Very floral and alluring on the nice. The pallet is elegant and highly pleasurable already. Great balance with cool blue and red fruits, subtle and delicate minerals and spices. Very polished. With aeration the wines gains more complexity and body. I really like this wine young for its fruit. Tasty. Very well made and highly pleasurable. Noble Bordeaux characteristics are apparent. Theire is substance for this wine to develop. I suspect short to mid term drinking will be fun all the way. Drink or hold.

I should not have done it. I said to myself, leave my last bottle alone! Well, the wine is in a transformational stage. The fruit has developed to deep dark with plenty of secondary flavors. The extraction/oak/tannins are poking a bit much right now and the wine simply needs to age to see what becomes of it next. I suspect it's only going to get better. I would hold another 3-5 years at least. Ambitious wine that has a track record for aging despite its modest appellation and price point. Hold.

A classic Geyserville right from the start and a step above the 2020. The wine has dazzling red fruits and berries. The hallmark indigenous yeast that is often apparent in thier wines. The tannins and oak structure counter nicely with the spicy fruit. After about an hour they start to merge and provide much delpth and a great finish. While one can get away drinking this with decant. I would hold for 3-5 years and I bet at 5-7 this will wine should be singing. It's already a beauty, but let it soften a bit with a few years in the cellar 93-95.

Sexy and suave, this velvety wine has exciting red fruits with impeccably balanced tannins and structure. This estate has been more flamboyant, and there is no hiding that, except now they have really honed in on their craft/style. We are the modern St Julien and no apologies. Though this is so well made and showing class, pleasure, and much promise. Precision is what comes to mind here. It's all there in the bottle. Accessible now, I suspect this wine will develop and drink very well all the way through for 30+ or more years. Wow! A big find at Costco for $64. If you see it there, do not hesitate to buy a case at that crazy, low price. Something for the modern day drinker and yet fun and admirable even for the purists. 97+

Floral with that Margaux perfume nose jumping from the glass. Dark and deep in color, palate is silky and fine. There is underlining structure here, but for now, the oak has taken a back seat, waiting to reemerge. Decent length and mid palate, but finesse driven. This wine will indeed age well. While open knit currently, I suspect it may start to shut down for its life ahead. A worthy addition to your cellar. I did notice a few corks seemed to vary in regard to fit and some dusty traits. Beware of it. Otherwise a real beauty. 95+

Beautiful floral nose, great red fruit mingle with polished tannins with some St Estephe character. Pretty wine, that has some nobility and medium weight. Probably one of the best Pagodes out there. This is treat to taste now, but a serious effort to age for the mid term+ as well. Has a fair amount of the grand vin's charm and personality. I like this wine! 13.5% Cos post 2013 has dialed it down and become more refined while still being sexy and distinctive. You get to caress the tiger while having an alley cat on your lap with this one. Recommended! 94+

Blue fruits, lots of intriguing blue fruits, classic pencil lead and graphite from the appellation. Very elegant and poised. A beautiful code if you can tap into it. This wine has fine balance and plenty of substance to age, yet, i am digging the finesse and tasty fruit even today. Not a blockbuster, nor trying to be, but a classic winner here.

Tobacco and spice, some dark fruit wanting to peak through, but the heavy oak leads the way. Bitter chocolate and charred stewed fruits. While the oak is not rough, it dominates way too much. Drying tannins in the end as well. I can see some people thinking this might be good, but it's lopsided and over oaked. I do not think it will come around to balance at all. Looks like it was dumped at Costco for about half off in price for a reason, at least this 2020 vintage.

Typically light in color but still very vibrant. Nose is floral, though some spicy cedar notes emerge both in the smell and taste. Poured into a decanter. First hour was somewhat reserved. Hour 2, now we're talking! This wine become integrated and expressive with tons of depth and complexity, yet subtle and classy. A lot of concentrated fruits showing insane complexity. Powerful yet pure finesse This is marvelous. One of my favorite and best showing 2013s along with Bertheau's most excellent Bonnes Mares. If you can find this wine, grab it! A relative value considering other domaines. This exquisite Les Amoureuses can be enjoyed now with some aeration, or will probably be even better in a couple of years.

Dazzling vibrant color with an inky core countered by a magenta rim. Very fragrant nose with plenty of spices and bright red fruits. Concentrated yet elegant with fine structure and plenty of mineral character. Great purity on this 2019. Normally this estate offers plump black fruit and full bodied offerings, but there is something more refined and sophisticated going on with this 2019. More acidity and freshness. This wine is serious enough to age 15-20 years, yet after 30 minutes of aeration is highly drinkable. It also puts on some weight after 45 minutes and really integrates nicely. While young, this is darn tasty and I suspect this wine will be even better within a couple of years in the cellar. The kind of wine where you want a case to drink young and another case to track and follow over the next decade. This wine will fatten up with a little bottle age. Already expressive. A very regal D'Aiguilhe. Now bottled with a long Diam cork, embossed glass and with anti-counterfeit tags.
A fine value and quite lovely.

Coming from a magnum, prisitine shape. Color has some age to it with a burnt umber rim constasted by a deep and dark core. Fresh fragrant nose. Smells very much like Pichon Lalande, with various fruits and cool menthol.

On the palate more of the same. Still fresh and vibrant. This wine in 2003 has always been soft and sexy, yet one of the more lively wines of the very warm vintage. This wine is prime now. Pretty direct, but has some subtle and delcate naunces.

While this claret will hold for years to come, it's in a nice stage right now to drink up, Poured in a decanter and really developed its first hour, however it did not go anywhere after hour 2-3+ and was rather at its best within the first 2 hours out of the bottle.
A nice uber prime wine to open now.

A great testament and release from this label during a hot vintage.

Deep inky color with a dark rim. Nose a bit more developed than my last bottle 2 years ago. Good weight with plenty of structure and body. Black and blue fruits. Some chalk towards the back end. This wine is a tad more shut than last time and would benefit with another 1-2+ years in the cellar. I wish I tucked away more bottles, but it was darn tasty upon release. I would hold for another 1-3 years to ingrate and gain more secondary flavors. Great value from Nicolas Thienpont. 91-92

Deep in color, with spicy ripe black cherries on the nose and palate. A little tight at first. After 15 minutes this wine starts to unfurl and reveal its layers over the next hour. Very Pauillac in character. There are some fine tannins that countered nicely by the red fruits. Textbook Pauillac graphite/pencil comes through in spades. Good structure and length. More appealing fruits arrive with aeration. For a second wine this is fairly complete. Not hollow nor too light as often the case with others. A nice value as Pauillac is hard to find even remotely near this price point. 2018 was benchmark vintage for this Chateau and it shows with this wine as well. I recommend giving it at least an hour of air if consuming today. This wine will drink well now and develop further over the next several years.

A lot of structure with tannins that subside after about hour and continue to open on hour two. A sexy wine that is very Bordeaux in character yet little modern and exciting. Well crafted juice, this wine will cruise in the cellar. If consuming anytime soon, decant for 1-2 hours or better yet cellar for another 3-5 years. This will develop age well over the next 15-20+ years.

Surprisingly fresh with good forest berry fruit. Tannins and acidity very present. I gave this some air and become a tad more fresh even. Was not sure where this was going. But it's keeping well. I wonder if this would have been better a few years ago? Its going drink well for another several years, but perhaps time to pop it?

Truly remarkable at this very early stage. It will be interesting to experience once bottled to see how much oak will impart as in past vintages. Vibrant red rim with a deep and dark core. Very fragrant and floral. Very Margaux like. The 2015 vintage was top notch for this area and it shows here. A lot of pure red fruits on the palate. Bing cherries to start that develop toward black cherries and spices with aeration. Some seashells and more fruit bursts through past the mid palate and then some minerality kicks through with a focused and long finish. Very regal. This has plenty of substance, yet it has much elegance. Very classic, yet generous and silky. The wine really blossoms with a couple of hours in the decanter or over two days from the bottle. Alarmingly tasty. Very well made. I really like this 2015. One can consume this currently with a decant, or stash several away and follow over the next 5-20+ years. Class in a glass. Excellent. 94+

Totally inviting on the palate with a comforting medium bodied feel that just gets more and more desirable with each sip. I get that touch of mineral/wet stone that gives this wine lift and keeps me interested. One of the more accessible and totally satisfying Capberns. While this claret is fantastic today, it may be better with a little time. A lot of stimulation for the senses, yet not all at once. I very much like this wine. At this price tag, worth a case to to drink now and a case to pop and explore over the next several years.

Rich and sexy on the nose as well as the mouth. This is ripe and accessible. A lot of exotic fruit and spices. The alcohol here is quite high 15% or more. The terroir and deep structure seems to be missing. It's not lacking substance, but it's not a textbook Saint Estephe. This wine will offer fine pleasure, but will not be as long lived as let us say the outstanding 2016. This is fun, but Anson was on the money, some of these St. Estephe 2018s lack the character and substance over the 2016s. The high alcohol kind of peeps through as well. While I like this wine, I think it has been overrated in 2018. I did prefer the Capbern from this portfolio with the 2018 vintage at a similar price point. Still, this is a wine that offers great value and a good entry to the house. In fact, the Marquis de Calon Segur is typically a go to for me while the Grand Vin ages. I'm not going to get much from California that will compete with this at its price point. Of course I recommend it.

Comes out inky and dark with a vibrant violet rim, really rich in the mouth, with all kinds of of red and blue fruits. Fragrant, alluring nose. A lot of texture from the well judged tannins. With a good body, I feel a little tasteful oak, but also quite pure. Not modern, but has a very generous entry. I had a bottle over three days. I liked it best on day one and possibly more on day three. It actually become more integrated and lighten up in a good way, showing more elegance and expressive fruit. This wine is still young, but no harm drinking it today. I think this wine will really sing in about 3-5+ years. Probably will cellar well for 10-15+ years. This is a wine that is probably hard for most to assess when young, but like its stablemate Chateau Belle-Vue, it really comes into fine form after a few years. Definitely worth hiding some away. Issued in a classy wooden six pack. I believe this parcel is near the Margaux appellation and has some beautiful perfumed fruit once aerated. I had a second bottle and was just as pleased. Worth having a six pack on hand to drink young and yet to perhaps snag another case to cellar for a bit. Very unique and outstanding indeed!

What is intriguing is this wine becomes more floral and refined with air. In fact, it loses some of the fat with much appealing finesse. Good character and already offering pleasure. I do think this will still improve and can be put away for the short to mid term, no problem. I do like this now as well. Immediately the depth and class becomes apparent after the esprit red. Fruits galore, this is so loaded, the oak is barely discernible, but peaks through on the length in form of BBQ spices. This wine is rich, but very regal with a caressing light mouth feel. The finish goes on while it dazzles with each sip. Wow, this is another stunner form Mr. Olivier Bernard and his team. Usually, the DDC blanc is a notch above the rouge, but this may be the second year in the row where the red is the star of the stable. 96-98

The Grand Vin blanc, after its initial few years, often takes some time to come around, as its built to age for the long haul.
I find the Esprit Chevalier blanc to be just perfect for drinking its first several years of release. It has a lot of grand vin characteristics, but with early appeal and harmony. Complete and wholly satisfying at a fraction of the grand vin blanc pricing. Making this esprit label a personal favorite for the blanc. A little different from the great 2010, this is probably Mr. Olivier Bernard and his team's all time best DDC red! Despite its reasonable price point, this will be one the top wines out there. This is why I drink Bordeaux. An over achieving benchmark for this great estate.

This white displays the hall marks of a great Chevalier Blanc: Citrus, flowers, lemon, oily, viscous textures, yet vibrant and racy. Plenty of zip. A lot going on here. Crazy long finish. Whoa! I may prefer this over the 15 and 16. Could end up top for white of the vintage.

Deep, red violet rim surrounds a black inner core. Ripe cherry-berry compote nose, A lot of dark fruits here. You name them, it's here. Very silky despite being full and sexy. Spicy and ripe, revealing much complexity, a lot of dimension at this early stage. Quiet the experience. The textures are exquisite. A lot of body, yet light on its feet. Great freshness too. This wine is made for the long haul. Take no prisoners. Epic. It's going to provide different experiences along the way. Would be nice to follow over the decades to come. Harvest dates: Sept 20th-October 5th 2018.
A tentative blend of 70-75% merlot, 25-30% cabernet franc. 70% new oak barrel. This is certified organic, bravo!
Certainly on the level of the 2009 and the great 2010. Parker rated the 2009 a perfect 100 points, and this could be better!

Vibrant crimson rim and dark core. Floral nose, violets, red, blue, and black fruits on the palate. Lots of flavors, showing some finesse. Toasty, yet fresh and vibrant. This is already displaying a lot of complexity. An array of spices and crushed sea shells. The cabernet franc component really shines here. This is going to be superb!
50% merlot, 35% cabernet franc, 15% cabernet sauvignon. Organic certified!

As usual, dark in color with a black core. A lot of spice and stones. This is a serious. Dark, ripe fruits and character. Rich and structured, yet vibrant. This label is consistent. Offers great value and this 2018 is no doubt a winner!

A glass being poured released an alluring fragrance I would smell from across the tasting table. Positively Chateau Margaux. Flowers, blue berries, red and black spicy cherries. Multi-dimensional structure. Tannins have some power and still needs some time to interweave with the velvety fruit. A lot going on here. Very regal. Still a bit young. I would hold for another 3-5 years at the least, and should go for decades. Youthful in color as well. Rock solid. One fo the top wines of the Left Bank.
I was told this was decanted earlier that morning and was being poured from the bottle at roughly 2PM.

Wow, quite a substantial wine. Good vibrant color. Lots of pure cherries and fine length. Very Margaux, very nice. Drinking well now, but will devlop further, but seriously good on this day. Probably the best Pavillon red I had had. More pure than its fine 2000 vintage counterpart for sure. This is rocking.

I had the honor of tasting this 2014 Pavillion Blanc alongside Mr. Paul Pontallier during en primeur spring 2015, and we knew this was very special indeed. Infact, for this vintage it trailed only behind Haut Brion and La Mission Haut Brion. Leaving behind some of my favorites blancs from Pessac Leognan. This may be the best modern day Pavillon Blanc to date. Though the future is bright.

Skip to 2020, where I had this bottle once again. Actually, in 2018, it was open and showing incredibly well. Currently, the wine is still light in color, with a very fragrant nose. The flavors are pure and firm. A lot of concentration and polish. A lot of acidity at the moment as well. Long finish. Perhaps starting to shut down, but something to behold. This wine should have no problem cruising in the cellar. Hard to gauge when to open again, as bottles are precious and few. It may need to sleep at the moment. My feeling is to hold for a year or two longer before trying. Unaldulterated Sauvignon Blanc here! 96+
