Italian beauty with a slice of California. Wonderfully integrated and approachable. Delicious.

Coming together quite nicely. I gave it 88 pts. in 2013. Rich berries, soft edges, full bodied with toasty oak. Elegant.

1/20/18, 2:16 PM - Good to hear. Finding that many of the Washington Cabs/Blends dramatically benefit from cellar time. Not always the case with their California counterparts.

Big, oaky and packs a tannic punch. A full throttled wine that needs more time in the bottle or an extensive decant. Soften a little after 3 hours, but could never get through the wall of tannins to experience the fruit. Will try again tomorrow after being opened over night.

10/6/17, 9:22 AM - It rounded out a little more the next day. No question this is a big, powerful and complex wine - but I prefer a little more integration and balance in the tannic structure and fruit flavors. Something was missing for me, but I gave it 88 points because it is clearly a special wine, although, as a 2011 I thought it should be further evolved. How was your experience with the wine?

Very similar to the 2012, but with slightly less fruit and spice on the entry. Elegant, rich and mildly acidic. Nice finish. Opened up after a couple hours. Outstanding QPR from WTSO

Need to do a side-by-side tasting of the 2012 and 2013.

Pleasant, but not spectacular. Based on the earlier notes I was a little disappointed. Was on the border of giving it 89 pts. Little flat and not much complexity.
  • Castle Peak commented:

10/18/16, 2:50 PM - In hindsight maybe should have given it 89 points. Like I said it was pleasant, but was not great and possibly warranted a lower score. Not sure what you mean by "border," but the wine was more enjoyable than a wine I would score at 85 86, or 87.
