5th of 12. Cherry, raspberry and black pepper. Showing a remarkable amount of primary fruit for a wine that is 21 years old and only cost £14 en primeur. Slightly too austere on the finish with quite high acidity, it will be interesting to see how it develops but I fear that the balance is not ideal. Drunk with pork chops "herbs to Provence" and was very nice. 4/5

1st of 12. Not decanted and far too young to enjoy properly. Elegant berry fruit but lots of minerality and tannins giving a very dry and rather astringent finish. Drunk with some excellent sausages which softened the tannin but will wait a few years before the next bottle and decant well in advance. 4/5

2nd of 12. Elegant round plum fruit with some leather and more complex than previous year. Still has noticeable soft tannin giving a dry note on finish. Drunk with Toulouse sausage and would have been better to have chosen a more robust wine to counter the spiciness of the sausage. 4/5

6th of 12. This is a lovely wine, medium gold with some nuttiness and biscuit flavours as it has aged but is still remarkably fresh and distinctively a Rhone Valley white wine. Quite fat and oily it was drunk with Lebanese meze and was a good match for the mix of flavours. It is too complex and rich for most seafood. 4+/5

2nd of 3. Just amazing and proof that the last bottle was not a fluke. Beautiful and fresh after nearly 20 years, tropical fruits with some buttery biscuity overtones. A really classy wine that has aged far better than my top white Bordeaux's and Burgundies have (in general) and this was only a £6 bottle of wine. 5/5

4th of 12. Deep ruby with little sign of age. Fresh black berry fruits with lots of pepper. Some mineral earthiness. Soft tannins on finish. Still very youthful Wait two years for next. Drunk with duck glazed with honey and cloves, celariac puree and and tempora bak choi. Not a great match as sweetness of duck and creaminess of puree intensified the harsher elements of the wine. 4/5
