This riesling was a bit more sweet than I expected but it was still nice. There was stone fruit, apple on the palate with nice acidity. Medium minus sweetness.

Deep purple in color and very aromatic with blackberries, boysenberry black cherry and cinnamon on the nose. On the palate there are layers of black fruit- boysenberry, blackberry, spice, mineral, toasted oak and cigar box. Full bodied without being heavy or overextracted and it has a long finish. Drinking well but this certainly can age but I need to drink while my taste buds still work!

Decanted this wine for 2-3 hours. Deep purple in color, this wine is full bodied and concentrated with layers of flavors including blackberries, blueberries, mocha and spice. Tannins are present but not overpowering. Wonderful wine.

We were treated with this wine by a friend. The color was brick in color with aromas of mushroom and some fruit. On the palate this wine had layers of flavor that included leather, cherry and spice. The tannins were very smooth and alcohol was low ending with a medium finish. Extremely balanced and still drinking wonderfully. A treat to drink such an old wine.

The wine is deep ruby/brick (in between… definitely transitioning to brick). It is dry, very full bodied, and high alcohol with intense aromas off blackberry, blueberry, licorice, violets, and cinnamon. It has intense flavors of blackberry, mulberry, cassis, leather, and a hint of clove. It has medium tannins (with no edge) and a medium length in the finish, which is not particularly interesting… probably the only weakness in this superb wine. This is an excellent wine though. Wish I had more!

This cab has a nose of deep dark fruit and graphite. On the palate, pronounced rich dark berries and blueberries with a velvety texture and full body. The tannins have settled in nicely and this wine is begging to be drunk now. Enjoy!

Decanted for 2 hours. There was a lot of sediment in the bottle. Deep ruby in color with pronounced aromas of blueberries, blackberries ending with wet stone, licorice. On the palate this ethereal wine imparts pronounced cassis, blueberry, red currant, medium cigar box, and light mocha and spice notes. Full bodied with silky tannins and a long finish. A very classy wine

Decanted for 2 hours and drank over the next 2. This blend of 45% Grenache, 29%% Mourvedre and 18% Syrah and 8% Counoise had a lot of sediment in the bottle and gave off a wonderful deep nose of dark berries and herbs. On the palate, there are notes of extracted blackberries, cassis, dark raspberry and licorice. This full bodied wine is drinking smoothly with its fine tannins. Always one of my favorites.

Dry. High acidity. Medium alcohol. Medium bodied. Green apple and lemon on the nose and palate with a round mouthfeel. This is a very good wine that stands up well to top German and Austrian Rieslings (for much less money).

It was and I'd encourage trying one out just to experience it. The issue I had was with a "funk" on the nose that did not blow off with aeration or time. Otherwise, I'd have given it maybe 89 points. It's medium bodied and high acid (but was drunk too many days ago to remember any more specifics).

This beauty has notes of sour cherry, raspberries, spice and minerals. Elegant and expressive, this wine is full bodied without being heavy. The tannins were notable but not overwhelming. Drinking quite well now but likely will only get better with age.

There was a lot of sediment on decanting this wine. It has a deep ruby color with a little garnet on the edge. This cab has medium intensity aromas of blackberries with cassis, black cherry licorice and cinnamon and a hint of honeysuckle. This full bodied wine has layers of blackberries, dark plum, licorice and spice. The tannins are grippy with high alcohol notes and a long finish. This wine can easily age longer but drinking great now.

The Carlisle Zin is dark ruby in color. On the palate, notes of black raspberry, licorice and spice. This full bodied wine has smooth tannins and can stand to age longer.

Really disagree with the previous raters. This is a lovely wine vinified in more of an Alsatian style. I'd characterize it as dry with a hint of sweetness that rounds out the flavor and mouthfeel and not at all "flabby". Agree on the floral and stone fruit notes but also get some citrus on both the nose and palate. For the price, I think it's a great value. The is a very good wine.

I poured a Coravin of this a month ago and drinking the rest now after decanting (a lot of fine sediment). Wow, a magnificent wine with so much finesse. Deep purple in color, the wine had pronounced notes of dark berries with hints of smoke. On the palate this full bodied wine displayed blackberries, plum, chocolate, licorice with hints of spice and smokey notes. The acid, fruit and polished tannins were all in perfect balance with a long finish. One for the ages and it easily can last years longer but why wait?

Deep purple in color this is a big wine that needs several hours of decant. An hour after decant this #22 WS Top 100 of 2017 was still a bit harsh with an acid, tannin and big fruit hit. By the end of the night everything was much more in balance, full bodied, medium textured, blackberry, spice, tobacco with tannins still prominent. I think this will be much better in 3-5 years but still a joy to drink.

This wine is medium ruby in color. On the nose there is green pepper, currant and black pepper with some minerality. On the palate, the wine has medium acidity and alcohol and with blackberry, red currant flavors with subtle notes of mushroom, green pepper and black pepper. The wine is a pale-medium garnet with medium intensity aromas of violets, mushroom, leather, and a mix of red and black fruit. The wine is dry with high acidity and high alcohol. It has a medium, well-integrated, fine tannic structure and is medium-to-full bodied. Flavors of mushroom, leather, tar, red currant and blackberries are predominant at medium intensity. It has a long, mature finish. This is a very good wine. Great for old Nebbiolo-lovers like myself.

The Copain is medium ruby in color. There is medium intensity cherry on the nose. On the palate, cherry and raspberry notes accompany a light body and acidity. The tannins are low on this as well. While not particularly complex, this is a good balanced wine to serve with chicken.

On the palate, the wine is expressive with blackberry jam, dark cherry, mocha, herbs and spice. This full bodied wine has medium acidity and heat from the alcohol with velvety tannins and a long finish.

While at 14.8% alcohol, the wine is full bodied, very smooth and medium alcohol and acidity with a hint of salinity and butter notes. Really great wine drinking really very well right now.

Deep purple in color with slight bricking on the edge. This wine is very aromatic with black berries and plum with some red currant. On the palate the wine is rich with dark fruit, plum, a gaminess with hints of tea, smoke and spice. The tannins are silky smooth and well integrated. This may be at it's peak?

#2 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2015. This anniversary wine did not disappoint. This deep purple wine had medium notes of blueberry, dark fruits and cinnamon in the glass. On the palate, the wine imparted concentrated blackberry, plum and hints of mocha finishing with notes of cigar box and mineral/graphite. This full bodied wine had medium acidity, smooth tannins with high alcohol and a long finish. Wonderful.

It has plenty of years left.
