve throughout the night. Dark fruit and berries dominated. Decanted for 20 minutes and it probably would have been better to wait an hour but it really opened up nicely as the night progressed. I wish I had more than 6 bottles, drink now or hold for a few years.

Solid wine but nothing mind blowing. Nose is fairly muted. Decanted for 30 minutes after decanting. Strawberry and raspberry with slight herbal notes. No reason to hold this as I don't think it will get any better but a very nice wine now and probably for the next couple of years.

Ran through a Rabbit Aerator and decanted and the wine really came to life. Strawberry, light red fruits and enough tannin to keep this wine from being flabby. Not as fruit forward as prior bottles. I think this has evolved a bit and while I don't see much of an opportunity for this wine to improve a lot you can certainly hold it for a year or two if you want to.

Plum and violet notes on the nose. Decanted for about an hour and I think it could have used a touch more. Much more aggressive wine when tasted than on the nose. Currants, tobacco and touch of tar which surprised me a bit. Not as well integrated as I might like and a touch hot but a great wine now. I would guess in 6 month to a year we will see improvement. Had the last glass the night after opening and it was improved. The rough edges were gone and it seemed to be much more supple. More raspberry and cherry notes. I would suggest decanting for 2 or 3 hours prior to drinking at this point.

Really enjoyed this but seemed a bit flatter than last time. Dark fruit and berry notes along with chocolate predominate on the first taste but blue fruits really come through as it evolves. I decanted for about an hour and then drank a third of the bottle over about 3 hours and while it opened up significantly from the time I opened it to the time I started drinking it it really did not do much from then on. I am saving a glass for tomorrow so if I have any additional notes I will update this. I would say it is time to drink this now or perhaps wait a year but I enjoyed the first bottle I had more (about 6 months ago) so I don't know that this will improve much.

See prior notes for this wine, it is outstanding for the price. My only new notes on this would be that the cab really started to show through a bit more towards the end of the bottle (maybe 2 hours in). After the last bottle I said I would wait 6 months before I opened another one but I could not do it. Instead I am buying two more cases before it is all gone. Well worth stocking up on and cheap enough to be a daily drinker.

A bit better than the last one, no Pez notes this time. Seemed a bit deeper and more mature but I am surprised it would mature much in that short of time. Perhaps a little bottle variation but certainly a positive one. This bottle seemed a bit more integrated. Either way this is a bargain at this price; drink up.

Very similar notes to the last bottle. A bit more Cab. in this one and still offering Foxy characteristics. Again, for $10 it is hard to beat. Has enough depth to stand up to lighter red meats (duck, beef tenderloin) and enough finesse to drink by itself. This would be ideal to start a cocktail party with if serving a variety of cheeses as it won't blow your palate out if you want to move to bigger wines with dinner. Overall very enjoyable.

Decanted for about 30 minutes. Tar, current and blackberry with a touch of bitter orange (slightly astringent, similar to Campari) on the nose. The wine has opened up nicely and really is drinking well. Nice tannins and some fruit showing through. Mostly dark fruits, current, blueberry, blackberry but not jammy at all. A touch of tar and leather too. Really well balanced and aching for a lighter steak or some duck. This would take a backseat to a rib-eye or venison but would still be nice with both. One of the best values I have ever had frankly. Glad I have a case. Drinking well now but I will try to wait 6 month before I open another; this could do well to lay down for a while.

Nice wine overall. Strawberry and red fruits. Should be run through a filter/screen if you have one as it has tons of sediment. A bit jammy for me but that is personal preference. A nice, lighter drinking pinot that is not over oaked and will drink well with lighter meals. I don't see it evolving much so I would plan to drink it in the next year or two.

Consistent with my prior notes on this. I would recommended opening this and drinking right away as there is zero acid left. I drank it over the course of an evening and used a VacuVin on the bottle in between glasses to keep it as oxygen free as possible throughout the bottle. At this point this tastes like a jar of Welch's grape jelly due to the lack of acid. Still very nice with food I would drink up ASAP. This was great bottle of wine but I waited too long on this one.
