On its way to shutting down for a few years, cassis some greenish pepper, cigars. On the palate red and cassis fruit are now receding, yet it is rather bright. Tannins are a bit austere. Wait.

I do not understand the low ratings, this is one of the really pure and profound BF of Austria. Very junipery nose, no oak, pure BF fruit, a bit tart maybe but very much alive and open. On the palate this is silky pure BF juice, black berries and juniper, fully ripe and long. One could criticize the one-dimensional character as of now. But this will show a lot more layered in a few years time. Buy this if you want to know what BF is about.

2014 wasn't kind to this wine. Stone fruit and yeast on the nose, lemon peel as well. On the palate quite thin, acidic, rather short but still with some drinking momentum. Okay, but I am used to much better wines by Josef Dockner.

Incredibly deep colour, pure Noblesse - cedar wood, ripe cassis fruit, mocha latteish - this goes on in the mouth, very smooth and rounded fruit, very drinkable but not open yet and lacking the slight sweetness of mature wines. Still outstanding, but something to be left in the cellar another 5 years.

Very mature bottle, on the verge of being oxidized. Caramel, hazelnuts, baked apples and clearly some residual sugar. Also some fresh acidity. A good wine, but did not do well as a food partner. 90 points

1/2/16, 9:20 AM - I think you maybe didn't give the wine enough time to develop, I do share your note but only as the very first impression of this wine, a lot of time did it very well and the oxidation disappeared.

Absolute powerhouse. Unbelievable wine in every way. How a bottle of this got 84 points from someone is just hard to believe. Long finish. Big fruit. The finish lasts for 60 seconds. Powerful fruit bomb but elegant. Well put together. Well done all the way around. One of the best Cabernet's in Napa. One of the best red wines anywhere. This is a truly special bottle of wine.

6/2/15, 12:59 PM - I was dumbfounded by my bottle as well as I had paid quite a lot of money for it, but it was surely not up to my expectations and far away from your rating. Anyhow, I suspect my bottle wasn't stored properly at all- what a pity...

Finally a US-Cabernet that was worth trying - a flash of blueberry and cassis on the nose, a few swirls later there's some eucalyptus leave as well - gorgeous. Deep fruit, reflecting the nasal aromas, quite a long finish, gripping tannins still, but this is a serious cabernet blend. A great pirate for smaller chateaux tastings.
Drink now until 2025

Dark berry nose, balsamic notes. Berries again, medium bodied, finely grained tannins but an irritating dropsical taste comes forward - tastes like dextrose - okay wine but certainly not a good QPR.

8/25/13, 1:13 PM - There you go, each and everyone has its own taste - to me it is certainly not a wine I would look forward to. The QPR is good if you like the style.
