Not too bad but quite simplistic. Probably better young.

Tight as a drum on night one, but the quality oak was noted. On night two it had opened up beautifully. Med bodied at most, elegant cool climate Chard with a bit of grip on the finish. Now until 5 years.

Looked dark and youthful. Smelt and tasted delicious, but started to fall apart after a few hours. Maybe drink now, maybe hold for ethereal beauty? Classic beguiling Pinot.

Needed a two hour decant. Still young but losing it's puppy fat. Drying and not overly complex. Hold for tertiary goodness... I hope.

I'm not sure. Maybe this has just started to develop because on the palate and the nose it is very in-offensive. I'm a bit in-between with this one. Hold or drink. Maybe hold and hope.

Kind of happening but kind of not. A wonderful nose but restrained on the palate, even after leaving it over night. Tannins super fine but a little too subtle, a slight sheen on the finish and a touch porty. Too soon? Too late? The colour has hardly budged. I'm a bit lost on this one.

Yes, a non-oxidised bottle. It's been a while since we opened this vintage and this bottle was in fine form. No Kero! Hurrah! The faintest hint of Sherry on the nose for a minute or two after opening, and then bliss. Concentrated, fine acid, structured and moreish, this was the perfect food wine. This bottle was probably just past its peak, but after 20 years in cork, that ain't bad.

This bottle was maybe just a little past its prime drinking window, and I like my Cab Sauv pretty aged, but delicious none the less. On opening it gave up nothing, but we left it over night with the cork in and by the next day it had opened up. None of that cloy sweetness you sometimes get on Aussie Cabs, this was bone dry, fine tannin-ed goodness. Drank it over two nights and only at the end did it fall over. Drink now.

Really good but just a pup. Needs a good decant to show well at the moment as it is so tight. Got the stuffing for a good 10 year run... I think.

Delicious! Ruddy delicious. So appealing. The perfect aperitif as the acid makes you hungry. Beautifully balanced in the mouth as it pushes all the right buttons. Moreish, refreshing and complex. What a wine.

And then you open a bottle like this!
Excellent. Beautiful mouthfeel of aged Bdx fruits. Med bodied goodness. Not jammy in the slightest. Drink now or hold for a few more years.

Nup, not for me. A bit soupy and lacking structure and flavour. Very neutral. Too old at three years? Shame.

Wow. This bottle wasn't a patch on the 2013 we had earlier this year. I hope that it's in a little hole so I'll hold my other bottles and cross my fingers. The acid poked out and there was a lack of varietal flavours coming through.

Slowly getting there. I'm leaving my other three alone for a few years yet. Perfect cork. Bright deep red with just the first signs of age creeping in to the wine. The nose is still quite primary but the palate is softening. The acid is more subtle, the tannins more silky but the tertiary flavours are yet to come through. Decanted for two hours. Hold for another 4-6 years at least.

Fantastic. Pale straw with a fine bead. The nose is focused and restrained. No bready, yeasty vegemite bomb here. The palate is young, lean delicious and yet powerful. Built for another ten years easy. Utterly moreish.

A stunning, stunning wine. Aged in our cellar for about 15 years, this was spectacular. Rich, mellow, savoury, integrated tannins, a hint of tawny port, a dash of blood and iron. Huge length with very subtle bubbles. An incredible wine as an aperitif while cooking big steaks in a hot BBQ.

This bottle might have been a touch past it's prime with the acid too harsh and the fruit having dropped out of the palate leaving slightly green, harsh tannins. Might have been better a few years ago. Hard work. Shame.

Closed up tight on day one. A little better on day two but still acidic and a touch astringent. On day three however it has opened up beautifully. Med weight with a rich rose petal nose, this wine was both delicate and powerful. Hold for 5 years and then try again. Rough now, but will get a lot better with age.

Pale gold, nose of green melon and hint of toast. Excellent drive through the palate, tight but expressive. Great acidity. Still young. Drink now or hold for 5 years. Good now but more to come.

Quite developed for a Basket Press. Smooth, slightly volatile meaty goodness. Oh, and it had that Hermitage iron edge to it as well. Drink now.

Ageing beautifully. Tea leaf and tobacco tertiary elements make this my cup of tea... Cabernet. Light and delicate on the palate but with flavour and bouquet in abundance. Drink now.

Very good. Slightly luscious but with enough of an acid backbone to carry it off. Not as lean as a lot of the Canberran Rieslings I've had. Drink now or hold for 2-3 years.

I have had a few bottles of this over the years which have been beautiful, but this one was all over the shop. Has this little sweet wine finally fallen over the edge of time? A shame if it has.

Still kicking on strongly but showing a few hints of age which only add complexity. Drank it with mates from Sydney and they were bowled over by it, especially after I told them the price. Great VFM. No rush to drink but in a lovely place.

Still remarkably youthful showing almost no signs of age on the rim. Nose hints at TCA but still there is a quality wine underneath. Ditto the palate. Even with TCA around, the palate isn't stripped. The others I drank this with aren't as sensitive to TCA and hence loved this. This bottle still had plenty of stuffing for another five years at least.

A beautiful Northern Rhone-like, cool climate Aussie Shiraz. Med body, ripe tannins but for me the acid was sticking out. Will this integrate down the track? I sure hope so for my two other bottles. :-)

Delicious. Don't over chill this or the bouquet will hide and the mouthfeel won't be as expansive as it should. At this young age it also could do with a quick decant as ours got better and better as the bottle emptied. Lovely Marsanne (with a hint of Rousanne and Viognier). Good now or over the next ten years.

Primary goodness! Not in as awesome a place as the 2012 is at the moment, but with all the stuffings to get there. Beautiful fine acid, sherbet like mouthfeel. Not too limey citrus. Drink now or hold for well over a decade.

Really good but not as stunning as the 2012 at this point in time. I suspect the primary fruit is starting to morph into its secondary stage. Hold for a few years and then drink for a decade.

Fantastic wine. Popped and decanted for 30 min before drinking. Still just coming out if it's primary phase, thus wine is good to go or hold for another 5-10 years. Subtle flavours, delicate oak, lifting acid all leads to a moreish and interesting bottle. Just lovely.

Not sure what the go was here as I normally love Saint-Joseph, but this was a shrill mess. Maybe it was my palate, but it was still way out of whack for me on the third night. In a dip? I'm not so sure. Shame.

Oops, I drank it again. Like his Chardonnay, I just can't keep my hands off his wine. Young but oh, so, good! This wine has energy. Fresh fruit and lifting acid, this can be scoffed by itself (guilty!) or with a meal. Glut down now or hold for at least 5 years. Smack bang delicious.

Champion! A Chablis-like Aussie wine. Very restrained oak, delicate Chard flavours, fine acid: you could drink this all day. A perfectly balanced wine. Drink now or hold... if you can.
