Grenache-dominant (70%) GSM by the good folks at Linne Calodo. Fruit, tannins and alcohol all in balance - very drinkable. Would be interesting to do a head-to-head with Gigondas

Coravin'd a glass - was hoping for more. Perhaps was too soon but seemed quite closed off, even after some time in the glass. Don't get me wrong it tasted fine, but just not a lot going on.

Will put the Coravin system to the test and put the bottle back on the shelf for a long while and see what it's like after that. If I was scoring I'd score it an 87 right now.

Very tasty - needed about an hour to open up so decanting advised.

A testament to proper storage - was worried this was too old but it remains vibrant and enjoyable. Reminded me of gigondas.

No faults, other than old age. Brick coloured, raisin-y, finito. Suspect poor storage by prior owner.

perhaps I shouldn't be surprised that the value capital of the world delivered such a tasty bottle at this price, but it did and I was. Perhaps even more surprising was this being such a nice example of shiraz/syrah from a place not known for such things.

Nice blend of Sangiovese, Cab Sauv, Merlot and Syrah. No decant and was not required - red fruit and floral aromas and vibrant in the glass. Enjoyable.

Not enjoyable. Starts off decent enough. But acidity and alcohol then take over for a finish like a boozy sour patch kid.

Agree with all the recent notes, and especially that this has miles to go before it sleeps. I will be waiting a long time to drink the 2018 I just bought...

Still quite vibrant, with a good amount of fruit up front, some tart notes, smooth tannins and a velvety texture. Community drinking window says drink now, but I am revising my outside datee to 2024 as this has at least that much time left.

To the "BC can't make good big reds" crowd: Go south. This was a very solid bordeaux blend that I wouldn't hesitate to buy again or order in a restaurant.

I was not expecting much, (a) at this price point, and (b) because of a recent string of disappointing sangiovese, so this was a real pleasant surprise. Bright and juicy, tannin was nicely integrated, and some nice tartness to go with red and stewed fruit. Every time I think I'm out Sangio pulls me back in!

I haven't had a lot of Roussanne so not a lot to compare this to, but it reminded me of a nice oak-y chardonnay, only without the bitterness those wines sometimes possess.

Enjoyable - yet to taste something from the Rocks that hasn't been. More on the savory side of the GSM spectrum, but still some nice fruit.

Not good. Sky high acidity overpowers almost all other sensations. Made it through half a glass and put the rest aside. Day 2 no better. Dumped.

Long been a fan of Jaffurs but as a Canadian I only have so much space to bring wines back since nobody will ship to the north, and on every prior visit I have chosen a grenache to come back with me. This syrah won me over in the tasting room, and I clearly made the right choice as this was just as enjoyable as a Jaffurs grenache and one of the better syrahs I've had in a while. Great mix of darker fruits, a touch of pepper and some umami, with a fragrant floral nose.

18 months later and no substantial changes to prior notes; flavors might have been a bit more muted this time but no decant and it didn't last long enough to see how it progressed. This is a great wine.

Nice floral nose with red fruits and a hint of spice. Similar palate, with some minerality and still pretty firm tannins - might want to give a bit more time in bottle before the next one. Great QPR.

Great. Nose a little closed on pnp, opened up substantially as the night went on - still a good amount of ripe red fruits mixed with earth and a hint of spice. Stewed fruits in the glass with some leather and spice, medium acidity and soft tannins. Lots of life left - will save my remaining two for a while yet.

Tremendous wine, and a top-3 standout among 9 other bottles tasted. Dark cherry, dark chocolate and a little minerality there too. As usual, if you can't decide between a bordeaux offering and its California equivalent, Washington splits the difference (though this one leans more France than CA). A great wine from a great winery.

Another standout in an epic 10-bottle tasting session. Lots of power as usual with Blair Fox wines (and Paso in general), but he manages to tame the alcohol beast in a nicely balanced mix of blackberry, vanilla and almost an earthiness. Great stuff.

One of the stars of a 10-bottle tasting. Floral, red fruit, a touch of sour cherry but also a little bit of spiciness, this is fine example of grenache elegantly done right (which the area from Santa Barbara to Paso seems to be doing more and more of). Drinking outstandingly well now, but no rush. Wish I had bought more.

Savory goodness in a glass, but you'd expect no less from something from the Rocks. Some floral on the nose, along with some blueberry in the glass, but primarily a delicious meatiness to this, with some nice soft tannins. This didn't last long after opening.

Top notch Grenache. Floral, candied nose, which continues into the glass where it meets some classic savoury meatiness. Very well made and a good qpr for the region.

Been hanging on to this one for a while, more by accident than on purpose. A happy accident it turns out - it aged quite nicely, with deeper darker fruits and reduced acidity. A great value always, but even moreso with some inadvertent age.
