A bit lighter and less complex than the 2013. Opened up nicely in the glass, but could probably use a bit more aging.

A gift from a friend who does not love zin. Served with our Christmas dinner which is a reprise of Thanksgiving.

This wine was rich and fool bodied with incredible balance. Lots of very dark fruit, modest tannins, depth and complexity. Layers of flavor and a true complement to the meal.

This wine has aged incredibly well. Chocolate and coffee on the nose, silky smooth tannins, lots of bright red fruit and a long, luxurious finish.

12/9/20, 3:46 PM - I opened the bottle about an hour before dinner, which was served with take out italian. I’ve been a big fan of Upchurch. It was like liquid velvet

My wife asked for a fruit bomb to go with a grilled flat iron steak and sweet Jersey white corn. Although this was a young wine, it fit the bill.

While we are devastated that shafer discontinued our favorite merlot, this wine is powerful, overflowing with ripe red fruit - cherry, plum, strawberry and a lot of flavor. Long lucious finish and the wine just completely complemented the steak. Wish I’d bought more...

Rich with red and black fruit, leather and a typical Syrah pepper on the back. Soft tannins and a mouthwatering feel.

I am broken hearted and overjoyed upon the downing of my last bottle of this lucious Shiraz. I served a spicy lamb(Australian lamb of course) and the earthy textured and voluptuous fruit complemented the spiciest of the hot paprika.

Awesome. Herbaceous and green on the nose with a hint of strawberry. Light and crisp with a short to medium finish. Light red fruit. Went well with grilled chicken and balsamic grilled veggies.

This wine will be great - In 5 years. Tannic and austere, very little fruit, a little heat from the alcohol. Went well with milk chocolate but needs more aging I can’t wait to open the next one in 2022
  • EvanRose commented:

10/9/17, 6:30 PM - The wine needs more age. Or I needed to decant for a couple hours. The sweetness of the chocolate compensated for dryness of the wine. Thanks for the feedback
