2005 Nicholas Cole Cellars Reserve Walla Walla Valley Red Bordeaux Blend

I'm down to perhaps three Nicholas Cole bottles, all the reserve Cabernet. It's been an amazing ride with a winery that closed up shop during the recession. Honestly, they made some of the best wine in the state of WA, so it's sad to think about what could have been... Anyway, drank this with some brisket and a side of Pig Iron Mustard BBQ sauce.

The color was a bit brickish and the nose showed a bit of age, but when combined with the food, it was totally singing! Very balanced, lush, yet not heavy, with plenty of fruit left. Next thing I know, I had drank almost all the bottle! I saved some for the next night, but by then it was more acidic than I preferred and a bit muted. I think I caught it just past its peak, but close enough to be thoroughly enjoyable.

His wines were always my favorite, not an average one in the entire line-up, and now that I'm down to my last few, I wish I had bought more. I see we both have an 06 and 07 Reserve left! I want to hang onto these bottles, but I fear for the day when I open my last one and I waited too long. I want each memory to be as good as the last!

2013 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast
Nice clarity upon opening. Berries on the nose. Slightly too tart in the tongue, smoky finish

Consistent experience with my last from 8/2014. However, I think this has improved and was the wine of the night among other really tasty wines from around the world. I knew this was going to deliver, as Maggie's wines always do, but this was extra special.

Sorry to open this so early, but it was for my wife and her friends, so totally worth it. Delicate and smooth (the wine), similar to No Girls Syrah. Liquid rocks.

This wine just moves as it opens up. At first, I was getting more of the bell pepper notes, then I was getting some tea leaf, but at hour 3, I was picking up more of the cola notes. Just a beautiful wine that still has a bit more time left in the bottle. Shame they aren't making wine anymore.

3/26/16, 8:36 AM - Great note. If I can add to this, the first pours had a light pink color and appeared to have a suspension of air bubbles or something throughout. Very peculiar, but ultimately no discernible impact on the wine.. ?

Even in its youth, this is a great wine! Upon opening it caught my attention. While it comes from the Rocks, it doesn't exhibit an overpowering funk that is often reflected in wines from this region (e.g. Cayuse, Reynvaan, etc.) This had beautiful/pretty aromatics that continued to develop. The bacon and lavender notes I received throughout the evening were thoroughly enjoyed. I love what they're doing at Delmas!
