Concur with DND that these could use some bottle time, but disagree about their drinkability at this stage. Still showing young, but nice red and black fruit with ample oak and tannins. I would not describe this wine as “subtle,” but it’s quite good, especially for the price.

As good as 2020 was bad.

Plum with jalepeno on the nose, and similar flavors. Finish is slightly jammy and slightly spicy. Well rounded. Went well with chicken tortilla soup.

Wonderful Jose, with baking spices, plum, blackberry, and barrel toast. Similar flavors. Big and great.
White
Nice and crisp with lemon, apple, and saline aspects. Medium finish. Would be good friendly but also good on its own.

Very good all around wine. Sorry no detailed notes, but good combo of fruit and savory flavors and easy to drink.

Paired with street tacos, and it was a win. Smooth dark cherry backed with bubbles and acidity. Stood up to a bit of spicy salsa.

I want to like this wine more than I do. It’s got all the savory notes you’d ever want in a WA Rhône blend, it’s got some dark red and black fruit, but in the end I agree with PortlandSeth that it lacks some tannins or acid or something to tie it all together. Altogether a solid effort, just lacking a little something to push it from good to excellent.

Great with a beeef filet roast. Lots of oak influence.

Remarkable staying power. Reviewed my prior notes, and this bottle is very consistent three years on. Perhaps a touch less fruit and some more pronounced earth as well as a bit of leather, but still quite lively. Good balance of fruit and other flavors. Again, drink or hold.

Typical Kontos profile: full bodied, fruit forward, built in a drink now or drink later style. Some good varietal character, although I would have liked to have seen it a bit more in the fore. All in all, a good first effort with this grape.

From a magnum. Much better than anticipated. Nice balance of dark plum, cassis, saddle leather, and mild tannins. Good length. Drink now.

Probably too young to truly take the measure of this wine. Good fruit characteristics, but a little roughy around the edges. Recommend giving it another year in the bottle before trying again.

Needs a decent amount of oxygen before it really starts to sing. Layered with black fruit, tovacco, and cedar. Some oak influence is present as well. Medium tannins, medium body, long finish.

Similar to prior notes, but with another year of bottle age and some air there is a nice undertone of baking spicyness. Probably edging over from drink/hold to drink, though there is still plenty of life left.

Had a bit on the cold side, which may have impaired the aromatics a bit. Bright red fruit dominates with some Rocks funk underneath. Incredibly smooth with silky tannins. 89 the way I tasted it, but probably closer to 92 at the proper temp.

Definitely evolved quite a bit over the past two and a half or so years. Still some cherry and cherry cola, but now there’s a lot of mushroom, Forest floor, and umami. Light bodied, medium finish. Really quite nice, even though I typically prefer Athena.

Plum and cassis. Ample acidity on the finish. Still has quite a bit of life left. Tasted alongside a 06-10 vertical of Pepper Bridge 7H Blend, and this wine was noticeably different in style, a bit more of a bruiser than the PB wines.

A great wine that has aged beautifully. It was a mistake to pair it with BBQ chicken and sweet potato, but on its own it was a wonderfully balanced expression of dark fruit, acid, garrigue, and hints of vanilla. Wish I had more…
