Light blonde in color, this wine showed lime, saline and wet rocks on the nose. The mouth feel brought light-medium body with defined minerality, hints of sage and lime zest. The finish was short and dry, with more citrus notes coming out.

Purchase for $30US/bottle at the Columbus Inn in Wilmington, DE, this bottle seemed much less enjoyable than previous years of this offering I've enjoyed over many vintages. All of the similar elements were there, but they lacked focus and defined linearity of ones I've had over the years. It was a decent offering, however, to share with a friend over conversation and snacks at the bar.

5/9/14, 10:56 AM - Thank you for the note, it lines up fairly well with my impression of the 2012. Sorry you got hit with the mark up. We love this wine during the summer at my house, but at the <$10 US price point.

2010 E. Guigal Côtes du Rhône Red Rhone Blend
Bottle variation worked out for me on this one. I generally like this CdR as a value proposition, but have found the 2010 to be a little thin and out of balance. This appeared medium/dark with a nose of raspberry and pepper. Good amount of fruit on the palate and medium to long finish with well resolved tannin and decent acidity. It showed really well.

Attempted to open with ah-so and wound up with the cork in the bottle. Slow-ox'd in cellar for several hours.

Bottle from auction purchase and appeared to be in perfect condition with pristine label and high fill-mark.
Dark violet in color with some particulate in glass (not dark sediment).
On the nose, cherry fruit, some pencil shavings, still some acid.
In the mouth, lighter tart cherry fruit, earth, with a nice long finish. Really singing and quite delicious. Style was very similar to 85, which I recently tasted.
