Low scores are perplexing. This is nothing more than it claims to be. A right bank style Bordeaux with a huge floral bouquet on the nose, like walking into a flower shop. On the palate elegant, the Cab Franc shines with raspberry and faint cherry
So good

Opened for an hour then decanted for two. Served with veal chops.
This wine never disappoints. It is truly big and a fruit bomb, but also more than that. It is complex with a nose of chocolate and dark fruit. The palate has sweet fruit almost blueberryesque, but dark blackberry fruit and plum with a hint of bitter chocolate on the finish. The finish lingers velvety with smooth tannins. Still has years!

DARK Purple to inky black. Did I say Dark purple?? This has tons of bacon fat on the nice, particularly upon first opening. Decanted for an hour and it had barely opened up. We drank a Booker Fracture (09) for US to Auzzie comparison, and the 4 yr old Calif Syrah was much more approachable and singing strong after 1.5 hour open. Took this CH single Vineyard Syrah about 3 hours to really open, then WOW! The Blue and Black berries were all there in harmony. This is still a tannic syrah, that couple easily rest for another 3-5 yrs IMHO. There was a TON of setiment on the bottles side. Just painted with the stuff. This is a BIG wine, and but very well made in a Cote Rotie style, and not a Mollydooker in any way (I like those, just not all the time...). This is a big boy wine, meant to be savored, as the Alcohol is there in abundance, but the fruit does compete well. I'd like to try another one of these in a few years.
