Very slow to open up. First night just some raspberry. Second night, however, was quite enjoyable. Cheery and raspberry nose along with some earthy notes. Palate was balanced with some acidity holding it together with mint and mushroom added to the red fruits. Full finish.

Starting downhill. Big fruity nose---dark cherry and black berries with cocoa notes. Palate shows too much alcohol. Some wood and greenery.

Has held up well. Deep purple, clean and bricking on rim. A complete array of blue and black fruits, some barnyard. Palate shows almost completely resolved tannins but a tad unbalanced with alcohol dominating especially on the finish. Hints of cocoa on back of palate.

Still some of that big jammy Shiraz red fruit. Acid and tannin are resolved but not the tertiary notes I would hope for. Yes, on the elegant side for a Shiraz. May have been better five years ago?

A bit past its prime. yellow circus notes on nose and palate where oak shows up with nuts and still some nice acidity. Agree with previous note that the finish has good length but is a tad one dimensional.

Pleasantly surprised. Deep garnet. The monster tannins have largely resolved, not disappeared. Full cherry, dark plum, garrigue nose. Palate adds spice, black pepper and hints of sweetness. Big, long finish. Happy to have more bottles to enjoy going forward.

Very young. Heavy dark cherry / strawbrry jam nose with roasted meats. Palate shows good acidity along with olive tapenade and finishes with soy notes and smokey oak. Took hours to open. Needs a few more years to really enjoy.

Still some dark red fruit but fading while the acids are predominating.
Some suggestions of earth on palate and finish. Past its prime by a lot.

Have always loved this wine, a Bordeaux classic and this Mag did not disappoint. Bright garnet with slight bricking on rim. Huge nose: dark red fruit, pencil lead, cedar and tobacco. Fulsome, balanced palate with mostly resolved tannin and firm acidity, showing leather, with notes of mint and herbs de Provence. long full finish. Glad to have another 5 Mags.

Mag was disappointing upon opening to decant 5 hours ahead of serving. Was completely shut down and a bummer. BUT when it came time to enjoy it had opened up a lot with a great nose of dark stone fruits with wet stones. Palate added some cherry overtones, leather, rhubarb pie riding on softened tannins and mostly resolved acids. Sweet long finish. Became to wine of the night as the evening went along. Glad to have one more Mag.

From Mag after 6 hours double decanted. Came around but needed every hour to open up. Deep garnet color. Cherry and raspberry upfront with forest floor. Palate still showed 96 tannin and acidity though muted by 26 years. More fruit and earthiness with some spice and leather on back of palate. Long finish but a tad dry.

Wow what a great surprise. From a mag acquired upon release. Decanted 6 hours before drinking. Brite garnet color. Big nose of dark cherry and leather. Palate showed beautifully resolved tannins and soft acids. Yielding more cherry jam, leather along with savory notes and mint on the finish. long soft finish. love this bottle and will buy more mags if I can find them. Mature wine with a great future from large formats.

Wow! Yet again Stony Hill demonstrates its ability to age wondrously for decades. This was from magnum and did not disappoint. Medium golden color with a slowly developing nose of citrus and green apple. Plenty of acidity in a viscous palate that revealed wet stones, honey and some light middle eastern spice. Long full finish. Two more mags left and will wait another five years for the next one.

Agree with others: this is very enjoyable now, like the 2006 and unlike the 2008 which is heavier and needs more time. Pale gold color with great effervescence. Lemon meringue pie on the nose and palate. String acidity and additional orchard fruits underlined by brioche and wet stones. Fine long finish. Should live a long time. Great value.

From mag, beautiful lite color with fine bubbles. Nose took a while to open up....30 minutes in glass. Some apricot and peach. Palate had lighter acidity the I would refer. Lighter weight, with additional notes of mineral. salt and maybe a cinnamon note on the back. Dry finish. Very enjoyable grower Champs but not the weight and complexity of a major producer.

one of the better Aetnas that I have had. Deep dark garnet color. Cherry leather upfront on the nose. Palate reveals a fair amount of tannins and acidity still at work carrying this array of fruits with road tar and hints of mint on the finish. Good for a few more years. Best with food.

Classic 95 Burg. Lite amber on rim with clear garnet color. After 2 hours the nose fully registered with dark cherry and blackberry, some dark chocolate. Palate should more of the same with Vosne spice and ending with hints of violet and some French oak on a moderate plus finish.

86 was not the best of years for Chave. This bottle was well past its drinking window. Purchased on release and well stored ever since. Red fruits fading, tannins and acids resolved. Some leather, earthiness. Love Chave but this should have been enjoyed earlier. My last bottle.

I have liked the 93s a long time. Many were very enjoyable early, eg after ten years. This one was purchased on release and was drinking better than expected. Cherry and raspberry nose with hints of leather, road tar and rose petals. More on the palate with resolved tannins. Long finish that carried the leather and rose petals quire a ways but ended on a very dry acidic note.

While many 93 Burgs have been under rated, this one was disappointing. Cherry nose but not a lot of depth. Acid palate was not balanced with enough fruit. Maybe this was the beginning of what became the 1996 disaster for Ponsot.

This wine has demonstrated significant bottle variation. This bottle was quite good with dark cherry and some quince on the nose with garrigue hints, lavender, leather. More on the palate. Still some soft tannins holding this wine together. Longish finish.

Tasted and then used in a demi-glace wine reduction sauce. Similar to prior notes. Very good value Bordeaux. Not the depth of fruit (dark cherry) I would hope for. Good balance with soft tannins and lite acidity.

Cherry. Cherry. Cherry. Cali. Cali. Cali.

Took an hour to open up. Light weight without much depth or complexity compared to other Sangiacomos. I doubt this will improve.
Medium cherry finish with some vanilla creme.

Raspberry, cranberry, dark cherry with some forest floor on the medium nose. Palate shows a bit more acidity than I would expect at this age. More fruit, grilled mushroom and lavender hints toward the finish which was medium plus in length but on the dry side. Maybe 2026 will show softer.

Disappointing. Mostly grapefruit on the nose with slight suggestion of mango on palate. Fairly simple. Not the acidity i expect from a good sauvignon blanc. Plenty of better choices in this price range.

Perfect bottle for a great wine evening. Was 2nd best WOTN next to a perfect mag of 88 Cristal Rose. Deep garnet with bricking on the rim. A huge nose of tertiary flavors and fruits: Dark cherry, plum jam, roasted meats, savory spices, brambles and leather. lots more of the same on the palate with some minty suggestions. Full but soft tannins and a finale that goes on and on. Bought on release. A real beauty with plenty of life ahead.

Good bottle. Bright garnet, clear with little to no bricking on the rim. Black cherry on the front end of a complex full nose. Leather, cedar, forest floor. Palate added hints of anise and a tiny amount of acidity that embraced a full finish. Jay and a couple others thought it lasted like a fine Burg. Glad to have two more bottles.

A tremendous 85 Krug bottle (no oxidative signals: nuts or butterscotch or caramel. Plenty of fine bubbles/effervescence.
Nose starts with lemon meringue, wet stones, green apple, with more on the palate along with forest mushrooms and brioche. Wonderful fine acidity carries everything thru on a long finish. Love this wine!

Very disappointing. Did not have the fruit, spices or rose petals that I expect from a good Chianti. Yes, the acidity and tannin were there, but bones without flesh are not enjoyable. I look forward to tasting another bottle. Hope this was just a deviant bottle.

Enjoyable Beaujuice! a little deeper garnet than a lot of these. Intense red fruit nose with hints of bubblegum, white pepper. Balanced palate with soft acidity and longish finish. Happy to have more. The Les Grilles is quickly becoming a favorite Gamay.

dark cherry fruit and some hints of earthy loam on the nose. Deeper color than expected and more weight on the palate. Developed more tertiary characteristics as the evening proceeded. Enjoyed much more than expected. Looking forward to the 2018 and 19. Medium length finish with some acid carrying it on.

My favorite sort of barnyard nose with black cherry/berry fruit, leather, etc. Like the 83 Beaucastel. Big palate with more of the same and hints of roasted meats and anise. Finish is extended with plenty of soft tannins. Has years to go.

Well past its peak. Simple lemon curd with lite overtones of green apple. None of the flintiness or petrol or acidity that I love in great Chablis. Sad, especially for a Dauvissat.

Could easily pass for a Burg. Nose full of green apple, Myer lemon, wet stones, brioche. Palate reveals great but silky acidity, baking spice and sweet earth. Weighty mouth feel and long finale. Really tasty Oregon chard.

Needs a good food pairing. As a quaff by itself I might rate it 88-89. Bright deep golden color. Complex nose with layers that leave you wondering---wet stones, dried citrus rinds, with hints of burned match & brown sugar running throughout. Palate adds toasted almonds with everything draped over tremendous weight and acidity. Long finish. This was perfect match for a cauliflower soup garnished with diced foie gras and drizzled melted foie fat. Wow!

Beautiful bright color with plenty of fizz. Off the bat, it slaps you in the face with strawberries. This is quickly followed with wet stones and hints of red berries and loam. Tremendous acidity supports the layers of flavor and runs with a very long enjoyable finish. This will improve for years.

My all time favorite Taitt CC and started my B-day dinner with it. Never disappoints. Fresh for its age....no nuts....fine bubbles persisted about 20 minutes. Brioche, nectarine, lemon underlined by wet stones and plenty of acidity. Lovely. Wish I had another case and not just 1 btl.
