Multiple tastings with consistent notes. Quite outstanding. It showed no signs of decline, could have used another couple of years in the cellar.

My favorite Pinot. Not a fruit bomb, leaning towards the austere side. Wonderful.

I was surprised by this wine as I’m not a big fan of the 100% Cab Franc. This wine was quite stunning, gobs of big, bright fruit flavors. More intense than I expected, though not a ton of depth. I can easily see why this wine blends so well with the other Hobbs Cabernet wines.

Not a good vintage to begin with and this wine is in decline. Drink up.

A little brown on the edge, little fruit left, past its prime. Drink up.

One of the few 2013’s I’ve tasted that are ready to drink. Bright fruit flavors, tannins still present, but not biting your head off. Wish I had more.

Cork was perfect. This wine has held up pretty well for a 2011. Not a fruit bomb by any means, nice balance between fruit and aromatics. Quite enjoyable

Always a winner in my book. Dark fruits, could have used a little more age. Impressive wine at this price point. Best I can tell, this wine is now labeled as Coombsville. I think the wine was always from those vineyards.

Perfect amount of aging, tannins fully integrated, plenty of good fruit flavors. Wish I had more.

I’ve been drinking down some older bottles of Caymus from my cellar. This particular bottle was quite outstanding. Still a fruit forward wine, but not a fruit bomb by any means. Very well balanced.

Holding up fairly well, but on the downhill side of life. Fruit has receded, tannins fully integrated. Hardly tastes like Caymus. Drink up.

Multiple tastings with consistent notes. Strong aromatics, tannins are still pretty firm. Could easily use more cellar time.

Consistent notes. This wine has held up well. Typical Seavey profile, more aromatics than fruit.

Decanted for an hour then consumed it over the next 6. Still very tight but opened up after a few hours. Strong aromatics, as is the style here.

Surprisingly good, still plenty of fruit, nice aromatics, tannins fully integrated. I like this better than 07 Mondavi Reserve.

A little thin and burned out. Usually these wines are very durable, but not this one. Perhaps flawed. Disappointing.

I’ve tasted both 07 & 08 recently. This 08 was quite impressive, good fruit flavors, fully integrated tannins. Better than the 07 I drank.

A classic from a great vintage. The last one I had was a bit off, but this was spot on. Heavy, dark fruit. Notes of tobacco and smoked meat. Still going strong, no sign of burnout.

Surprisingly soft for a 2013. Reminded me of some of the flavors I taste in Kathryn Hall and Excellenz and I believe grapes from this vineyard are used in those blends. Enjoyable, but not worth > $200.

Drinking beautifully now, the 2013’s are really opening up. Finally!

Starting to show some signs of burning out. Drink up!

Nothing but tannins and astringency, maybe it was a bad bottle, or needed a lot more cellaring. 2013 was a slow aging vintage (at least in Napa, this is Sonoma), but some of my favorites, like Paul Hobbs Napa, are opening up nicely.

If I tasted this blind, I wouldn’t have any idea it was Seavey. Luscious and juicy, but without any depth of flavor or intensity. Seavey did a good job controlling the tannins and creating a drinkable wine from a really tough year. Drink up.

Surprisingly good and better than my last tasting. The fruit bomb characteristic has faded away, but plenty of fruit remains. Good balance of fruit & aromatics. Large amount of sediment.

This is finally starting to open up, though could use more age. Leaning towards the aromatic/tannic side, not a fruit bomb by any means.

I’ve been drinking some older bottles of Caymus, 08, 09 & 10 (this). I’ve been pleasantly surprised, not a heavy wine, by any means, but still plenty of fruit without the jammy characteristic of younger vintages. Drink up.

The best 09 BDX I’ve tasted (which isn’t many), good fruit flavors without being jammy. Not too much of that BDX twang, nice aromatics. I would buy again.

One of the better 2011 Napa cabs I’ve had, though I didn’t buy many (lousy vintage). A hollow tasting wine with little depth. Not worth the price.

Another big winner from Paul Hobbs in 2012. A truly massive wine, much more so than the Beckstoffer Dr. Crane which I also tasted (and rated higher). Huge amount of sediment. Definitely could have taken more cellar time. Reminded me of PH Beckstoffer To-Kalon. Incredible depth.

My favorite wine from my favorite producer. A gorgeous wine; soft, fully integrated tannins. Perfumed with notes of red raspberry. Not heavy at all.

Multiple tastings with consistent notes. Given some cellar time, the over the top fruit bomb character starts to fade away and this wine starts to show better balance.
