Dark red color, showing only slight development on the rim. Intense aromas of ripe plums, ripe cherry, some iodine, like freshly drawn blood from a scraped knee, greenness of a tomato plant, tobacco and dried herbs. Full on the palate. Still dominated by ripe plums and cherry, with some dried notes of prunes. Long finish with more complexity, mainly from notes of tobacco and herbs. The tannins are developed and very fine. Likewise is the alcohol very well integrated. This wine has developed nicely.

Black opaque color with a thin brick red hue. Intense aromas of black currant, sweet licorice, freshly cut tobacco leaves, tea and currant liqueur. On the palate there is a similar sweetness and liqueur drive with loads of concentration and intensity. Layers of black currant, clean and ripe, with green, vegetable notes framing it. The midpalate and finish packs licorice, tobacco and a touch of vanilla. The ripeness and power is really counterbalanced by the green vegetable notes, making the overall impression balanced and with a lot of drinkability.

Dark red center with a slightly orange hue. Warm, inviting nose with dark plums, morellos, crushed stones and licorice rot. Similar taste where the warm, ripe, dark fruit dominates the attack, but quickly leaves room for the licorice, crushed stone and tobacco on the midpalate and finish. Somewhat metallic on the finish, which I can’t get my head around at the moment.

Opaque color with a thin bluish rim. Brooding and deep black fruit, minerals and oak on the nose. Inviting, but with a backlash of tannins and acidity. Harder on the palate than I remember it from last time. Still very tasty with layered black fruit, stony minerals and creamy caramel. The oak adds interesting, well-integrated secondary notes, which do stand out.

Clear yellow color. Tight nose which needed a lot of air to open up with yellow fruits, fruit pit, flower field, wild herbs and freshly grinded cacao beans. On the palate it is more juicy and inviting with a good deal of fruit, both white and yellow, but with the bitterness of the fruit core or pit. Very tight on the midpalate and finish, but showing great potential with structure, length and intensity. Wet stones and minerals on the long finish. At finish very tight, but it really open up on day 2.

Beautiful yellow color with a youthful greenish hue. Very intense nose with notes of exotic yellow fruits such as lychee, pineapple and passion fruit, as well as ripe yellow plums, oak and burned caramel. On the palate it is very juicy with loads of ripe yellow fruit. Very hedonistic and inviting style, where the fruit stretches through to the finish. On the midpalate notes of creamy caramel and a touch of vanilla adds to the complexity. Great length and striking acidity balances the fruit and sweetness perfectly.

Light red color with a bluish hue. Fruit focused nose with aromas of redcurrant, rhubarb and blueberry mixed with soured whole milk and a touch of toffee. Equally primary on the palate with red cherry and blueberry dominating the attack. On the midpalate and finish follow licorice, toffee and butterscotch. Although the fruit is sweet and powerful it is with restraint and structure, as well as a coolness and depth that lifts the whole wine. Very good length.

Deep yellow color. Full-bodied nose with lots of power and intensity, brimming with aromas of ripe yellow plum, honeyed melon, butter, oak and vanilla. On the palate it is sexy and extremely inviting with loads of juicy and sweet yellow plum fruit. Although a full-throttle styled wine it restrains itself a lot on the midpalate and finish, where a powerful acidity kicks in and balances the wine very nice. Notes of butter, popcorn, smoke, oak and vanilla on the long and lasting finish. A real pleaser.

Pale yellow color. Very distinct Sauvignon Blanc notes on nose and palate. The aromas are of elder flower, white flowers in a grassy field, wet stones and white pepper. Very intense on the nose. On the palate it is very refreshing with lively acidity. Many of the same notes as on the nose, and the same kind of distinct intensity. Very long aftertaste.

Deep yellow color. Very open nose with loads of fruit, apple juice, lemon soda, baguette, yeast and Asian spices. Very juicy and lively on the palate. Refreshing lemon bite, citrus fruits and green apple. Appears surprisingly youthful in the taste on the attack. On the finish it gains in complexity and adds notes of vanilla-flavored cookies, canned pears and puff pastry.

Beautiful yellow color. Full-bodied nose with loads of red fruit, apples, wild strawberry, freshly baked cookies, biscuits and vanilla beans. The taste has a captivating fruity sweetness dominating. Very pleasant and hedonistic, but the layers of red and yellow apples give room to more complex notes of Danish pastry, vanilla-flavored cookies, freshly baked baguette and butter. There is a bit of bitter almond in the midpalate, which together with the youthful, striking acidity begs for this champagne to be cellared. Great length.

Dark yellow color. Interesting and inviting nose with aromas of red apples, vanilla, biscuits, sherry yeast, autolysis, processed foods and oxidation. On the palate it starts in a similar broad style with red apples, lemon bite, bread and yeast. Somewhat earthy and oxidized in style, but the sweetness is not really coming through to the finish, instead making the acidity stand out and giving the end a bony and chalky feel.

Medium yellow. Classic Riesling nose with slate, minerals, white pear, white flowers and a touch of petrol. On the palate it starts with white pears and lychee, but continues to more perfumed white flowers and stony notes of limestone, slate and other minerals. Very good length, with perfectly balancing acidity and freshness, as well as a tocuh of sweetness.

Medium yellow. Toasted nose with freshly grinded coffee beans, sour lime and browned butter. Creamy and full-bodied on the palate, with great intensity, yet lively and fresh acidity. The attack is sour and dominated by lime fruit, while the midpalate and finish follows up with salt and other minerals.

Dark red color with a brick red hue. Warm nose with loads of ripe, dark raspberry, cherry and plum fruit, along with licorice, air-dried meats and sun-baked stones. Similar notes on the palate, where the heat from the alcohol is present on the finish. Well balanced by acidity that really lifts the wine, avoiding a heavy and overdone experience.

Medium yellow color. Intense nose with inviting aromas of lemon and citrus fruits, sweet citrus soda, cookie dough, butter and yellow flowers. Very expressive nose, but slightly less expressive on the palate. Still there is a great deal of sweet yellow citrus and lemon fruit with lively acidity and exciting notes of butter and flower perfume on the midpalate and finish. Fine length. Overall a great glass of Champagne.

Black opaque color. Very intense and concentrated on the nose with aromas of ripe, black fruit and berries, black olives, iodine and licorice. Similar notes on the palate and very true to the full-throttle, powerhouse style. Still a bit tart on the finish, but it softened up very well after aerating it in a decanter for a couple of hours. So I imagine it will be a bit better in a couple of years.

Light red color. Inviting, juicy strawberry fruit aromas, deep and cool, like wild forest berries accompanied by rose petals. On the palate the inviting red fruit follows through. It is light on its feet, but in no way lacking in intensity of the fruit. Red forest strawberries and red currant dominate, but the sweetness of farmed strawberries and red cherries are lurking in the background. The sweetness grows over the midpalate and gives a candied touch on the finish, which gives perfect balance with the lively acidity. Very easy drinking.

Dark red color. Ripe cherry and raspberry on the nose along with licorice, dried meat, pepper and exotic spices. On the palate there are loads of ripe raspberry and cherry on the attack, very concentrate and intense, but quickly the midpalate take over and changes direction towards a much more structured and acidic wine. On the midpalate and finish minerals, graphite, bitter dark chocolate and licorice dominate. Very tightly wound and young, in the need for more cellar time.

Medium red color with an orange hue. Floral, elegant perfume aromas, with some barnyard, earth and a hint of vitamin pill. Tight, intense and very elegant on the palate, with some juicy red berries, strawberries and red currant. Followed by leather and dried rose petals. The fruit has good intensity and lasts on the fine finish. Still dry and tannic on the end, this seems like the vintage’s fingerprint.

Similar notes on the palate where the cabernet sauvignon shines with black currant, leafs and earth, joined with the Tuscan ripe black cherry, tobacco and leather. Drinking very well now, yet with potential to at least keep its current level for years to come.

Medium red color. Fine, warm cherry fruit on the nose, primary but with notes of boiled candy, tar and asphalt. Powerful acidity on the palate, where in comparison the fruit seems fragile and elegant. Fine length with dusty, dry earth and leather on the finish. At this point it is mostly structure and in need of some stuffing, hopefully that will develop with time, otherwise it will be downhill from here.

Light yellow color. It has white and yellow stone fruits on the nose, which seems rather refined and elegant, yet not especially intense. Slowly the nose seems to open, giving more and more tea leaves and mushrooms. The palate has more intensity, with similar white and yellow fruits as on the nose. Quite broad on the midpalate and finish with some bitterness and fresh acidity. Hints of caramel, butter, nuts and oak on the finish. Maturity-wise this is drinking really well, although I wouldn’t mind tasting it again with a few more years of cellaring.

Goodbye tasting for Michael (Michaels appartment): Dark amber to brown color. Very weird nose with musty notes of milk, rye bread and burned sugar. The taste does not really improve on the overall picture. More brown, odd notes of rye bread and burned sugar. Surprisingly powerful acidity. Not really in balance and overall just barely drinkable. Apparently this wine is not normally sold, but produced for consumption by family and friends of La Fornace – labeled La Fornace Vinsanto Aurum Family Reserve 1995.
