Lively and tart. Not very oaky, but also somewhat unstructured. Cherries, apricots, and a little citrus.

Huge, almost aggressive nose. Not much acid left but still complex and structured, floral notes with hints of super-ripe citrus (almost like lemon meringue) and minerality at the end. As others have mentioned, I was pretty surprised to learn how old this wine was.

Very nice, and paired well with a large roast, but on its way downhill. Would drink this soon if you have any.

Really terrible. So bad that I thought the bottle must be flawed, but we tried a second and it was the same. The closest note I can think of is papaya juice from papaya king (so better than gray's juice but pricier).

I tried a later vintage of this recently and was very pleasantly surprised, but couldn't find any of those bottles. May not be a wine that can withstand any aging, but it was worth the shot (and inexpensive). Have 3 more bottles, so will give it another chance.

Oaky, but not overwhelming, and some nice acidity, slight taste of cranberry.

Had a half-bottle. At first this had a very deep and complex nose, but there wasn't really a lot of anything on the palate. A bit of heat, some tannins, but generally just stringy and boring. It opened up nicely, and paired well with a rich and slightly spicy meal.

slightly astringent, but some nice ripe fruits and smooth nonetheless. Nothing too special, but very solid.

Musky barnyard nose, that did not match the way this wine tasted, or at least, the taste was not what I expected. Somewhat coppery taste, with tart fruits. Interesting, though I'm not sure what to pair it with or how eager I am to try more.

Rusty and coppery; bit on the tannic side.

Green and smooth; would like to try again earlier in a tasting.

There were 2 bottles of this at a tasting. The person leading the tasting thought one was flawed, and I'm pretty sure I drank from the other, but I think both may have been off. Robitussin may have been the closest comparison point for taste.

Buttery, some taste of green apples. Not my style exactly.

Lots of minerals, with a cedar-esque taste. I think I was unprepared for this after a much more robust wine before hand, so I would like to taste again.

I was the only one at the tasting that liked this at all, but I found it pleasant, if a bit bell-peppery.

This was so heavily tannic when I opened it that I thought it was a flawed bottle. After a really long time open, it was just a bit boring.

Scored this at 92 in 2011. Had it again this thanksgiving, and would rate it 90. Still very nice, but not as vibrant.

Way too young. Fine, but really, nothing going on here. Will try again in a few years.

Had a second bottle of this very shortly after having the first. For whatever reason, it wasn't quite as good as the first, but was still extremely nice. Tons of minerals, clear, clarified taste. A friend from the UK who likes rieslings has often expressed doubts that NY can produce them. I intend to bring him a bottle of this the next time I see him.

Right when opened, wine was sour/tart. Opened up, reveled a mineral bitterness with hints of leather. Not my style, exactly, but very good.

Light, almost bronze color, very smooth though not terribly complex. Decanted for a bit and that seemed to help.

sorta strange dessert wine; hard to rank compared to other wines, but somewhere between a port and standard red.

Light copper/bright red. Tart (maybe not quite ripe raspberries), very smooth but with spices, esp. on aftertaste.

Sweet fruits, particularly plum slighty acidic and peppery finish. Lots of tannins, classic brunello color.
