What a delight. It took some decanting before some of the funk blew off, but once it did, this beauty sang. It really is such an old world wine. Great fruit. Paired perfectly with steaks at Ruth's Chris. My friend Jim and I devoured it. It was worth the long wait. A gem.

I would rate the nose as 99+. On the palate, this is a New World wine, with big flavors and lots of depth. I actually think it needs about 3 more years to come into its prime. It was wonderful to sniff and smell, and pretty damn good on the tongue, but will improve in a few years. Still, I cannot complaint. It was pretty damn awesome!!

Wow. This was great. It is ready to drink now. Great fruit. A sweet brown-sugar, fruit-forward profile. Yummy stuff. A real treat at a neighborhood birthday party on an average Tuesday night.

We took this to some friends house on August 28th for dinner. Wow. It was a nearly perfect example of a California Cab. The fruit was perfect. It was right in its sweet spot in terms of development. It was memorable. Really, memorable. One of the best wines I've had in 2015.

This was excellent. Extremely well made wine. I loved the toffee notes. This is aging incredibly well.

This took a lot of time to open up. At 1st, it had that aged quality -- like a bota bag. After several hours, it was smooth and nice and a real treat. Balanced, and yet sweet and yummy. I love old wines.

This was the Wine of the Night. Perfect display of California Cab. grapes. Integrated. Young, yet aged. Timeless. I taste the fruit. That is enough.

A young, selective, and sneaky friend. This is well made with great fruit, and years to go before we sleep. Nice. Like a Ryan Adams song.

This is a sneaky wine. It finds you in the quietest moments with strawberries, bananas, and citrus oils. It has a botyris element, some pineapple, mango, and coconut elements. Bottom line -- the strawberries linger in a ginger carmel creme brule messy goo. Yummy stuff.

I took this to the wake of an old friend who committed suicide. It was a pot-luck, BYOB, at her sister's house. Many people brought great wines to celebrate her life. This wine was in good company, and held its own.

Cooked. Bummer for me. Not sure how it happened. Unsure of the source. I had a great bottle in 2007. Was hoping to repeat the same to celebrate a great day for wonderful friend. Sometimes the wine is cooked. I have one bottle left. Hopefully, it will be like the bottle I had in 2007. No rating given the cooked state of this bottle.

I had the last bottle in 2015, and alas, it was cooked as well. WTF?

I enjoyed this late night at Finca with tapas and good friends. This is a wonderful wine. Took a minute to open up, but once it did, what a treat. Fruit forward, with great complexity, and yet light on its feet with a long finish. Paired extremely well with the tapas. Much better than the bottle I had a few years back. Memorable.

This has a great floral nose and floral fruit profile. Old world Burgundy in style. Very delicious. A little spice. Not completely integrated. Probably could have used a few more years in time. Enjoyed with home-BBQ'd burgers and brats. Wonderful juice.

This was better during the tasting at the winery. Tonight, before the food, it had a slight edge to it -- it really only opened up with the food. I highly recommend pairing with food. Otherwise, it is a bit astringent. Not bad, but not great tonight.

Upon opening, there was very little in the way of a nose, so I was a bit worried. I need not have worried. ON the palate, this is delicious. It has settled down from the last bottle I had more than a year ago, and is now perfectly integrated, smooth, seamless, fruit filed, and silky delicious. The wine is a tour de force in black fruits, vanilla, with a hint of graphite. This was an extraordinary wine, especially for a second label. There are many first label wines that are not this good. What a treat.

The first thing I noticed was the nose: wow!! Big, rich, fruit-filled nose that you could literally smell across the room. The second thing I noticed was that the wine is open for business now, and not closed down. It had a great fruit profile dominating the typical underlying bordeaux notes. This was delicious, and very enjoyable. Flavors included hibiscus flowers, baking spice, red fruits (almost a raspberry profile), and very bright acidity. The wine was slightly more acidic than other bordeaux wines that I've had. The wine did have just a very subtle bricking at the edges, but is still fresh and vibrant. I am not sure this will be a long-lived Mouton, so I recommended starting to drink now and for the next 3 to 4 years. The rating is based mostly on the wonderful nose. The palate was less impressive than the nose, but then, I love to smell good smelling wine.
